An entry-level, flash-based storage system designed for enterprise-class applications

Provides ease of use and robust Snapshot functionality, but pricing is relatively high
My most important criteria when selecting a vendor are to see that it has good market share already established, or that it has a robust roadmap with interesting products in the future, or that I have had a solid feeling with different products from same manufacturer. If I were only rating the NetApp solution without considering the price, I would probably give it nine or 10 out of 10. If the rating includes the price, it's more like a seven. If you're aiming for the easiest solution which will work, more or less, out-of-the-box and has lots of features, I would definitely recommend NetApp. If you're also bound by budget restraints, you should probably look at other vendors.

Pros

"The storage capacity is really one of the most valuable features. Also, the GUI is very friendly and the switches gives high performance. The technology used in storage is RAID which as helped us a lot to expand and store various items ."
"It has many options for scalability, and it is stable."
"The solution is stable."
"It is a scalable solution."
"NetApp FAS is highly stable and reliable, especially under a heavy load. That is what I like most about the NetApp."
"Flexible and reliable storage solution with multiple features such as cloning, replication, and deduplication. Data migration can be done without any performance implications on the production systems."
"NetApp FAS Series is simple to set up."
"Fast Snapshots"
"Data consolidation and visualization."
"At the moment, we use NetApp SnapMirror to replicate data to another filer at an offsite location for backup. So, I like this feature."

Cons

"The call charges and the management cost should be more friendly. They can also include monitoring and management."
"The handling of data deletion and bulk servers setup could have been more straightforward and easier when dealing with data removal or setting up servers. I believe Huawei could enhance their solutions, especially managing storage, to provide a better experience for customers."
"As I see it, there could be more interfaces, more cache, etc."
"Its licensing cost can be improved."
"It may need more flexibility to fight with other competing arrays."
"For long term partnership in Myanmar, the local warehouse should be built in Myanmar that's something I'd like to see. We have some issues with supply so there is sometimes a delay in getting the hardware."
"Cost is always a factor. Some people choose EMC or Dell because they perceive NetApp as being more expensive."
"The WAFL is slow."
"The product must support more drives."
"No other area for improvement comes to mind other than its price. Making the price more attractive will help this solution have a bigger market share."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is cheaper than other solutions."
"The installation is expensive as they often come as a comprehensive package. The design is more integrated, and everything is bundled together as part of the solution. This is what contributes to the higher cost of their solutions because when you purchase one element, it often comes with additional features and components, and you end up paying for the entire package."
"it’s not an inexpensive solution and it may not be for the cost-sensitive customer."
"I don't recall the price, but in general, pricing can always be better."
"If we want a ransomware solution with the product or other extended features, we need to pay an extra cost."
"It's not cheap, but at the same time, it's also inexpensive. It's somewhere in between."
"NetApp FAS Series could be less expensive."
"The only area that could be improved is to lower prices for their All Flash FAS."
"Most storage vendors also have software, or licensing bundles, which may offer the required licenses considerably cheaper, but do also maybe offer licenses, which are not needed."
"The process for going to cluster mode is expensive."
