Consistent optimization of production and efficient procurement processes improve operational effectiveness
I am working as an IT Director at Istituto De Angeli, which is a company of Fareva. FAREVA is a leading global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, makeup, and home and industrial care products. I have worked with the traceability and audit features in Infor LX, including the electronic signature module, which is essential in the pharmaceutical industry. The electronic signature is a key component of compliance for our ERP. This is crucial for periodic inspections we receive from authorities, including European authorities, Italian AIFA, USA FDA and other Pharma Agencies and Ministry world wide. On a scale of 1-10, I rate Infor LX a 9.

Long-term adaptation and evolution meets changing technology trends
SAP ERP is not really real-time. We use the HANA database which is supposed to be memory data in memory, but we are still not very happy. It is supposed to be real-time and come very quickly, but in reality, it still takes time to run. That is why we use BW of SAP, Business Objects, and now we have moved to the Analytic Cloud where we start using predictive AI. SAP recently implemented Databricks, and they started investing significantly in the analytic environment. SAP ERP has been left behind as they moved to S/4HANA with the HANA database. They restructured the whole table structure of SAP ERP, introduced simple finance, simple logistics, and moved HR to SuccessFactors. They have the BTP layer where they manage everything from integration to master data management. The challenge with SAP is that they move very fast to different products and buy different products. It requires significant investment and many skills to catch up because all of these have different sets of technology. The fundamental has changed differently. It is not monolithic anymore but different products under one name, SAP. You have to buy it model by model for additional models. Products such as SuccessFactors, Ariba for procure to pay, Concur for travel, and Facility Management use totally different technology. They try to integrate with each other, but it remains a challenge for SAP to make them have the same management, technology, and operational approach.

"One of the major advantages of Infor LX is the stability of the program."
"The most valuable features are the exit points that enable integration with external software."
"Infor LX is effective for planning, manufacturing, and distribution processes."
"One of the things I love about Infor LX is that everything is integrated."
"The best feature of SAP ERP is the full integration."
"The most valuable features are the claim management."
"This is a robust solution with a lot of control measures."
"The solution is very stable."
"The most significant elements of this solution are the ability to create a virtual product, a service product, and delivery."
"The stability and performance are good."
"The most valuable features of SAP ERP are the general operations. It has a good way to manage a business and do financial reporting. Overall we are happy with the robustness of the solution."
"It is a utility-focused solution, and the deployment is very much aligned with utility service providers. If you look at the supply chain and the overall business model of a utility service provider, SAP is something that fits very well. That's because the company has invested tremendously in creating appropriate workflows pertaining to this segment or domain."

Cons

"The connectors, performance, and knowledgebase availability can be improved."
"From a supporting point of view, Infor LX is not quite what I see with SAP and other areas."
"The user interface of Infor LX needs significant enhancement to be more user-friendly."
"Infor needs more APIs, as in the current version, APIs are not fully developed. The development of APIs must be enhanced, especially for AS400."
"The interface needs enhancement, as I am still using outdated screens."
"It lacks in finance and administration, especially related to Italian accounting."
"Infor needs more APIs, as in the current version, APIs are not fully developed."
"It's based on AS/400 or Power i, a robust technology and platform. However, it is harder to manage admin most of the time."
"Improvements to the UI. The UI is pretty old, but this will change with the upcoming release of S.4."
"One thing that is lacking in ERP is a good user interface. It is currently very clumsy and complex. Another thing is that reporting capability of SAP ERP is customizable, but it is not very good. Its development time is also very high if you require specialized technical services. If you want to do any changes to the report or develop a new report, you need people with specialized skills. Business processes are very straightforward and standardized as per the industry standards. However, the way it works is a bit complex, and you need to know a lot of things. There are different things that can be complex for a general user. A lot of information is being provided in ERP. A general user doesn't require all this information, and it creates a lot of confusion. Its learning curve is very high."
"Presently, the solution's interface is not intuitive."
"Though SAP ERP's FICO module is a strong part of the product, its integration capabilities can be made stronger."
"It is not easily integrated with outside products."
"SAP is not making a big effort to make it easy to integrate solutions from other vendors. It's not easy at all... Integration is what they can do better."
"The reporting could be improved, such as the casework, production, and activity reports. Our consultants in a subsidiary enterprise have requested that we develop a new production report. They could also improve production, financial, and HR analysis."
"The solution's UI could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing is variable due to different deals and discounts, typically starting at around $2000 US dollars for one license."
"Infor LX is not cheap but much cheaper compared to SAP HANA."
"Our last maintenance fee was around $15,000 a year for 33 current users."
"SAP ERP is an expensive tool."
"The solution can cost approximately $1 million a year for maintenance for a small-size company and can grow from there. Approximately $1 million is needed for a good-size company."
"The solution has moved from a licensing model to a rights-based, subscription model in the cloud."
"I don't know the price, but I know its licensing is on a yearly basis."
"I rate the product's price a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. SAP ERP is a costly tool."
"The licensing costs are slightly on the higher side. They need to make it more competitive."
"The price of SAP ERP is high, but it is worth the money. The maintenance and support can be expensive. There should be a different price model for businesses that are not as large to be able to afford it."
"This is a costly product."
