The best thing about Google classroom is that it is totally free of charge for educational institutions.  You can also use almost all functions of the Classroom with your personal account.

When you upload a file as part of an assignment, it gives you 3 options:  1. Students can view the file  2. Students can edit the file  3. Make a copy for each student.  These functionalities give me a lot of flexibility for the assignments.
