Answered a question: Which is better, Informatica PowerCenter or SSIS?
It is down to (1) which tool suits Client's project better and (2) what expertise you have on board. I don't know Informatica at all and have been working heavilly with SSIS since before the last ice age so I would probably vote for SSIS. I am still to find a task too heavy…

Commented on SSIS 2016 - The good, the bad, and the ugly
You are missing one important feature in "The Good" secion: the new (2012+) deployment / storage model (i.e. Integration Services Catalogs) while indeed tightly coupled with the SQL Server technology, provides a very handy access to all SSIS metadata (including execution…

I haven't had a chance to use it so far. All my recent projects were MS SQL
based.

Thanks Gary. Yes, I am aware of the new SSISDB database and I am slowly migrating some of the projects to it. It is much more convenient, especially the way you can configure your solution on per-environment basis. Plus it is flexible, too. You can have just one instance of…

About me
I am a highly qualified Data Analyst and BI Specialist with almost 20 years of experience in IT and a thorough understanding of contemporary business models.
My major areas of interest are Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions.
I am also a big fan of Scrum. I have been working in Scrum based environments for a couple of years now and I have seen many successful projects delivered that way.
I have vast experience in OLAP & OLTP, MDX, SSAS and Cognos, coupled with experience in building robust and efficient ETL solutions, either in-house or on leading industry products: SSIS, ODI, Cognos DM and more.
I am also an experienced database developer. Prior to focusing on EDW and Business Intelligence I mastered computer programming significantly. I have a working knowledge of most of the modern programming languages (the whole C family, Python, Java and more). My expertise also includes VBA programming ever since it came on to the market in 1997. Although this is not my primary development environment any more, I am still passionate about programming and develop my skills in this area.
Furthermore, I have CCNA and CCNP certifications and have worked as a Cisco Instructor, which gave me the opportunity to gain knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols etc.
Before joining BearingPoint I had an occasion to provide IT-related services to companies from various kinds of industries: clinical research, banking, food industry, clothing, energy suppliers, pharmaceutical, transportation, furniture production, educational institutions and software houses. I am familiar with both large and medium scale businesses. I am comfortable working in a small team for a local manufacturing business as well as in a huge, multinational, global enterprise.
I have been living and successfully building my professional career in Ireland since February 2006.
Since June 2011 I am a happy owner of my own Limited Company, providing IT consultancy services.
