Answered a question: What solution would you recommend for monitoring traffic utilization of leased lines?
I use Solarwinds NPM for almost all of my end-to-end monitoring. Once it is set up, it works very well, using SNMP to monitor the routers on both ends and tell you everything you can imagine about that device (we only use Cisco gear).

Answered a question: VMware ESXi or VMware Workstation?
From purely a performance perspective, ESXi is a better choice. The hypervisor is running directly on the hardware as opposed to running on an existing OS. ESXi has direct access to the hardware without going through a 3rd party so to speak, the performance gains are…

Answered a question: Do you think there is a minimum critical threshold that justifies the deployment of the System Center suite?
I believe the answer is "it depends". How much visibility do you need into your servers, network, applications? All of these questions need to be answered before you can justify the System Center Suite of products. A typical small business could live with a server going…

For me, the most important factor is whether it meets the customer's needs or not. There are many use cases for all of the virtualization platforms and not one does everything perfectly. Price is always a factor in meeting the customer's needs, a lot of times the feature…

Answered a question: When evaluating Event Monitoring, what aspect do you think is the most important to look for?
For me, the right tool would be something that gathers as much data as possible for each event and allows the user to customize what they want to display. Not everyone needs to see the same information and everyone should not be treated the same way. Customization is key.
