Contributed a review of VMware EVO:RAIL [EOL]: We like having four built-in nodes. We lost one, but our load kept going. In future releases, I want to be able to bring up appliances and different data centers with smooth replication.

About me
John is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Oakland Unified School District. As a cabinet member, he works closely with executive staff to set and implement strategies to make all Oakland students college, career, and community ready. As CTO he's led a great team to transform of the district infrastructure, to deploy equitable, supportable, and secure end user computing, and to build software platforms for leadership, teachers, students, and parents.
John was previously the Chief Technology Officer at Fremont Unified School District (FUSD), a K-12 public school district with 4500 employees and 33,000 students. Before FUSD, John was the Vice President for Technology at Envision Education, a Bay Area charter management organization and consultancy.
Previous to his career in education technology management, John worked for almost 10 years in technology management at Microsoft, Virage, and Autonomy. John began his career as an educator holding various teaching and technology leadership positions.
John worked as an adjunct instructor at Seattle Pacific University teaching courses on technology to enhance and extend learning in the classroom. He is currently an adjunct instructor at UC Berkeley Extension. He earned a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Education from the University of Washington. He has certifications as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, a Network Operations Manager, and a Chief Technology Officer.
