Commented on Easy product with all the features you need but it would be nice if it had predictive trending.
Since Zabbix 3.0 there is now predictive trending and much more. In fact Zabbix is now the only open-source solution that delivers a complete set of features.

Commented on Zabbix vs Nagios comparison
Off course I read it 3M values per minute that's less then 900 vps still far below what zabbix is capable of
But I was with slow pointing out to the graphs part.
People just fail in zabbix on the DB part you need descent hardware and good database tweaking.
To many people…

Commented on Zabbix vs Nagios comparison
It's a package but you still rely on 3rd parties
The link you point at talks about failing clients in zabbix 1.8
zabbix is now in 2.2 and almost 2.4 even in 2.0 i never had a client crashing.
and Slow graphs in zabbix ?? My experience is just the other way around, I come…

Commented on Zabbix vs Nagios comparison
Nice comparison but the point where you mark a database as a con is a bit weird to me. Yes your DB needs to be fast and it probably adds some extra costs to your setup but on the other hand looking up data is quick and you don't throw away gathered information from your…

it's free for us to use because we pay for our partnership so we are allowed to use rhed hat software for free
normally u not pay for rhev but u have to take a support contract so rhev is impossible to use without payed support for normal customers. If u are not affraid of…

If paying for support is an issue then u can try to use http://www.ovirt.org/
This is the oss version where rhev is based on a bit like what fedora is for rhel
u get all the latest features that are not even implemented in rhev the only downside is that u are a tester…

Commented on Extremely powerful and flexible but the auto-discovery function has room for improvement
From your writings it's clear that u are a hardcore zabbix user and that u know the product very well
Well since 1.8 the documentation is for an open-source product very impressive
just some points are still lacking a bit like snmp traps…

Commented on Extremely powerful and flexible but the auto-discovery function has room for improvement
@George Wenzel
well maybe i was a bit short. i'm defo not breaking zabbix for the snmp traps
u are right that support from the os is much better but the way snmp traps are catched now in zabbix is just not clear for first timers and a difficult task compared to other…

Commented on Extremely powerful and flexible but the auto-discovery function has room for improvement
i agree on the snmp part
when sending snmp traps zabbix has nothing to catch them it will depend on the os for catching snmp traps.
However if u use snmp with lld for switches etc that works great !
reporting is defo not what it needs to be try for ex: try to make a report…
