Answered a question: Which firewall solution would you recommend for an SMB with 50 employees and around 100 devices?
Jay, Peter below is taking you to the best product. Fortinet (I am a user at home with an FG40) is the only appliance with hardware acceleration that can really handle the loads. It is not only a "firewall" as such but Intrusion Prevention, Virus, Web filtering, SPAM for…

Answered a question: Would you recommend replacing Cisco ASA Firewall with Fortinet FortiGate FG 100F due to cost reasons?
Confusing, costs? Cost is an elastic term that with time will determine choices.
Fortinet is KING!.
Cisco ASA could not come anywhere near. Not sure reasons for going to ASA, in the first place.
The Forti OS system and the hardware appliances on most models have custom…

Replied to Luis Apodaca Would you recommend replacing Cisco ASA Firewall with Fortinet FortiGate FG 100F due to cost reasons?
@Luis Apodaca no they are not. It is chalk and cheese.

Replied to Kehinde Bankole What are the biggest differences between Cisco Firepower NGFW and Fortinet FortiGate?
@reviewer1171122 I am a Cisco Academy Trainer. I would not use ASA and Java, simple as that. Fortinet most important feature as many others, lies that is the only thing in the market that has ASIC chips (semiconductors) that can handle traffic and inspection. It does not…

Answered a question: What are the biggest differences between Cisco Firepower NGFW and Fortinet FortiGate?
If you need a performance appliance, Cisco is not the one. Once you start adding policies, IPS and others, it chokes.
Fortinet has customs semiconductors that can handle hardware with a tremendous amount of efficiency compared to anyone else.

Answered a question: Which is better - Wildfire or FortiGate?
What type of network is? how many users?
Fortinet products are unique in that they have specific chips to work on hardware rather than overcharging a CPU to 90%, as happens with some Sophos boxes and others.
Things in the cloud... the cloud is a name, it is software…

Answered a question: How do I choose between Fortinet FortiGate and pfSense?
PfSense is the only product that would perform in a Symmetric NAT. Painful but OS-fingerprinting and impossible to do UDP NAT hole punching. Skype, Zoom uses that and even Kerio Operator, but that is all
It is a very broken product and when you need IPS (the " free one" is…

Answered a question: What firewall to choose to support 500-1000 concurrent SSL VPN users?
As Mike says, listen to him. I totally support Fortinet. It is not only what I say.
I am a Cisco Academy Trainer and many things more....................forget ASA. Sorry, Cisco
You need Fortinet, believe me, you do.

Answered a question: Which firewall is better and why: Sophos XG 210 or Fortinet FortiGate 100E?
Today I have deployed a small FGT40F with OS 7 build 006. This is replacing a 3 years old FGT30E. In both cases even under heavy attack, memory in the FGT30E would jump to 77% and CPU would reach the 90%. I would then block those addresses and CPU would go down to 1 %. Again…

Answered a question: Which firewall is better and why: Sophos XG 210 or Fortinet FortiGate 100E?
I can see answers with the word "budget", What is cheap may end expensive. CAREFUL
Fortinet is a clever company who had put ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits). They use silicon, chips, so they are not only fast but can guarantee throughput. I have since…

Answered a question: How is FortiGate-VM different from the physical FortiGate firewall?
The root of all is VM. A virtual environment is software running on someone else machine/s. Welcome to the the cloud. Sadly, no one stops to think but with the excuse of "lower costs" many fall for it. Performance is the key word. Avoid VMware and the likes. What appears…

Answered a question: Is your NGFW compatible with Azure? Looking for recommendations
You must be told that performance and handling capacity is of outmost importance. Fortinet ASIC dedicated chips can handle traffic in hardware like no other can. Sophos is a turtle and some Cisco product as well. Once IPS, web protection and other features are added, CPU is…

Answered a question: What are the biggest technical differences between Sophos UTM and Fortinet FortiGate?
I would also like to elaborate on the reporting part in FortiCloud. There is no need to pay any extras. Every box connects to ForticCoud service, and if you want reports to be greater than 7 days (meaning to be kept longer than that in their memory system) then you have to…

Answered a question: What are the biggest differences between Cisco Firepower NGFW and Fortinet FortiGate?
I am not going to mention the price because, at the end of the day, the price of something cheap turns very expensive
I had a Cisco ASA and got fed up. That Java interface, that extra module for IPS, it was a total headache.
Fortinet has spent serious money with ASIC…

Answered a question: If you could go back, would you change your decision to buy that firewall and why?
I am a Cisco awarded trainer and used to have a Cisco ASA 5506. I got rid of it straight away. I will not touch it ever again. Yes, it may sound, but you are a Cisco trainer, ok? Yes, and I do like and respect Cisco when it comes to routers and switches but I purchased a…

Answered a question: Compare Microsoft Windows Defender and Symantec Endpoint Protection. How Do I Choose?
Sid, you just hit the nail in the head. Sadly, I see here one comment from someone that appears to have CISSP certification saying MS is good for the home user that is ultra fantastic, so just for being a home user nothing will ever happen to them, even if they have a Roku…

Answered a question: Compare Microsoft Windows Defender and Symantec Endpoint Protection. How Do I Choose?

Answered a question: Comparison of Barracuda F800, SonicWall 5600 and Fortinet

Just reading the email............"cheap"? What is the definition of

go for Symantec Endopoint Security.
