We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is a very stable solution.""i use the backup solution and I use something called Disk Director, which is a related product. Together, they allow me to manage all of my storage space.""Universal Restore is valuable to us.""All the necessary features required to set up a proper backup are already present in Acronis Backup.""The performance has been fine so far.""The most valuable feature is the extra protection, especially for the backup.""Stability is always good. I have used Acronis for 10 years now, if not more. I have never had a problem with availability, etc.""For me, the tool proved most valuable in scenarios where it offered easy setup, fast backups, and recognition of SQL logs on virtual machines."

"The most important features are the backup and the availability of the Universal Explorer. The in-transit compression is great.""The scalability is good. It can scale. Adding a new server to a foreign location is easy.""The most useful feature is that you can back up the virtual machines in different ways. You can back up from a vhost, and you can also back up from a Windows server. It doesn't matter what type of infrastructure or hypervisor is there. It's very flexible, which is its most useful feature for us.""Moving to cloud backups eliminated the need for clients to change USB drives or worry about drives being stored offsite.""We are now using it 24/7 because it is serving as an online backup, and very soon, the DR will activated on the product.""Backup of the VMware server is the most valuable feature.""It's easy to restore.""The most important feature, in terms of the hypervisor, is the ability to restore a virtual machine in a matter of minutes. We can take the backup of a virtual machine and we can restore it to the actual Vembu Backup server as a temporary solution, in a matter of minutes. We can just spin up a VM in no time; different hardware, even different processors. It's pretty dynamic in that sense."

Cons
"One improvement that could be made is adding the option to download files in a PST format when doing a 365 or Google Cloud to cloud backup.""I would like to have more hardware space. It would make it better. I would like to have two more terabytes.""A little bit more integration would be good. It should support broader platforms.""The whole product structure is confusing. You can actually get to do what you want to do. But Acronis seems to have a singular ability to make things difficult.""I have no suggestions for improvements as I have only used the product for a month and have yet to really discover all of its aspects.""The technical support of Acronis Backup could improve. They have the depth of knowledge but the speed of the response could be quicker.""The biggest problem that we have is when the antivirus is installed, the whole machine runs very slowly and some of the machines hang.""It would be nice to have a partition that I can boot and reinstall when taking a backup image from the operating system."

More Acronis Cyber Protect Cons →

"I have had issues where it was working and then it stopped and I had to diagnose what had changed or gone wrong to get it back up.""Windows 10 does not have application-aware backups. From my point of view, that's what's existing needs improvement.""They had a good product and tried to change things by going to a different product. They should have tried to stay with a product that is a proven solution and successful.""In the beginning, when we had some hiccups, I would chalk that up more to a learning curve for the product.""The phone [support] system is a negative five on a scale from one to ten, where one is the worst. They wanted me to leave a message. When there is a problem with the product and you call in, you want to talk to somebody or wait to talk to somebody, not leave a message.""The dashboard should more interactive.""The reports are at a basic level and there is room for improvement there. It only has historical reports and VM backup job-level reports.""It is very easy, unless you know exactly what you're doing, to corrupt the virtual machines and they get locked up. Just brief detail: When you are creating a system, if you don't have absolutely every other little background processes in place, it creates Snapshots of the virtual machines. Once it does that, it then won't be able to have a backup. From that point on you have to destroy the virtual machine, which is completely counterproductive on a large system. There is a fundamental flaw in the setup that can be very dangerous, potentially."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Doing what this is capable of doing, the cost of it is in line."
  • "Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support."
  • "I would say that at the pricepoint that it's at, it's definitely worth the money."
  • "It has already paid off itself in the first few months that we implemented it."
  • "When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all."
  • "I like the pricing, and that it is easy to use and has performed well. "
  • "Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
  • "The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro."
  • More Acronis Cyber Protect Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The product's pricing is a good value. Vembu is cost-effective versus using VMware Essentials. Regarding licensing, make sure you find the right workstation or server that you're going to install it on, and know the number of sockets it has, since the price depends on that."
  • "It is very cost efficient, effective. I’d say it's one-third the cost of Veritas when compared to the server backups. I even tried image backups on Acronis, but Acronis is very expensive. So these are some of the key reasons why I opted for it."
  • "We were able to take advantage of a promotional pricing campaign."
  • "The pricing structure is in line with other solutions. However, the option to replicate offsite to a unit at another office or at home is a big cost benefit. Instead of paying monthly for cloud storage, you replicate offsite for free."
  • "Pricing is fair enough. What was not clear enough in the documentation on the website was that that you're licensing per CPU socket and you are only licensing on the restore sockets, not the backup sockets. It's a bit technical, but it was very well explained during the demonstration that we had during the evaluation period."
  • "I prefer the way Vembu is licensed. When you look at Veeam or any other product, they price per node. Vembu is licensed per host. You just buy a host license and it backs up unlimited VMs within that host. The others charge per VM."
  • "Vembu is too expensive because they don't really have small-business pricing. This is a matter of personal opinion. They're going to tell you that they have competitive pricing because there are more expensive solutions in the marketplace, but there are better solutions in the marketplace that are more expensive. Their product is a better fit for small businesses, but they don't price it that way."
  • "The product's pricing is of good value. It was much more affordable than the alternative solution to it, which was Veeam. That would be the closest competitor, and between those two, Vembu was much more affordable. It seemed reasonable for what we needed to do."
