Easy to manage with reasonable pricing and good monitoring
We primarily use the solution for security purposes. We use it as a firewall for protection.  It helps protect our users, and we are able to initiate our own policies. It also provided good visibility and reporting.  The management is very easy. It offers very good security features.  The…

Easy to set up with good segmentation but need better support
We're using the solution for firewall segmentation, including segmentation of the network, authentication purposes, logins, et cetera Compared to other firewalls, segmentation is much easier in FortiGate. The initial setup is straightforward.  The support could be better. Their first-level…

Easy to maintain, easy to extract the logs, and very stable
It is scalable. We haven't used the scalability up till now, but we know that we can extend it. We have 150 users here, and then we have around 30 to 40 users in different countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Norway. They're using some parts of it. They are using some smaller units to connect to the main office. We don't have any plans to increase its usage as of now. Any expansion would be in terms of getting new offices around the world. We may install more of those smaller ones, but for the time being, as far as I know, we will not expand it in the office because it is already performing as it should. It actually did a very good job when we were working remotely because it allows us to connect to the office very easily and work remotely.

Pros

"The most important features of Fortinet FortiGate are the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and firewall control applications."
"The usage in general is pretty good."
"We were looking for the VPN feature and controlling the inflow and outflow of all the traffic within the site and across the sites. We are also using it for the VPN and VLANs."
"Whenever we raise a complaint with FortiGate, their response and resolution times are minimal."
"I like that you are able to manage FortiGate from the FortiManager to create a more centralized environment."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the SD-WAN and their IP4 policy."
"The most valuable features of the solution are SD-WAN, filtering testing applications, web filtering, and the new VPN."
"Secure, user-friendly, stable, and scalable network security solution. Installation is straightforward."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiOS are its simplicity, highly user-centric, and performs well. The line speed and for heavy traffic, is helpful for us."
"A good network security system for medium-sized businesses with an excellent GUI interface that gives a graphic view of network status."
"The information security features are the most valuable."
"The VDOM (Virtual DOM) is a virtualized firewall that has some opportunities for flexibility that are an advantage in certain configurations."
"This is a user friendly solution and offers comprehensive integrations."
"Compared to other firewalls, the segmentation is much easier in FortiGate."
"The solution is very easy to configure and has a good interface, plus it offers more configuration options than other vendors."
"We have expanded the wireless access point and switches using Fortinet FortiOS."
"It's a reliable firewall and very stable, for both the hardware and applications it is stable."
"The command line in Juniper SRX is extremely powerful, in my opinion. It's one of the best command lines I've used in networking products."
"The firewall features and the routing capability are the most valuable."
"Juniper is one of the most powerful network security solutions while remaining simple to use, set up, and scale."
"We think they have a good interface, the operating system is good, it's robust. It has plenty of great features, and the relation between the cost and benefits works for our business."
"I like that Juniper SRX is easy to use, scalable, and stable with good performance."
"Technical support has been quite helpful."
"I've found the security features, such as IDS and the VPN most valuable."

Cons

"I think they need to improve more in order to be a competitor with the leaders of the field."
"The solution needs to improve its integration with cybersecurity."
"There is a lot of improvement needed with SSL-VPN."
"I need user-behavior analytics, to find threat scenarios from inside the organization, insider attacks. That would be very helpful for us. In addition, I would like next-generation features for small and medium businesses. These businesses require UTM, all in one product. Fortinet must include it."
"We were not able to build a full-mesh VPN; however, I am not sure if this was the fault of Fortinet FortiGate."
"While FortiGate is cheaper than most other solutions, we're seeing increased license renewal costs. Most of our clients are asking for more significant discounts because the price is going up."
"Technical support for this solution can be improved."
"The support system could be improved."
"The solution's firmware updates have significant bugs and issues."
"For monitoring purposes, we don't have any option to monitor the ISP link."
"In terms of what needs improvement, the pricing could be lower. The price is very steep."
"There are some issues with the performance. We also had some issues while updating the firmware."
"Fortinet FortiOS need to manage its memory and CPU utilization better. It peaks at times, which sometimes can be challenging."
"We had assistance from one person from our local vendor for the implementation."
"They need to integrate more with the SD-WAN."
"In terms of what needs improvements, the troubleshooting could use improvement. When we work with other products like Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, and Check Point, we see a big difference in the troubleshooting. It's not easy to find a report."
"Does not offer protection for IoT devices"
"Sometimes committing configurations takes a lot of time in Juniper because of the connections, and it could be a little bit faster."
"It's a good stable firewall, but it's nowhere near what it needs to be for a next-generation type firewall."
"It was very difficult to deal with and required a lot of support, and the UI is very poor."
"The interface could be more user-friendly."
"The Juniper SRX product needs to improve in terms of innovation."
"Third-party support for Juniper is a lot less than Cisco. This is no surprise, but a definite consideration if you are expecting to use a lot of third party support. In my guesstimate, for every 100 Cisco shops, you will find one Juniper shop."
"There is room for improvement in scalability and performance. It's scalable and reliable, but when using next-generation firewall features, the performance decreases significantly for Juniper SRX."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is not a cheap solution but it isn't expensive, either. It's a good solution for the right price."
"Easy to understand licensing requirements."
"The pricing is fair."
"The initial setup is super straight forward and as far as the licensing goes for the small product that we have, the pricing was pretty competitive. It wasn't as simple and as cheap as a SonicWall but for the service we would get it was a good price."
"The support subscription for the solution is annual. You are paying for support and there are two levels of support, professional and advanced."
"Compared to Palo Alto, which we have used in the past, pricing and licensing are okay."
"As far as I'm aware, in our case, it's just a yearly pricing arrangement with no additional licensing costs."
"The price is okay."
"The price of Fortinet FortiOS is reasonable and it is paid annually. You are able to select the features that you want."
"The pricing could always be lower."
"The cost is around $40,000."

"The pricing appears to be cost-effective, and the cost is quite reasonable within Bangladesh and other countries, though it may vary based on global currency fluctuations."
"Pricing is good. Most of the costs are in the UTM (IDS/IPS, virus scanning, etc) subscription."
"Compared to other vendors, the pricing of this solution is good."
"The price of this solution is more than other products, but it's stable, and the technical support is better than I have seen with others."
