We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"What I really like about this program, is that it is easy to use and easy to configurate.""We're able to get higher-density workloads on the same infrastructure, and we have a smaller physical footprint. The performance is excellent – during our test the bottlenecks are never on the X array, it just keeps picking up the pace to match what you need. The real-time visibility is a differentiator in my opinion.""It's helped us because we've changed fundamentally what we talk about. We don't talk about storage and different tiers of storage anymore nor do we talk about servers. We talk now about applications and how applications impact the business and end users.""It is very easy to install and configure. It has got excellent diagnostics. If you really need to see how the box is performing, the console gives you a lot of information. You can set thresholds as well as alerts based on the thresholds, which is a very powerful functionality. They are very proactive. They know how to monitor and manage the systems. They see a problem, and they are all over it before us. They see the problem before we see it, which is very good.""Technical support has been helpful and responsive.""The solution is scalable.""The standout features for us in Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its robust DDoS protection, seamless transparent failover, and failback capabilities ensuring high availability.""The most valuable feature of this solution is reliability."

"The high availability was most valuable because they come with what's called 100% data availability. With special terms, they license and guarantee 100% data availability. That was probably one of the key features or components that HPE was offering with that model.""The most valuable feature of HPE Primera is its performance and simple replication.""HPE Primera is an all-flash storage product that's very stable and has a higher storage capacity. It can also give better ROI compared to NetApp.""The performance is very good.""There has been a lot of changes in HPE Primera OS, and most of the time any package related to it is simple to upgrade. It does not require any support for the operation. The customer can easily deploy any code directly from the GUI which is very good. Additionally, we have individual storage we can allocate and easily manage.""It is a stable and scalable solution with quick and efficient storage capability.""The product has better replication features than the previous products.""In my opinion, HPE is making good progress and moving ahead with InfoSight, which is predictive analytics and artificial intelligence."

"You can easily scale up, and scale-out.""We find the product to be very flexible.""NetApp NVMe AFF A800 is easier to use than some other solutions and the UI is very good to use for day-to-day activities. Overall, the solution has good technology.""The most valuable feature of the solution is that it is a product that is fast and provides a fast I/O.""Low latency is the most valuable feature.""During the use cases of the solution, its reliability and suitability are the best.""The most valuable features are stability and performance.""The storage features are valuable."

Cons
"We would like to see VNC integration or be able to use Pure Storage with VNC.""We've seen that when we create a POD in synchronous mode, it increases the latency.""We need better data deduplication.""The tool's portfolio is minimal. It is expensive.""Every time I think of something that needs to improve, they're one step ahead, which I love. The only area I wish to see improve, I believe is coming, is in the FlashBlade product. Blade implementation fell short on a few of the services.""Right now, the box itself is just strictly working as a backend storage system. It would be fantastic if we could access it directly like a NAS device through network access or SIS drives. I think they have an interface, but I am not sure how good it is. If we could address a box directly on the network without having to go through a server, it would be great. The replication schemas could be improved. We are not using replication on the storage level right now. We use a different type of replication. If their replication would be as good as the one that we have, I would probably run the replication schema because it might be faster, but I don't know that for a fact. So, I cannot say that they have good replication. All I can say is that they need to inform us better.""It is on the expensive side.""You cannot tag a LUN with a description, and that should be improved. What I like on the Unity side is that when I expand LUNs or do things, there is an information field on the LUN. This is the Information field that you can tag on your LUNs to let yourself know, "Hey, I've added this much space on this date". Pure lacks that ability. So, you don't have a mechanism that's friendly for tracking your data expansions on the LUN and for adding any additional information. That's a downside for me."

"The price of the product is an area of concern. From an improvement perspective, the solution should be made more affordable in terms of price.""The product’s price needs improvement.""We have not had a good experience with support from HPE Primera. They can improve.""This solution would be expensive for small business and it could be priced more competitively for that market.""The solution could prove the reporting.""There are certain shortcomings in the technical support offered by HPE where improvements are required.""Price is always important in Turkey, so HPE could lower the price to keep it competitive. It's not as competitive as other solutions in this market.""There are certain features that require engineering-level access, which should be accessible to storage admins as well."

More HPE Primera Cons →

"The technical support has room for improvement.""The initial setup is complex.""Stability is an area with a certain shortcoming where the solution needs to improve""The cost of the solution is quite high. It would be ideal if they could adjust it so that it's a but less.""The support can take a few days to have a response. However, the response that we do receive is very informative.""The product's performance has some shortcomings, making it an area that could be a little better.""The product’s UI could be better.""The initial setup should be easier, and more like a plug-and-play approach."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "The price of this solution is good for medium-sized and large businesses."
  • "From what I see, this is competitively-priced and HPE are doing their best to stay competitive."
  • "The price to capacity ratio is good."
  • "It is basically in the mid-range of the price. It is not cheaper than Hitachi, but it is cheaper than Pure Storage. There are no additional costs. Everything was taken care of in the price."
  • "Licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis and the cost of GreenLake service is included."
  • "I believe HPE Primera and Pure Storage are similar in price."
  • "There is only a one-time license purchase needed and no additional costs. If HP could reduce the training cost, then that would be advantageous to the seller."
  • "The price of HPE Primera could improve, it is expensive."

  • "Considering the requirements and the situation, I don't feel that this is an expensive product."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "There are licenses for the use of this solution, such as commercial licenses."
  • "I rate the product’s pricing a seven out of ten."
