We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We're able to get higher-density workloads on the same infrastructure, and we have a smaller physical footprint. The performance is excellent – during our test the bottlenecks are never on the X array, it just keeps picking up the pace to match what you need. The real-time visibility is a differentiator in my opinion.""The solution is scalable.""The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use.""Pure has signature security technology, which cannot be deleted, even if you are an administrator.""It has benefited my organization because it has reduced time to insights.""The duplication algorithm allows us to get a lot more use out of less storage. We're running a five terabyte array right now and we're running probably about 30 terabytes on it. So the duplication rate is pretty phenomenal, without a cost to performance. It still runs pretty smoothly.""The most valuable features of Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its superior performance compared to other flash tiers, as well as its ease of use, with an intuitive user interface that is simple to deploy and use.""It's incredibly easy to use and greatly simplified our ability to both deploy and manage our storage subsystems."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Pros →

"It's actually shaking hands with the workflow solutions much better than any other storage."

More Oracle FS1 Flash Storage System Pros →

"We love the real-time replication, ease of use when connecting our servers to the storage, and the level of redundancy inside the box... It's also simple software and integrates well with VMware so we get a lot of information about all of the VMs, how they're performing individually, and about network latency. That's very helpful when you're troubleshooting a slowdown.""The ease and use and the great performance are why we went with our 2nd Tintri VMstore.""Upgrades are super easy and can be done during business hours without interruptions in production.""Web GUI for maintenance and resource monitoring purposes is easy to use.""It is a set and forget environment with a very good tooling to view performance and delivers the IOPS we need for our VDI environment.""Support from our vendor and Tintri are brilliant. They have always answered all of our questions promptly.""I like Tintri's Global Admin feature and the solution's performance. It's incredibly fast storage, which was a significant upgrade for us when we deployed it seven years ago. The Tintri snapshots are brilliant and incredibly reliable.""The data encryption feature adds a valuable security enhancement with no impact on performance."

Cons
"I would like to see replication and DR features in the next release of this solution.""In terms of what needs improvement, the dashboard and management could be simplified.""You cannot tag a LUN with a description, and that should be improved. What I like on the Unity side is that when I expand LUNs or do things, there is an information field on the LUN. This is the Information field that you can tag on your LUNs to let yourself know, "Hey, I've added this much space on this date". Pure lacks that ability. So, you don't have a mechanism that's friendly for tracking your data expansions on the LUN and for adding any additional information. That's a downside for me.""Our use cases require more multi-tenant capabilities and additional VLAN interfaces for separating different customers. We currently use it to provide storage, sometimes shared storage, to different customers, but it is less flexible in comparison to a dedicated solution.""Efficiency improvements would always be welcome, but I'm not sure if they could get more efficient.""There is room for improvement in the pricing of the product.""They could add more support for file storage and different types of storage.""We would like to see VNC integration or be able to use Pure Storage with VNC."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Cons →

"It has to be flexible according to the customer's requirements. It has to be aligned with the customer business and the business environment."

More Oracle FS1 Flash Storage System Cons →

"The Tintri OS and GlobalCenter software do a great job of showing you troubled VMs, however it still could be a bit more helpful in diagnosing the issues.""We need more options to integrate with cloud storage options other than the current AWS and IBM that it currently supports.""Their support staff just doesn't have the experience with all of the products that we're running. They don't know the 850 series like we do because it's five years old. There is a little bit of a gap, and that may just be because we're an old customer running on platforms that their staff hasn't seen. I would like to see an improvement in their in-depth knowledge of their older products.""What I feel would be nice, in terms of a wishlist, is scalability. Rather than replacing the whole appliance, I would like to be able to just add another unit and scale it like that.""It would be beneficial if Tintri could identify issues through telemetry and notify us before we need to contact them.""Active/active cluster between two Tintris on Hyper-V cluster.""On the software side, I suggest adding integration with backups software like CommVault Simpana or Veeam where these products can integrate with the array and trigger things like snapshots for backup, etc.""In sync and automated mirror between two Tintris is missing."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."
