What is our primary use case?
We use the solution for its identity management and security features.
What is most valuable?
The solution's most valuable feature is web access control.

The solution's filtering feature needs improvement. We are using different SSL certificate versions for our sites. Considering it, the feature is not working up to the mark. It should be one step ahead in detecting vulnerabilities.

Head of Technical - Systems and Security at a tech consulting company with 51-200 employees
It operates on a global IT Intel platform and provides effective real-time threat protection
Pros and Cons
- "The real-time threat detection capability of Trend Micro Web Security has had a positive impact on our security."
- "his legacy version currently lacks WFA, which is a useful tool for managing bandwidth and applying data control limits to specific users. It's especially beneficial for organizations using Android and Azure."
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use Trend Micro Web Security as part of our enterprise solutions. We work with Trend Micro Vision One, including Vision One 8607 Pro, for integrated gateways and web security. Additionally, we use Trend Micro Internet Security.
How has it helped my organization?
In my experience, Trend Micro Web Security has adapted well to the changing threat landscape. While the executive portion may not currently be resetting the partner as a leader, other products like EDR and endpoint security excel in this aspect. These details are from my observations over the years and are relevant to the category.
What is most valuable?
The real-time threat detection capability of Trend Micro Web Security has had a positive impact on our security. It operates on a global IT Intel platform and provides effective real-time threat protection, which is essential for maintaining a good security standard.
I've noticed other features for managing products, particularly those not stored in cloud data. Exploring these policies might grant access to employees via Pernasil, which could be advantageous for us. I also use Azure for organizational purposes. Regarding incidents, I've found that generating reports from virus-related incidents, especially those involving clothing, could lead to a personal product.
What needs improvement?
One aspect I'd like to improve about Trend Micro Web Security is the WFA feature in the on-prem version. This legacy version currently lacks WFA, which is a useful tool for managing bandwidth and applying data control limits to specific users. It's especially beneficial for organizations using Android and Azure. In contrast, the cloud data version only offers time-based bandwidth management. Enhancing this feature or integrating it better with other aspects of the product would greatly enhance its appeal and functionality.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Trend Micro Web Security for the last four-five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
In terms of stability, the Trend Micro Web Security solution has been quite reliable in my experience. As for the duration of the web separation process, it typically doesn't take long since it's a cloud-based solution. We can enable monitoring policies step by step and adjust configurations based on requirements, which streamlines the process.
How are customer service and support?
While their support is generally good, the issue lies with response times. As a distributor, obtaining approval from the parent company can lead to delays in response. For instance, assigning an engineer may take a few hours, sometimes up to five hours, which can be problematic when urgent assistance is needed. We often have to escalate such cases to channel managers to expedite the process, as normal technical support can take considerable time to respond.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
How was the initial setup?
I deploy Trend Micro Web Security in our customers' environments. Typically, we require a skilled engineer to handle the installation. Depending on the complexity, we may involve a couple more resources. Installation and configuration usually don't require more than a couple of days, depending on how quickly we can deploy the agent and any specific customer needs.
What about the implementation team?
For most customers, remote access or network assessment is sufficient for deployment, making it a relatively straightforward process. Utilizing tools like CCMO or other remote management tools simplifies agent installation, and configuring the solution for cloud data is also quite easy. Generally, we can handle deployments for a thousand users with just a few people involved.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I would rate it six out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

The EDR feature is very good. It's one of the better features of security. It can protect a large percentage of the company.

It can scale well.
What needs improvement?
The costs are a bit high in terms of licensing.

The product is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We found the solution to be quite scalable. It has a good range.
I deploy the solution for my customers, and the companies are all different sizes. One company has 100 people using it. Another has 50, for example.
How are customer service and support?
I've never used technical support. I cannot speak to how helpful or responsive they would be.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We are using the full portfolio of Trend Micro.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup has a moderate level of difficulty. It's not simple. However, I would not describe it as complex.
Its deployment took us less than two or three hours. It didn't take long.
We only need two people to handle deployment and maintenance tasks. We have someone from technical support and our head of IT, for example, that can manage deployment and maintenance tasks.
What about the implementation team?
I used a consultant. They assisted with the setup process.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The licensing is paid annually.
It is a little bit expensive when you compare it to the competition. Other products often make aggressive offers when we are shopping around, and it can be quite a bit less.
What other advice do I have?
We are integrators. We work with clients and deploy the solution for them.
I'd rate the solution ten out of ten. It is a very good product.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
Disclosure: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer: Integrator
CEO at Haniya Technologies
Stable end-to-end security solution for websites
Pros and Cons
- "It's a very stable solution."
- "Setup isn't very straightforward. You must have a certified technical engineer."
What is our primary use case?
This solution is mostly used for web security. This solution is used on-premises and on the cloud.
We have about 15 to 20 clients using this solution.
What needs improvement?
It could be less expensive.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for about three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It's a very stable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's scalable.
How are customer service and support?
Normally, we don't usually get to the point where we require support from Trend Micro because we have our own technical team, and the distributors have their own technical team. After that, if we cannot solve anything, then we go through Trend Micro, but it normally doesn't happen that much.
How was the initial setup?
Setup isn't very straightforward. You must have a certified technical engineer. It depends on the number of users or how big your network is, but it takes about one to four to five days.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The license is yearly and user based.
Trend Micro products are quite expensive compared to Kaspersky, Sophos, and McAfee. If they came down on the price, maybe it would be easier for them to compete in the market.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate this solution 8 out of 10.
I would definitely recommend Trend Micro to people looking for an end-to-end security solution. Trend Micro has a good portfolio for security solutions.
Disclosure: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:
Consultant at a computer software company with 51-200 employees
Provides stable and scalable threat protection with good technical support, but it needs to be more comprehensive
Pros and Cons
- "Threat protection solution with good stability and scalability. Installation is straightforward. Support for this product is good."
- "What could help Trend Micro Web Security in terms of improvement is the addition of a DDoS protection feature. It also needs to be more comprehensive to meet the needs of large-sized companies."
What is our primary use case?
Trend Micro Web Security is used to protect the organizations from shoulder surfing. It also does certain classifications to provide protection not only from a security point of view, but also from a GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) point of view.
What needs improvement?
What could help Trend Micro Web Security in terms of improvement is the addition of a DDoS protection feature. Better DDoS protection is what I'm expecting, though I'm unsure if they now have that, because DDoS protection is more specialized than just web security.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've been providing Trend Micro Web Security for seven years now.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Trend Micro Web Security is a good, stable product.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Trend Micro Web Security is a scalable product.
How are customer service and support?
The tech support for Trend Micro Web Security is good.
How was the initial setup?
Installing this product is really straightforward. The longest part is getting the MX records changed.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
For Trend Micro Web Security licensing, there's annual and monthly options, e.g. it depends on the company and the customer. When they are on the managed services option, it's monthly. They're also setting up an option via AWS where there will be a monthly option via the AWS shopfront.
What other advice do I have?
We were able to deploy Trend Micro Web Security both on cloud and on-premises.
We currently have six customers on Trend Micro Web Security. Some of the customers, I've moved to a product that is more comprehensive.
You need a proper engineer to do the onboarding for this product, but it's not a very resource-intensive solution once it's installed. It does its protection. It gives you reports. You can configure it for the changes you want to make.
I recommend Trend Micro Web Security, particularly for small to medium enterprises. Bigger companies have more stringent requirements, and they might want to use solutions that are more comprehensive, but for small to medium-sized companies, this solution is good enough.
My rating for Trend Micro Web Security is six out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Hybrid Cloud

What needs improvement?
There are multiple ways Web Security could improve, such as usability and web access to several programming modes.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using Web Security for around three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability varies depending on if it's the Software as a Service or on-premise version, but it's highly stable in general.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability is open because it depends on the number of licenses you purchase. I've used it mostly in global environments, so that's massive.
How are customer service and support?
I have a direct account manager, web support, email support, etc. Most of the support engineers I speak with are based in Ireland, but some are in Munich and the United States. They are very fast and helpful.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I am mostly using Symantec and Pure solutions. I also use Azure Access.
How was the initial setup?
I have had any complications so far. It depends on the customer's environment, generally speaking. It usually is straightforward.
