We performed a comparison between Acronis Cyber Protect and VMware SRM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Commvault, Zerto and others in Cloud Backup."For local backups, it has options to back up almost any storage. The back can be either a shared folder or anything you want, it's pretty flexible."
"It has simple buying options and deployments. You can buy on-cloud, on-premises, or hybrid solutions. Acronis Backup is very easy to deploy. It also does not consume much hardware. The administrator's tasks are very simple. It is very user friendly, and it also has good security features with low-level encryption and data encryption."
"It is a very stable solution."
"One of the most valuable features of Acronis is its AnyData Engine which allows any device to connect to any other device for the purpose of data restoration."
"The most valuable feature is its ability to back up and recover our production environment from ransomware."
"In my opinion, it's the best product for end-users and PCs."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that it backs up my systems transparently in the background, and I'm not even conscious of it."
"Acronis Backup is valuable if your data is affected by ransomware, you are able to get it back."
"The replication is a key feature."
"Virtual Machine Recovery during DR situation, with automation and easy to use menus and options."
"It's very reliable. The solution is stable."
"The stability of SRM has been excellent. It gets a nine-out-of-ten."
"The replication is the solution's most valuable feature. If we have some issues on the VM in the main site we can migrate it to another site automatically."
"It has a good and effective user interface."
"The thing I like the most about SMR is the reduced cost of management."
"VMware SRM replicates the VM from one site to another, and it helps us orchestrate the powering of VMs and DR when the DC goes down."
"If we could have a mass deployment option using Acronis, that would be helpful."
"I believe that the next release should be easier to configure as this one is difficult to configure even the easiest of tasks."
"It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops. It isn't easy right now to have many different types of desktop computers. This is because Microsoft is changing a lot of things in Windows 10."
"The UI performance can be slow at times, especially when handling operations like checking backup status or initiating a restore. The response time for these actions could be improved."
"The solution needs to have better stability. I would like to improve the tool’s support through calls."
"I can't select a network location. I have to map a drive on the server, and then I have to select the mapped drive in order for it to put the backup out there."
"Because Acronis Backup is an on-premises solution, there is extra overhead. It's harder to manage, and there's no real remote access. You have to physically log in to the machine to manage it. The reporting feature works fine, and you will be able to send out reports. However, that is where it stops. The deployment could be improved and could be through a network chain. If we need to deploy two machines that are not connected to the internet but connected to two different networks, it would be great to have a machine with dual mix that has access to the backup server and to those machines. It would be like a relay that you can install on the machine with a two-mix, and that machine can then connect to your backup server and to the other machines. You should be able to see the other machines on that network and be able to deploy to it and push jobs to it."
"Their support process can be quite lengthy...This is an area that needs improvement."
"There is room for improvement in the automation and orchestration aspects of this solution."
"Technical support needs improvement, they are not very responsive."
"Cost is definitely an area where the product could be improved."
"If you have a failover case, you need to work on it manually. It would be helpful if this could be automated. It would simplify things."
"The back sites sometimes are very, very complicated."
"There are many functionality problems with the product currently. It is also slow and unstable."
"We've had configuration issues on occasion. We start to fail over, and then we have to call it off because the configuration is not right, or the data stores aren't configured correctly in the secondary data center. Oftentimes, it is just the experience level of the team, and we have to bring in the vendor to help and validate our configuration."
"It would be good if this solution could integrate configuration management software such as Chef Infra."
