We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The software is very stable.""The product is a total solution with the FortiGate, switch, and access point. It is integrated with FortiGate, allowing us to manage all the equipment through it. You can handle everything from a single point.""I would rate the the ease of management and scalability within our network architecture an eight out of ten, with ten being best.""Fortinet FortiSwitch - Secure Access has essential features for managing switches.""What I really love in FortiSwitch: its usability, the graphical user interface, and the ability to be managed by FortiGate.""The most valuable feature is the security switch.""With FortiSwitch, you can easily identify who is connected to each port, disable ports as needed, and retrieve configurations from FortiGate when required.""The product is very secure."

"The thing that sets Juniper apart from most switches is that when you're in the command line and you make a configuration change, you just write the command and then say "commit confirmed minutes". For example, I'm configuring a switch here in my office, which is five miles away, and I say, "commit confirmed 5". If I can't get back to the interface within five minutes to be able to make sure the switch came up, it rolls back to the previous configuration. This way I do not get locked out, or the switch doesn't get messed up because of the incorrect configuration. That's an automatic feature, which is pretty slick. I haven't seen that feature with other vendors that I've worked with. That's probably my most favorite feature.""The feature I like the most is the ability to reword changes before committing to the change. We can always reword changes in 10 minutes if they don't work.""The platform is very stable in terms of consistency and reliability.""The setup phase was straightforward.""It is stable.""The most valuable feature is that Juniper is multiple kernels, so there's isolation, which means you won't get a process that runs away, creating problems across the whole platform.""This solution is impeccable.""Juniper Switches' best feature is its flexibility."

Cons
"The product could use more security related features.""Fortinet FortiSwitch - Secure Access is confusing with too many add-ons.""The scalability and technical support can be improved.""In the next release, I would like to see more outdoor products.""I give the stability a seven out of ten because we have noticed when we hook up phones the switching of ELANs et cetera doesn't work as it should.""It would also help if they lowered the cost of their service.""The reporting capabilities should be included.""More integration would be helpful, especially since we sometimes have devices from other companies. Improved interoperability would be very beneficial."

More Fortinet FortiSwitch - Secure Access Cons →

"They should integrate VPN functionality with the solution.""Its distribution channel and the ease of availability should be improved.""Juniper Ethernet Switches' tech support is hard to reach and slow.""The only issue that we have with Juniper Ethernet Switches is the firmware because it is not stable.""They could improve the code, as there are some issues with it.""The security features for the product should be more unified for the product regardless of the product model.""Stability could be better, especially during a reboot. We have had some issues recently with the software getting corrupt on reboot, which causes a lot of downtime.""The tool should improve its fabric."
