Stable solution with a wider boost functionality, helping us eliminate the tape backup requirements
We use the solution to protect the applications running in the cloud or on-premises. Its wider boost functionality helps us eliminate the tape backup requirements The solution's most valuable feature is throttling the applications as per the bandwidth. Using it, we can adapt a method to work on…

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
It's not a big use case. It's just to install and back up the users.  I recently had a project with a client with 500 users, and they wanted the client to back up from a specific folder or a specific file. I just deployed a backup portal, and then I pushed the agent on the client. I discover it, I…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"My customer has Dell EMC CloudBoost integrated with all of their other Dell products. It integrates well."
"The solution's support team is excellent."
"Application awareness is very good and the speed of this solution is good."
"Solution provides good security."
"The most valuable features are backup and restore. This solution is also easy to use."
"Veeam is very user-friendly and intuitive software."
"The most valuable feature is application availability, which allows us to monitor all agents and accounts."
"The initial setup was straightforward. It was very easy. Deployment only took about one hour with configuration and everything considered."
"The initial setup, if it is error-free, is very simple."
"The product is free to use. We don't have to pay for a license."

Cons

"They should eliminate the tape-out function from the solution."
"Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows should improve by having more features, easier deployment, and compatibility with Unix boxes."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"We can't use tape for primary storage on Veeam."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."
"The predictability of the solution needs improvement. Sometimes, if it's doing something at the back end, it may go slow. Today, the backup completion took four hours, but sometimes it can do the backup in 30 minutes or an hour. With solutions like NetBackup, I can predict to a much higher degree of certainty how long something will take to complete."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."
"I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers."
"There should be an option to use the solution for physical machines."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its cost depends upon the amount of data that needs to be protected."
"The price of Dell EMC CloudBoost could be reduced, it is expensive."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"We are on an annual license to use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. There are not any additional fees to use the solution."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"We have the Community Edition and I believe we bought a license for 200 instances. Veeam Agent is mainly used for our branch offices. Those only have one or two Hyper-V servers, so it's covered with the Community Edition. Basically, it's free. I remember Veeam 7.0 or 8.0 wasn't free, but the Community Edition is."
"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products."
"We have an annual license."
