What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is quite stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Aside from ease of use, scalability is one of the key points of this solution.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is good but usually, people don't have to contact them unless they have a really complicated installation.

How was the initial setup?

The length of time for deployment depends on the size of the environment. The bigger it is, the longer it takes to deploy. For an average deployment, including configuration, it will take about a week.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, this is a good product and I highly recommend it.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

The synchronization between our data centers is great and it's very functional in case of a failure
Pros and Cons
  • "I am very satisfied with the technical support."
  • "Perhaps the interface can be more intuitive."

What is our primary use case?

We mainly use Nutanix Prism for storage.

How has it helped my organization?

The programs is very functional in case of a failure, because snapshots are taken every 30 minutes, and we also have synchronization between our two data centers. So whenever  we have a failure, we have another data center that is responds for every machine we have.

What is most valuable?

The features I find most valuable, is the integration between data centers.

What needs improvement?

Perhaps the interface can be more intuitive. It's easy, but it is very slow at the beginning.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the latest version of Nutanix Prism for four years now.

How are customer service and technical support?

I am very satisfied with the technical support.

How was the initial setup?

We've had no issues with the setup and installation. In terms of time, it was very fast. In terms of testing, it was very slow, but when everything had been verified and updated, the latest patches and everything, the program was working great.

The deployment took about one month, and it was done by Nutanix people provided by Dell. We are satisfied with their work and we have an annual review of both systems.

What other advice do I have?

On a scale of one to ten, I will rate this solution an eight. What I'd like to see in the next release, is for it to be open to other platforms. That would be great, because now it's only available on Mac, IBM and Dell. Perhaps wide-open hardware would be great.

In the past we used to get alarms and an detector. Sometimes the messages you get from a problem doesn't point directly to the origin of the problem. So you have to elaborate some things for having a conclusion on what is failing. Perhaps they can improve this entire process, from beginning to the end, where you find a solution. In other words, being able to make the right decision faster.

Ability to have a single point to match things and simplicity of use are key benefits
Pros and Cons
  • "Simplicity of use."
  • "Does not yet have micro application using a company's provider."

What is our primary use case?

We have a data center and provide licenses to our customers. Our company uses this solution on private cloud and our customers generally use it on-prem. We are partners and resellers of Nutanix and I'm a systems engineer.

What is most valuable?

I like the simplicity of use and the ability to have a single point to match things.

What needs improvement?

We've been waiting a long time for micro application using a company's provider, that would be a good improvement. The cost of the solution is quite high and I'd like to see that lowered.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for six years.

How are customer service and technical support?

I think the technical support of Nutanix is one of the best supports I have used.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and takes about an hour.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In addition to the standard licensing fees there are extra costs for some functionalities such as capacity planning using Prism Pro.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution a 10 out of 10.

Good dashboards, integrates well with other products, and Prism Central is helpful
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features are the dashboards."
  • "In the next release, I would like the ability to browse data stores."

What is our primary use case?

We are a distributor and this is one of the solutions that we provide to our clients.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the dashboards.

Prism Central, which is an aggregation of many Prisms, is very helpful.

Extra products are able to integrate directly into the Prism console.

What needs improvement?

In the next release, I would like the ability to browse data stores directly from the Prism interface instead of using third party product.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Nutanix Prism for about five months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Nutanix Prism is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is scalable. Our customers are large, enterprise-level companies with more than 500 or 1,000 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

Nutanix has very good technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

A lot of my customers complain about the price of renewals, so I think that this can be improved.

What other advice do I have?

Nutanix Prism is a good solution and I recommend it.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Good centralized management that supports all hypervisors
Pros and Cons
  • "The centralized management of Nutanix Prism is the best feature."
  • "I think that the Nutanix Prism Pro the terms it uses, it's not very user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

I think Nutanix is a good solution for hyper-convergence. Since there isn't always a centralized management tool that can do everything like related that. Nutanix supports all the hypervisors, that's why I feel it's best.

What is most valuable?

The centralized management of Nutanix Prism is the best feature. I can upgrade the hardware and I can upgrade the software from there. So that's a good feature.

What needs improvement?

I think that the Nutanix Prism Pro the terms it uses, it's not very user-friendly. Those terms should be a little more user-friendly. What terms they use should be more user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Nutanix Prism for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't had any stability issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We haven't had any scalability issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've contacted Nutanix technical support. It was a good experience.

How was the initial setup?

Nutanix it is straightforward, not complex. Deploying Nutanix Prism Pro takes a maximum of one hour.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Nutanix Prism pricing is higher than other products. They sell hyper-convergence as a bundled product. That's why I bought Nutanix. If I'm going with another hypervisor apart from ASV, the price goes higher. That's where the problem is.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Nutanix Prism Pro at an eight out of ten.

Efficiently manage virtual machines with robust disaster recovery
Pros and Cons
  • "Nutanix Prism is mainly used for our daily operations, similar to VMware."
  • "Nutanix support is excellent, and their response time is extremely fast."
  • "The lifecycle management and upgrade procedure should be automated."
  • "The lifecycle management and upgrade procedure should be automated."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for our virtual machines, specifically for our production. We are running about twenty to thirty production VMs, which are critical.

What is most valuable?

Nutanix Prism is mainly used for our daily operations, similar to VMware. Despite the lack of extraordinary features, it efficiently manages our daily operations now that we are managing our VMs.

One of the most useful features is the disaster recovery setup, which includes two clusters, one for our production server and another for our recovery site.

What needs improvement?

The lifecycle management and upgrade procedure should be automated. With a single click, all critical upgrades should be completed.

Additionally, the presales and marketing team should inform clients about resource requirements, such as RAM used by CVM, to help manage expectations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Nutanix Prism for more than four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The entire Nutanix solution is stable. We haven't faced any major difficulties or end-user complaints related to Nutanix.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not faced any challenges with scalability. When scaling, we simply upgrade our cluster with the assistance of our local partner.

How are customer service and support?

Nutanix support is excellent, and their response time is extremely fast. I rate their customer service at ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used VMware but switched to Nutanix mainly because Nutanix offered a composite solution for disaster recovery with RPO zero, while VMware did not.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was managed by our partner, so we did not personally handle it.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was completed by our local partner who also supports us with upgrades and scalability.

What was our ROI?

The return on investment is positive. Initially, the CapEx was higher than VMware's, but considering the operational cost over time, it has been beneficial.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

At first, the cost seemed heavy, but over time, its cost-effectiveness became evident.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated VMware before deciding to switch to Nutanix.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Nutanix Prism nine out of ten.

It’s important for future customers to know the resource usage by CVM should be clearly communicated in the presales stage.
