Good article because it is very objective. At a previous company we used Dynatrace and the tool is so detailed you can get the details of the keystrokes of an actual end user when troubleshooting where a production situation occurred.

Nice article Judith. However, I am a little baffled about your comment stating UFT only works with Internet Explorer. UFT also works with Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. The user just needs to add the extension for the Browser they want to use.

Interesting article. Referring to your comment about having to update the script when the UI changes, you are correct. I have found that running in “Maintenance Mode” is the quickest way to update a script when the UI changes.

I updated my review and the significant takeaway is that HPE sold its software testing tools to Micro Focus and on September 1, 2017 the HPE testing tools including ALM and Quality Center officially have been rebranded to Micro Focus.

Yes there are situations sometimes like you described. HP is pretty good at releasing patches to fix a situation you described. Have you checked the Support Site to see if there is a patch released for this situation?

With regards to Microsoft Edge, I did more research on this using UFT 12.54. Microsoft Edge uses the Microsoft Webdriver to interact with UFT 12.54. Note, it is recommended to use Windows build 10.576 and greater to get better functionality with Edge browser and UFT 12.54.

I have experienced the scenario where a UFT script stored in QC gets locked and becomes read only. You are correct that the QC Admin has to disconnect the user session to unlock it.

I wanted to add a comment on my review. UFT has the functionality to have more than one test open at a time which is a big improvement because it allows the developer to copy and paste code from one test to another. With QTP you could have only one test open at a time.
