We performed a comparison between IBM Public Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two PaaS Clouds solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."What I like most in IBM Public Cloud is how easy it is to create serverless functions. They are called IBM functions, but in AWS, they are called Lambda functions. Those are pretty standard, and another thing I like the most is that you have fewer restrictions on the amount of data you can transfer across those functions. IBM Public Cloud is way more flexible than AWS. I also like that IBM Public Cloud is pretty straightforward to integrate. As long as you have all the tools IBM provides you, getting everything up and running is straightforward."
"For non-complex applications, the IBM Cloud works fine and the price is much lower than the competitors."
"It's straightforward, has a good environment and is cost-effective."
"The beauty of cloud service providers, especially public cloud service providers, is that they are scalable every time when you need them because their payment model is pay-as-you-go."
"The availability is second to none. Customer support is very good."
"The initial setup was very easy. It's quite straightforward. Deployment took about fifteen minutes. Everything is well organized."
"I've found the stability to be excellent. The performance is good."
"This is a predictable and dependable service."
"The solution offers many features and it is a complete replica of our data center."
"The environment is super fast so you get all the underlying machines behind the data. It's a good processing machine, especially in the Generation Two Cloud."
"The most valuable features of the solution are APEX, Threat Detector, and Cloud Guard."
"We use the solution for EC2. It helps me to create around six servers for free to test out things. It also provides me with an authenticated cloud nameserver. We also use it as a wireguard endpoint."
"The solution is pretty straightforward to setup and use."
"You can customize everything according to your preferences. I've reached out to customer support many times. I highly recommend using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. With the product, you have complete control over the management of your system."
"I find the interface to be great."
"I head the sales and marketing team. So, specifically on the feature set side, multi-tenancy is the one that I'm most familiar with. It's also the one that we found to be the most beneficial to us because it allows us to take clients that have multiple sites. For instance, one of our larger clients, which is a bank based out of South Africa, has offices in multiple countries. It allows us to multi-tenant each and create a tenant for each country within multi-tenanted architecture."
"They could improve on customizing reporting capabilities."
"The solution needs to be more autonomous. It should let the DL go to allow for more jobs on the cloud. It could have a better interface as well."
"The initial setup and the pricing are areas that need improvement."
"While they have about 99% of what we need, the only exception, perhaps, was the push notification feature that was discontinued. They delayed the replacement product."
"I would like to see a more user-friendly deployment process in the next release of this solution."
"It could be more secure."
"Maybe performance enhancers and reports could be better improved. If they do so, it would be better. Of all the drawbacks I saw, this would be the biggest enhancement."
"The deployment can be a bit of a pain. There are a lot of packages and a lot of options and it can require complex configuration to get it right."
"I would like more technical expertise."
"I work with many clouds and I would say, in comparison, others have a better presentation of services and they have clearer steps in terms of implementation."
"OCI's user interface is awful and needs to be modernized."
"One improvement that would be helpful is the addition of a replication option on their Standard Edition OD service. Currently, this option is not available, which leads many customers to move to the Enterprise edition. However, other cloud service providers, such as Amazon AWS offer replication options at a similar tier. It would be beneficial if Oracle also explored providing this option for their Standard Edition service."
"Pricing could be improved considering competition and market conditions."
"The product's technical support is an area with shortcomings that need improvement."
"Oracle Cloud could improve AI. The design elements could be done better."
"There should be more management automation."
