We performed a comparison between Nakivo and Veeam Backup Replication based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, Nakivo finishes ahead of Veeam. Users felt that Nakivo helped reduce costs, has excellent automation and is very scalable. Nakivo helped users save time due to its simplistic, reliable processes. However, Veeam users did feel that Veeam’s cloud version needs more maturity to be competitive in today's market.
"Nakivo offers direct support through the graphical interface and this is great to have if you need quick help."
"The product is good for protecting very low-budget offices, whereas other solutions fail in terms of cost and footprint of the VMs involved."
"The ability to use a variety of cloud providers rather than being tied into one is a huge bonus."
"It is easy to set up using the included virtual appliance and also includes agents for most NAS systems."
"Nakivo has improved our organization largely due to the fact that it is an extremely robust backup system."
"We spend less time to get data recovered."
"The implementation of Nakivo made it possible to implement the information security policies currently in force in the company and to meet the statutory requirements in the field of IT security."
"We have found all the features of Nakivo to be useful and the solution is easier to use compared to Proxmox. It is user-friendly, we are very satisfied."
"Replication Job base on a source HPE Catalyst store to perform a full reconstruction of our production systems on our third datacenter, which is our DRP Site."
"Its performance is fine. It supports us very well. It is able to support our policy for RTO, RPO, and other things that we need."
"Once you get it set up, everything is smooth, and the recovery is excellent."
"I know it's not exactly a feature, but I accept it works and it's easy to use. With the Veeam Backup & Replication, we have no problems in managing restore. Obviously, the most important thing about backup software. I used to say that every backup software can make backups, but only good ones can make a restore."
"The most valuable features are the backup and restoration of our VMs. Additionally, they add features regularly."
"The initial setup is simple to do in Veeam Backup Replication."
"The documentation is very good. It's also easy to install Veeam Backup and Replication."
"I'm pleased with the ability to search for documents; it's very useful."
"We'd like to see more cooperation with Synology. It can be enhanced to get updates published faster to Synology's store."
"It would be good to have some Oracle database backup capability from the Linux OS in the next release."
"I would like to have a built-in SNMP client, which is important if we want to monitor it using Zabbix, Nagios, or another monitoring solution."
"More statistic options would be a great feature."
"Log and report creation can be improved."
"Updating VM Tools on a replicated VM could be better."
"While the solution provides mostly what we need, it would be ideal if there were some additional feature capabilities for the API."
"Implementing more comprehensive data deduplication and compression techniques could optimize storage utilization and reduce backup times, improving overall efficiency."
"Veeam Backup Replication could improve by having better integration with the cloud. Additionally, they do not have direct integration to S3 or Azure storage for the backups of the VMs. This feature would be beneficial because we have to go through the scalable repository which I do not like."
"There is a lot of room for improvement, but the primary issue we have is that it's not built for the cloud."
"We're using both Backup and Replication, Veeam Cloud Connect, and Veeam Office 365. What I am missing is a good graphical user interface between these three products."
"Limited support for environments other than VMware or Microsoft."
"They need full cloud integration such that an on-premises backup can be offloaded to the cloud for storage."
"The cloud part of it can be improved. There should be an option for Veeam in your own cloud, as compared to the Veeam cloud offering that's currently there. The rest of it is easy."
"If they could add more support for all of the modern hypervisors, that would make Veeam much better and more flexible to work with. For example, there is no solution for VM to VM replication when it comes to Oracle OEM servers."
"I would like to see more broad support for other applications such as databases, or other operating systems."

The functionalities are almost the same. Nakivo is available at a lower price.
If you don't need advanced storage integration there is no difference.
Nakivo offer almost the same functionality of Veeam at a lower price.
They have the same functionality except that Nakivo allows the backups to be immutable, thus, providing protection against malware (backups cannot be moved, deleted or changed) It has 1/3 of the price but sometimes there is a direct deal.
For me, Nakivo has all Veeam features and also supports Oracle RMAN backup.
Nakivo has a very flexible deployment compared with Veeam (it supports the deployment using Windows and SQL only). It can be installed on NAS, VA, and many more. Most of the things have a reasonable price.
