We have more than 500 people using the solution right now.

How are customer service and support?

We've never dealt with Cisco technical support. I cannot speak from direct experience about how helpful or responsive they are.

We are in Iran. We are unable to take advantage of technical support due to sanctions.

The solution handles routing depending on whether you're using the new version or the older one for managing up to five hundred devices. Scalability is not an issue, but the GUI and performance need improvement
    Pros and Cons
    • "Scalability is not an issue as long as you are able to buy additional licenses. Ten percent of our customers use Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center, and we have large accounts with 50% of their end users behind this firewall."
    • "Cisco firewalls use old ESR or a Linux system, and there are problems with encryption. When we switch on encryption, the throughput goes down."

    What is most valuable?

The Integrated Configuration Environment (ICE) is good along with the security packs.

The logs are very helpful when investigating problems.

    What needs improvement?

The GUI needs to be improved, and I'd like to see better performance particularly with VMware installation. There are slowness issues.

Cisco firewalls use old ESR or a Linux system, and there are problems with encryption. When we switch on encryption, the throughput goes down.

It would be good to have information on the correlation of logs for a botnet attack, for example.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using it for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would give stability a seven out of ten because sometimes things will be missing after deployment. The use of HA causes problems.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is not an issue as long as you are able to buy additional licenses. Ten percent of our customers use Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center, and we have large accounts with 50% of their end users behind this firewall.

How are customer service and support?

Cisco's technical support is not reliable. Some engineers know the issue you're dealing with and are able to help, and others are not.

    How was the initial setup?

Depending on the environment, the initial setup can be complex.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center has the best price on the market.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at Panorama Firewall Management by Palo Alto and FortiManager by Fortinet. All of the secure firewall products seem to be the same, but Panorama and FortiManager are more reliable and have a few more features.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center at seven out of ten.
