Unifies Network Resources with Multi-Link Support
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Forcepoint Web Security is creating the easy to install further policies that are deployed through the Forcepoint security manual at some stage. Just drag and drop and the policies are there."
  • "The firewall doesn't have any features because some customers are requesting they will install the firewall without licensing. At this time we cannot go further without licensing. Licensing is a must with Forcepoint Web Security firewalls."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use that we have for Forcepoint Web Security is for server clusters plus multi-link sites, sites that require not multi-linked ISPs.

We use Forcepoint Web Security for multi-cluster servers with multi-links so that we can cluster all the multi-links into one link.

How has it helped my organization?

For our organization, when we initially deployed Forcepoint Web Security, we were looking to have four different ISP's joined, all the ISP's as one.

We wanted to utilize all of the network resources in a unified manner. We didn't want to waste other ISP resources. That is the reason why we purchased this firewall.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Forcepoint Web Security is creating the easy to install policies that are deployed through the Forcepoint security manual at some stage. Just drag and drop and the policies are there. The cluster is very easy in comparison with other firewalls and the multi-link VPN support is there.

What needs improvement?

For improvement, we cannot deploy the Forcepoint Web Security firewall directly without ISP. The firewall doesn't have any features because some customers are requesting they will install the firewall without licensing.

At this time we cannot go further without licensing. Licensing is a must with Forcepoint Web Security firewalls.

I'm not sure that those features are included with Forcepoint Web Security. We checked the other features but we have not checked out their performance.

For how long have I used the solution?

More than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of Forcepoint Web Security is very good. I have no issues from the customers. They are very happy with the product.

If you are testing any firewalls, there is no downtime with Forcepoint Web Security. We can directly upgrade our firewalls and we can remove the old plans. We can apply newer plans without any downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability with Forcepoint I would rate with an eight out of ten. It is pretty scalable. You can upgrade if you want to expand.

We have a major customer, they are using it with more than 12,000 users. There are currently two security admins and a network admin. They're managing all the firewalls.

We have a total of 55 firewalls under Forcepoint Web Security. In a year, we are planning to buy new firewalls and expand.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support with Forcepoint Web Security is very good.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. Deployment, like the initial setup, to configure with the licensing, can be done in two days.

Our use of Forcepoint Web Security is not built on the calculation or the policies, i.e. how the configuration will take place. Based on that, we have two different areas.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing on Forcepoint Web Security is fair. Fair pricing at current market rates, if you are comparing with the competition.

Forcepoint Web Security is better than Fortinet because Fortinet is free. They still come under the enterprise level of security implementation though.

What other advice do I have?

It is easy to deploy Forcepoint Web Security for whatever type of policies there are out there. We can manage any of our firewalls through one console. Our users prefer Forcepoint Web Security over any other firewall. We look for what the policy of the firewall is and through the console, we can run all the firewall settings.

With Forcepoint Web Security, we can push the policies to all the firewalls. For the upgrade, it can be implemented with no downtime.

I would rate Forcepoint Web Security an eight out of ten. It is easy so we can understand what the policies are and which policy belongs to which firewalls.

There is no downtime when we are building any firewalls. If any firewall goes down, there will be little to no impact.

Good web security, reliable, and is a pretty simple solution
Pros and Cons
  • "It's stable and reliable."
  • "The initial setup can be complex."

What is our primary use case?

It protects against data leaks and offers us application security.

What is most valuable?

The solution is a combination of Gatsby web security and the LP. That is why we are pushing Forcepoint ONE. Forcepoint ONE is a product itself that Forcepoint has been recently pushing to the customers.

The product is simple.

It's stable and reliable.

What needs improvement?

They will require a combination of other brands and other products that actually caters to the data leak portion. Forcepoint ONE, for example, covers for the data leak itself, however, it's just data leaks. In order to have comprehensive security protection for your data, you will need other products, like data encryption. You will need privileged access management and endpoint security to make the Forcepoint product more robust.

The initial setup can be complex.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for about three years. The company I work for has been working with it for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

If you are looking for just data leaks and web security, the product itself should suffice, however, if you want to make your solution or your cyber portion more robust, then you will require other products to be embedded as well to work hand in hand, for your information to be more secure.

How are customer service and support?

Being the distributor for Forcepoint, we have our own engineers to cover from day zero to day two in terms of engineering support for deployment and forming payments and also for troubleshooting. We do leverage Forcepoint, however, we have our own in-house engineers to assist Forcepoint to cover the clinical aspect.

How was the initial setup?

In terms of the policy, the initial setup can be complex.

The solution is simple, however, the complexity comes when you are writing the policy for the data leak part. Even web security is all policy. You would need to translate your business requirements into cyber security requirements so that basically whatever policy that is being in place, covers your business requirements for your cyber footprint.

What about the implementation team?

We help our customers or partners deploy the solution.

What other advice do I have?

We are the authorized distributor for Forcepoint in Asia-Pacific.

Currently, we are pushing Forcepoint ONE into the market.

The thing to consider at the outset is, basically, what they want to protect. Are you protecting internal factors or are you looking at protecting from external factors? Forcepoint DLP covers the internal factor, meaning that you do not want your data to be compromised from internal leaks, and not external. If you're looking to protect against external anomalies, then basically it's Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway that you should be looking at.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

The Sandbox is a very useful solution for sand-boxing malware / phishing etc.
Pros and Cons
  • "Email Sandbox, DLP and Proxy."
  • "Reports in the sand-boxing, ease of deployment of sensors to ready to go server with one click of a button."

What is most valuable?

Email Sandbox, DLP and Proxy.

How has it helped my organization?

The Sandbox is a very useful solution for sand-boxing malware / phishing etc. from corporate email accounts. No matter whether it's on Office 365, Exchange (on-premise), or Google (or any other cloud). The Sandbox updates on a regular basis, and the flexibility of policy configuration, white-listing is pretty good.

What needs improvement?

Reports in the sand-boxing, ease of deployment of sensors to ready to go server with one click of a button.

I think there is room to improve the reporting area of the solution and also the investigation part, a basic section where you see the body and headers of each email and the reason it got blocked.

For how long have I used the solution?

Six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

If you implement it correctly you wont have an issue.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

If you implement it correctly you wont have an issue.

How are customer service and technical support?

Support by vendor is low-medium. You need to rely on yourself or your integrator.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Mcafee GW. Wasn't satisfied at all both in the general UI and ease of configuration.

How was the initial setup?

Straightforward. Very easy to implement.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Expensive, but with a good reseller you can get a very good price.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I'm familiar with plenty of competitor solutions, tried most of the top solutions.

What other advice do I have?

Get your self a good reseller, and good integrator (don't do it by yourself).

Many issues, including poor support, but easy initial setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is not complex."
  • "To access the root of the product for troubleshooting you must have a data engineer. This is the big issue with Forcepoint. The support community is not good."

What is our primary use case?

Our customers' primary use case in the banking sector is for URL history.

What needs improvement?

Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway has a lot of issues like troubleshooting and massive troubleshooting which require technical support. A lot of the product is not accessible. You must ask the tech support to communicate to open the root of the product - so that's an issue. But with Cisco you can access the product and troubleshoot.

To access the root of the product for troubleshooting you must have a data engineer. This is the big issue with Forcepoint. The support community is not good.

The management should be directed to the object itself. They have to make a more flexible management so you can access a device using a normal web browser or you can access a device using a management tool.

For how long have I used the solution?

Our company has been working with this product for about four years.

Our company prefers Forcepoint, but I prefer Cisco.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There is one issue with Forcepoint that you can't communicate directly with the update. You must have something called the management center to communicate. For Cisco you can communicate directly. With Forcepoint you cannot communicate directly

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scaling is not good with Forcepoint. Even high availability with Forcepoint is not good.

We do have a lot of customers using Forcepoint.

Yes, we have a lot of plans to increase usage because it's the only product we have. There is no other.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex, but requires being setup from the beginning. There is no default setting, so you must go to the console and configure the product from the beginning. It takes about 10 days.

What other advice do I have?

This product, especially Web Gateway, has only a small vendor working with it.

On a scale of one to ten, I would give Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway a five.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Enables us to retrieve and analyze lost data
Pros and Cons
  • "Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway has improved our organization through its ease of use."
  • "A feature we wish to see addressed in the next release of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway involves its administration."

What is our primary use case?

We make use of a host of features offered by Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway. We primarily use it to analyze cloud-based data which enters and exits our company through external web access. We retrieve all the data for analysis of any external transactions as these relate to the application of messages.

How has it helped my organization?

Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway has improved our organization through its ease of use. It is not a slow product. It has numerous features that give us control over suspicious and malicious transactions. We can also integrate it for security management purposes.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway is the ability to retrieve and analyze lost data. It also allows us to detect and prevent the release of all messages and to take appropriate actions in consequence.

What needs improvement?

A feature of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway that can be improved is the speed of data analysis.

Also, there should be enhanced detection when it comes to the loading of encrypted data.

A feature we wish to see addressed in the next release of the product involves its administration.

I do not consider the product to be excellent and would rate it an eight out of ten.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway for around three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I like the stability of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway and feel it to be very useful.

How are customer service and technical support?

I would evaluate Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway's technical support for a first time user as an eight out of nine.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of the product did not take long and was uncomplicated. Its deployment took three days.

What about the implementation team?

We deployed by outsourcing to an open source software company and took courses to familiarize ourselves with the product's features.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Overall, I am not aware of the option to pay for one time use of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway. We sometimes take out a monthly subscription to the product but prefer to do so on an annual basis.

What other advice do I have?

The versions of Forcepoint Secure Web Gateway that we currently use are 6.5 through 6.7.

We decided to go with it to enhance our main security features. This made a lot of sense, as antenna extensions between users is generally required.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

More scalable than most
Pros and Cons
  • "In terms of performance, Forcepoint stands out because it is more scalable than any other solution. It can extend to different types of boxes and integrate well with other platforms and vendors. And it doesn't need to have the same kind of box or throughput to have high availability."
  • "But the deployment could be easier. It might take from one day to three days. Usually, that involves an engineer from the vendor and a working team at the enterprise."

What is our primary use case?

Our customers are government agencies, and we recommended Forcepoint to add an extra layer of security to their data centers. It's the second layer of protection on top of a layer from another vendor.  And one week ago, we recommended a data leakage prevention solution from Forcepoint for another agency, but this project hasn't started yet.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've only recommended Forcepoint to one client so far, and they've been using it for only a few months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Forcepoint is more stable than FortiGate and all the others.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

In terms of performance, Forcepoint stands out because it is more scalable than any other solution. It can extend to different types of boxes and integrate well with other platforms and vendors. And it doesn't need to have the same kind of box or throughput to have high availability. So Fortinet is the most scalable of all the security systems in the same category.

How was the initial setup?

With any box security, we need vendor support during the first installation each time. After that, we don't need any support for operations. But the deployment could be easier. It might take from one day to three days. Usually, that involves an engineer from the vendor and a working team at the enterprise.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I think Forcepoint's price is average.

Good security categorization and resolution options, with helpful and responsive technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the categorization, where you can allow general access to an application but limit specific features."
  • "The deployment is a bit complex and it requires expertise to deploy, which is something that should be improved and made easier to do."

What is our primary use case?

We are a professional services company and I use this solution in my office, but I also implement it for some of my customers. This product is used as a security gateway, and more generally, as part of an internet security solution.

I have some customers who have deployed this solution on-premises, while others have a hybrid cloud deployment using Azure or AWS.

How has it helped my organization?

I can now go to sleep not being bothered of users accessing sites that are wasteful or can compromise security.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the categorization, where you can allow general access to an application but limit specific features. For example, you can allow a user to access Facebook, yet restrict their ability to stream Facebook videos or download pictures. The same thing can be done on services like YouTube. A similar example is that of online storage solutions, where you can approve storage collaboration with Office 365 SharePoint, but limit them from using OneDrive or Box.

I really like the fact that you aren't required to get a Forcepoint appliance. It can be deployed on a VM and I am happy to have my own servers.

Forcepoint integrates well with other appliances.

What needs improvement?

The deployment is a bit complex and it requires expertise to deploy, which is something that should be improved and made easier to do.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Forcepoint Web Security for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not had any problems with the stability of Forcepoint.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have been in contact with technical support and they are great. Every time I call for assistance, they always help. Whether it is weekdays or weekends, if I need a technical session or I request materials or ask them to guide me through something, they've always been very helpful. If you have a pending case then they call you to give you updates and see what else can be done to resolve the problem. They don't allow you to just hunt down issues on your own. Rather, they will help and you are assured that they will work with you.

This is the kind of assurance that we give to our customers or anybody else who is looking into implementing Forcepoint. Especially in my region, I am very confident with the helpfulness and capability of the support, no matter who the customer is.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am a reseller for many different types of security solutions, and I have a preference in favor of Forcepoint. There are downsides to other solutions that I have not encountered with Forcepoint, and moreover, the support in my region is massive.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment is a bit complex. If you have all of the prerequisites and know all of the sites then the deployment can be done in a few days or a week. It's very rare not to encounter issues because customers will make requests, and you get stuck because of the different environments. You have to contact the customer to figure out how to resolve problems, and it can be time-consuming. The important thing is to have the planning done before starting the implementation.

The simple part of the deployment is the installation on the VM. You just have to get the license, visit the support portal, download the image, and install it on the virtual machine. When deploying on the cloud, you just have to make sure that you have space in Azure.

What about the implementation team?

We have an in-house team to handle deployment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The Prices are fair and you are assured of getting the value for your money.

What other advice do I have?

Forcepoint looks ahead at what is needed and they seem to be on track. Two years ago, they knew what they would be doing in 2020, and they are on the right path.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
