Its function is related to the licensing framework.
Covers all operations within a secure territory at affordable pricing
Pros and Cons
- "Its function is related to the licensing framework."
- "The current high-tech version of FortiSASE is not recommended due to its heavy loading."
How has it helped my organization?
What is most valuable?
Depending on their security search capabilities, they can cover all operations within a secure territory. It is better than other product solutions.
What needs improvement?
The current high-tech version of FortiSASE is not recommended due to its heavy loading. Additionally, its pricing is not suitable for handling high-scale, complex traffic. Deploying and managing reports still requires significant time and effort.
An endpoint solution is required to enable enterprises to configure and manage digital user experiences, especially in the IT department. They aim to monitor every console, department, and user experience and provide a general report. Fortinet offers extensive integration capabilities, which depend on the size and framework of your organization.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using FortiSASE since 2023.

How are customer service and support?
Customer service is doing very well because they have the data on the IT department in Taiwan.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
The leading competitor is Check Point. SharePoint was a major competitor, but FortiSASE has emerged as a significant player. By launching the SaaS solution, FortiSASE can gain more attention from small business IT managers and CTOs. They should consider Fortinet's offerings, including on-premises and cloud solutions. FortiSASE's integration with digital experience management on the cloud platform offers a competitive edge. With further integrations at various layers, FortiSASE seems to outperform other brands. It is a new solution because they launched it in the 2024 first quarter. It's a very new solution in the entire market.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's very affordable for a small business.
What other advice do I have?
I recommend that my customer use this solution.
I rate the solution an eight-point five out of ten.

Improvements in GUI are required, but offers straightforward integration capabilities
Pros and Cons
- "The integration with the company's existing security infrastructure enhanced our security posture since it was a straightforward process."
- "The GUI and connectivity, along with the support offered, are some of the areas of concern in the product where improvements are required."
What is our primary use case?
I have dealt with two or three PoCs involving FortiSASE. I use FortiSASE for remote network access.
What needs improvement?
The product is new in the market, so I feel that there are a lot of developments to be done in the solution. The GUI and connectivity, along with the support offered, are some of the areas of concern in the product where improvements are required.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using FortiSASE for three to four months. I use the solution's latest version. My company has a partnership with Fortinet.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is not a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a four out of ten.
The product works at times, and sometimes, it does not work.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a four out of ten.
The product is used in the PoC phase in our company, so there are only 10 to 15 users, consisting of administrators and managers, of the tool currently.
How are customer service and support?
The solution's technical support takes weeks to respond to a query. I rate the technical support a one or two out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Negative
How was the initial setup?
I rate the product's deployment phase a nine to ten out of ten.
The solution is deployed on the public cloud. The product is hosted in Fortinet's cloud.
The solution can be deployed in two to three hours.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing of the product is okay, in my opinion. I rate the product price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is high price, and ten is low price.
What other advice do I have?
I use FortiSASE to secure the remote workforce, as my company uses ZTNA and other security protection measures.
FortiSASE has improved secure access for our company's distributed offices with the help of ZTNA.
The most beneficial feature of the product in protecting our company's network stems from the fact that the tool provides multiple features like antivirus, IPS, and sandboxing.
The integration with the company's existing security infrastructure enhanced our security posture since it was a straightforward process.
There is no need to take care of the maintenance of the product since it is a cloud-based tool.
In terms of the product's ability to have an impact on our organization, we are only checking the connectivity and not the performance part.
Currently, I would not recommend the solution to others since there are too many areas to be developed or improved in the product. There are better options at a better rate available in the market against FortiSASE.
I rate the overall tool a five out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Flag as inappropriateOffers category-based blocking of URLs but missing application segmentation
Pros and Cons
- "It has AI-based detections for any signature-less virus or any unknown vulnerabilities."
- "There are some issues at the agent level, and then we have to sign out and sign in."
What is our primary use case?
It is a hybrid solution. It's a competitor of Zscaler, where it can be deployed for hybrid setups. Like, if the users are not coming to the office, we can build up a firewall in the local system itself. There, we can restrict URLs and limit access to the internet.
How has it helped my organization?
We can improve and restrict the network security of the organization. FortiSASE is very helpful for category-based blocking of URLs. We can restrict websites like YouTube, Facebook, adult content, gambling, or political websites. We can also block cloud applications like Google Drive and OneDrive.
And we can restrict tenants, meaning personal logins should not be allowed on office devices, so they can't access organizational data.
What is most valuable?
It has AI-based detections in terms of any signature-less virus or any unknown vulnerabilities. Those things will be identified using artificial intelligence. Like, machine learning technology is in-built for detecting threats, and Trojan and phishing attacks can be detected.
What needs improvement?
If they had application segmentation, we could give secure access to applications. That is not there.
I had security challenges, again, with regard to the Internet connectivity. Sometimes the agent will not install properly. There are some issues at the agent level, and then we have to sign out and sign in. Those basic troubleshooting steps. We have some issues with that at the agent level.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using it for two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I faced issues with stability. Stability is a little bit less because sometimes we used to face a lot of issues with that, and some of the applications would not connect. Some certificate issues would be coming there. Then we have to upgrade the agent.
I would rate the stability a seven out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability can increase. If you want to implement any new things and extend the license, it is very easy. There is not that much complexity in the scalability.
As of now, we have used it for only up to 5,000 users.
How are customer service and support?
We have raised multiple tickets for cases, but we didn't receive the exact support we needed. There is some lag in the technical support. But, it's manageable. There is a delay of one or two days, then we got a resolution.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is basically easy from the user's point of view. It is not that much complicated.
Implementation is easy to implement also. It will take one week. It's not that complicated.
We can easily implement that within two weeks. Even if it is long-term, we can use the deployment, and we can push the policies. That we can do easily.
What about the implementation team?
Our team has six to seven technical guys.
What was our ROI?
The benefit is for hybrid work. After COVID, with the hybrid setup, people can benefit from this solution. They can do their workflow smoothly without any interruption.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
License is yearly-based.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate my experience with this product a seven out of ten, with ten being best and one being worst.
It is advisable to inquire about the support level and the product efficiency.

Though it is a scalable solution, the security part requires improvement
Pros and Cons
- "I feel that it is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
- "Security and support are two areas with certain shortcomings in the product where improvements are required."
What is our primary use case?
My company's clients use FortiSASE as a ZTNA solution to secure all the machines and VPN connections and also as a CASB solution.
What is most valuable?
Almost all the solutions, like FortiSASE, are the same in the backend, and the only differentiation between these products is possible based on the variations in the support and pricing offered to users. The support and price offered by the product are good. The pricing model of a product is very important for users in a country like India.
What needs improvement?
Though in our company, we use some endpoint security, the malware still bypasses the firewall, which is something that we should generally have been able to catch with the endpoint security in place. The aforementioned area needs to be considered for improvement. In terms of security, FortiSASE needs to be better.
Security and support are two areas with certain shortcomings in the product where improvements are required.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using FortiSASE for less than a year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
My company has so far never encountered any issues with the product, so I feel that it is a stable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable solution.
My company caters to the needs of small and medium-sized companies that use FortiSASE.
How are customer service and support?
Our company receives strong support for FortiSASE. The service provided by the support team of the solution prioritizes the users who have opted for the product's licensing. My company cannot raise tickets under priority one or priority two since we are only allowed to raise tickets based on the license we have chosen.
I rate the technical support a six out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have experience with a solution under Palo Alto Networks, but I am not very familiar with it. Compared to Palo Alto Networks, FortiSASE offers better installation and pricing models.
How was the initial setup?
The product's initial setup phase was very easy compared to Palo Alto Networks.
The solution can be deployed in two weeks.
A maximum of three people are required to take care of the deployment of the solution, while only one person is required to maintain the product.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I rate the product's price a six on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price.
What other advice do I have?
My company has only a few customers who have used FortiSASE since we started with it recently. My company is mainly concerned with the firewall offered by FortiGate.
I rate the overall tool a seven out of ten.

Complex setup process highlights need for streamlined management but competitive service offerings still provided
Pros and Cons
- "I find Fortinet to be competitive with its firewalls."
- "I do not recommend FortiSASE for everyone."
What is our primary use case?
I am a reseller, and I work with both Cato and Fortinet products. I have been primarily reselling Fortinet switches, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and SD-WAN solutions.
What is most valuable?
I find Fortinet to be competitive with its firewalls. However, I feel that they are lacking a bit in their SASE solution. Their firewalls are strong in the competitive market, while the SASE solution requires combining different platforms for a complete service.
What needs improvement?
I believe the SASE solution from Fortinet requires improvement by developing a cloud management platform that handles tasks like setting up SD-WAN and automating firmware updates. Additionally, I find the current setup to be more complicated due to the involvement of multiple platforms, unlike the simpler setup provided by Cato. I think Fortinet should offer more self-service options and automation for firmware updates.
How was the initial setup?
I find the initial setup of Fortinet's solution, including FortiSASE, to be complicated because it is distributed across different platforms, unlike Cato, which offers a simpler setup.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I have not fully explored the costs yet, but when dealing solely with firewalls and switches, I find Fortinet's pricing to be competitive. However, when combining everything for a full SASE solution, I notice the pricing becomes quite high.
What other advice do I have?
I do not recommend FortiSASE for everyone. I still recommend Fortinet for some SD-WAN and employee installations, switches, and Wi-Fi, but I am hesitant about FortiSASE. I prefer to wait for a combined platform that offers a unified setup. Based on what I've seen, I would rate FortiSASE a five out of ten.
