We are using Cisco Umbrella as our primary SASE solution. It's a permanent part of our network. We use it for hybrid work, but we also use it for our employees onsite as well. We use Umbrella to front all of our DNS requests and this way our end-users are protected from browsing any kind of malicious sites. It doesn't matter if they're in-house at one of our company locations, or if they're in a remote location working from home. This is one of the biggest advantages - that we are able to protect our end-users, no matter where they are.
Cisco Umbrella is very user-friendly; it was extremely easy to set up on our end. We just read the documentation, configured some settings, changed the DNS on our company’s servers, and then we were set. It was a pain-free deployment. Cisco Umbrella also updates automatically, so we don’t have to worry about upgrades.
It has really helped us make our entire system a lot more centralized. What we have set up now are physical and virtual proxies, spread out in our different locations. Each location has its own proxy at the moment. What we really like about using Umbrella is that we can just go into the dashboard site and gain visibility into all of our locations in one central screen. We can see all of our computers, users, etc. Umbrella enables us to see everything all at once, which is really very useful for us, since we don't have to try to figure out who's where and which location needs a specific change. We can make updates to all our locations’ proxies at the same time.
One of my favorite features is the Summary feature. You simply have to type in a URL; Umbrella will display an overall summary of how safe that website appears. This allows us to investigate and block sites that might be harmful.
Cisco Umbrella is very reliable and powerful. It certainly allows us to remediate threats more quickly and we never experience virus outbreaks. It prevents viruses from reaching us early in the process.
The support Cisco provides for this product is excellent. The support staff is very professional and helpful. They always respond to me and help with any issues I have. They even taught me how to do my own debugging. I would rate them a 10 out of 10.
The price of Cisco Umbrella is very fair. We only pay for licenses. Cisco provided us with an excellent deal. It is definitely an easy cost for us to handle.
In summary, here are a few advantages to using Cisco Umbrella:
Easy management: With Cisco Umbrella you have complete visibility and management access into all your proxies and endpoints.
Security: With Cisco Umbrella, your endpoints are safe from viruses and malware.
Excellent support: Support is friendly and helpful.
Easy deployment: Installation is fast and easy.
Scalable: It takes only a few minutes to install the solution on any number of devices.
The one downside I can think of with this solution is that it isn’t always easy to integrate with other solutions. All in all, though, it is still an excellent product. I rate it a 10 out of 10.
SASE is a new approach to network security that converges network and security capabilities into a single, cloud-delivered service. SASE provides a number of benefits over traditional network security solutions.
