What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Radware LinkProof a nine out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable, and I rate Radware LinkProof a nine out of ten for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I rate Radware LinkProof an eight out of ten for customer support. Whenever we raise a case at their site, it takes three to four hours for their customer support people to communicate with us.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was easy. Radware LinkProof takes three days to deploy.

You have to understand the different areas where you have to provide Radware LinkProof and where you have to increase it. Then you have to configure them one by one along with the proxy configuration so that it will work from outside to inside.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Radware LinkProof is neither cheap nor expensive. I rate Radware LinkProof a six or seven out of ten for pricing.

What other advice do I have?

One person can do the configuration for Radware LinkProof, but more people will be needed to complete the configuration on time if you have multiple devices.

Some people have a virtual license, while others have a license that needs to be upgraded. Depending upon the location, one or more technical persons are required for the solution's maintenance.

Many people use Radware LinkProof, and it is available for small, medium, and enterprise businesses.

I would not recommend Radware LinkProof to anyone because it only supports load balance, not DoS and WAF. If you have larger offices in different locations, you can use Radware LinkProof inside your offices. However, if you introduce it in a space open to the internet, you will have to use a separate device for DDoS and WAF.

Overall, I rate Radware LinkProof an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Great load-balancing services and multiple backend servers, but it would be great if it had script-sharing features in a community hub
Pros and Cons
  • "The strength of this solution is the application delivery controller."
  • "The community portal does not have a place to find scripts."

What is our primary use case?

The vendor usually overloads the devices with a lot of functionality. The strength of this solution is the application delivery controller. The best functions are load-balancing services and multiple backend servers.

What is most valuable?

The SSL uploading feature is helpful, and every vendor has it. It terminates the full connections and takes care of all the power required for the backend servers to process the SSL load. Radware Alteon also makes our environment and web applications more scalable because the devices are half-sequence and specifically designed to handle web traffic and SSL web traffic.

These devices work as hypervisors on the cluster that we have on-premises. We can run virtual applications and delivery controllers inside them. We can also isolate resources and environments. In addition, Radware Alteon has a helpful scripting engine for automation called AppShape+.

What needs improvement?

I have worked with Big IP F5. It is a veteran solution that is more stable and has more resources. Big IP F5 has a virtual hub in the community with a lot of resources and already-made scripts that can be used for free. Radware Alteon has a community portal, but the community portal does not have a place to find scripts. It would be great if they could be transparent and deploy a community where their users can share the scripts.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for almost 11 years. We have a cluster of two Radware 52808 devices. We are currently using version 32.2.12. Some devices are deployed on-premises, but we have a client running SIWA, a cloud web environment in Radware Alteon, so we deploy both. So it is on public and hardware cloud.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is pretty stable, and we are happy with the solution. We had some problems in the past, but they have been resolved. In the past, we suffered some key performance bags. For example, there was a memory leak that persisted during firmware releases. We had to reboot and failover the devices. Every Wednesday at 6:00 pm, we had failovers of the digital application delivery control from one device to another for about a year. The device had a problem where if you ran it for too long without rebooting, it generated a corrupt memory and crashed. The device stopped accepting new connections, and we couldn't see any issues in the logs. The technical support told us it could be a tricky memory leak back. When we started rebooting the devices periodically each week, we managed to resolve the situation. It took about a year, and multiple upgrades and versions before the vendor fixed the issue.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our organization usually buys load balances and hand-held devices oversized. We have not had any problem with scalability, and none of the devices fall short of our expectations. In addition, the devices are usually more powerful than the license they sell you. If there are problems with scalability, we can upgrade our license to a superior one.

We work with public institutions and have tens of thousands of potential users because we use Radware Alteon in public administration and digital offices. In Spain, the public administration sector is our biggest client.

How are customer service and support?

They have good support, and we have used them for years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have used Big IP F5 for many years.

How was the initial setup?

I rate the initial setup an eight out of ten. It was not straightforward because we needed to set it up. Radware Alteon has a specific syntax requiring navigation of all menus and venues.

Deployment depends on the area and configuration that needs to be applied. With setup experience, deployment of Radware Alteon could be reasonably fast. The initial deployment was done in-house. But now, connecting to a third-party coworker in the data center is easy. We can rack the device in the data center and plug the cables into a laptop that can plug into the Radware Alteon. The user can connect to a smartphone data plan and easily configure the device remotely. We need just two people for maintenance.

What was our ROI?

I believe there is a return on investment. Therefore, the solution is worth buying, and if you don't buy a load balancer, it is difficult because you will need more backend servers.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not have specific details about the costs. There is a licensing fee, and they have an SSL transaction license and others. They have two or three licenses that you pay based on the volume.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution a seven out of ten. Of recent, we tend to lean towards using cloud. This is because the on-premises devices are less common and are losing presence in my company's services. Regarding advice to others, I would recommend they upgrade the device before entering the production stage to reduce the bags.

Simplifies network management and enhances performance and reliability
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Radware LinkProof for traffic distribution is its DNS management capability."
  • "Radware LinkProof's marketing efforts need improvement to raise awareness about its capabilities and compete effectively in the market."

What is our primary use case?

I use Radware LinkProof to optimize our network by balancing multiple WAN links. It ensures uninterrupted access to applications by automatically redirecting traffic from failed or congested links.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Radware LinkProof for traffic distribution is its DNS management capability. Similar to Linux's feature for managing DNS requests, LinkProof can dynamically redirect traffic by responding to DNS queries with the appropriate IP addresses. This ensures seamless access to applications even if the primary server fails, improving overall reliability and customer experience.

What needs improvement?

Radware LinkProof's marketing efforts need improvement to raise awareness about its capabilities and compete effectively in the market.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Radware LinkProof for about three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I find Radware LinkProof to be extremely stable, rarely encountering technical issues or downtime among my clients in Sri Lanka and elsewhere. Its reliability helps minimize network downtime by swiftly redirecting traffic during attacks or overload situations, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and smooth operations.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Radware LinkProof is technically sound and scalable, capable of handling increased loads of traffic by adjusting licensing.

How are customer service and support?

Radware's support is excellent, with knowledgeable sales engineers who go above and beyond to assist. Their technical guides are helpful and their support team is responsive. I would rate the support as a ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

Configuring and managing Radware LinkProof is straightforward and efficient. With its user-friendly interface, configuration can typically be completed within days, depending on the customer's requirements. The process is intuitive, making it easy to set up and manage network settings, including rate management features, to meet specific needs. The initial setup and configuration of can typically be completed within a day, including overall integrations.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I would say Radware LinkProof falls into the mid-range pricing category. It is not cheap, but it is also not overly expensive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Among similar tools, Radware LinkProof stands out as the best on the market for WAN load balancing. While some companies use firewalls or other solutions for load balancing, LinkProof offers a more comprehensive and competitive solution, especially for WAN balancing.

What other advice do I have?

Radware LinkProof improves WAN traffic management by optimizing application traffic across multiple WAN links. It automatically monitors the health of these links and redirects traffic to ensure uninterrupted connectivity, enhancing reliability and performance.

For disaster recovery, I configure Radware LinkProof with its global load-balancing feature. This involves setting up two or three appliances in different locations. They communicate via health checks, and if one data center goes down, traffic is automatically redirected to the available center.

I highly recommend Radware LinkProof, especially for data centers. It is a comprehensive solution that combines load balancing, application load balancing, and more in a single appliance, making it cost-effective and efficient. For enterprise-level customers, it is worth considering.

Overall, I would rate the product as a nine out of ten.

A good load-balancing reverse proxy for internal applications that is easy to setup and has good technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the load-balancing reverse proxy."
  • "We are having a difficult time with the security module, and how to implement the Radware security."

What is our primary use case?

I am a consultant, and I have customers who purchase Alteon Box. I help them with the design and architecture. The primary use case is mainly for load balancing internal applications, for internal-facing customers, as well as external customers on the internet.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the load-balancing and reverse proxy. Global-loadbalancing as well is valuable.

What needs improvement?

For a migration from F5 to Radware, the conversion of certain features is challenging :

1. From F5 ASM policies to Radware Appwall policies, we had to require support from professional services although the F5 ASM policy was basic.

2. Radware does not seem to support TLS extensions in the client_hello therefore migration of F5 scripts that was handing sessions with TLS extensions is a challenge.

3. overall migration of F5 scripts and specific configuration like profiles is a challenge

With the example above a radware conversion tool that would migrate scripts and configuration or from other vendor to Radware would be a real asset. Support of TLS extension would facilitate deployment with that scenario as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Radware Alteon for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I find it to be stable. To date, we have not had any issues with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have not had a chance to work on a scenario where we really carried a lot.

I am working on a project now where there are more applications going through Radware. Just now we are going to see how it works, regarding the scalability. It appears to be scalable but I can't tell you at this time.

Radware Alteon is used by the administrator, the network integrator, the people that are managing, and the internal management team and they seems comfortable with the learning curve an the handling of the solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

My experience with technical support is that they were great. We also had engineers that know the product help to resolve the issue.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Our clients have replaced F5 with Radware Alteon.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

We have a group of four to deploy and maintain this solution.

What about the implementation team?

I design with Radware. I design myself and work with a team to integrate it.

I don't implement it as an integrator.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, Forti ADC

What other advice do I have?

For anyone who is considering using this solution with application security or complex used case. I would suggest that they talk to professional services. I would recommend they work with professional services depending on the project complexity, and if it's migration, for instance, the scripting around the Radware is not something people would be familiar with. Professional services would be able to help with the scripting.

I would rate Radware Alteon a nine out of ten.

An exceptionally stable and scalable solution for load balancing
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
  • "The solution lacks HA configuration."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is used for load balancing.

What is most valuable?

The DGP, routing, L2, and L3 switches are the most valuable features of the Radware LinkProof.

What needs improvement?

The solution lacks HA configuration. In comparison, Alteon has a better HA configuration. Plus, the 30.5 version and 30.0 version of Alteon have some differences in relation to the HA configuration.

The HA configuration feature is important as it enables a failover with a cluster of more than LinkProof.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution since 2017. My company has a partnership with Radware LinkProof.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. Two administrators are using the solution presently.

How are customer service and support?

I contacted their technical support regarding the SysTrack migration. Still, they could not give a proper solution as I could not give them the exact data.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward. The deployment takes around half an hour if you go into all the specifications and functionality. Only two people are needed for the deployment process.

Initially, we configure the solution and test for functionalities like HCR and whether the load balancing is happening correctly. Once that is checked, we move into production and then upload the device for one week. If it is functioning well, then we remove the existing device. We are following the same procedure for all servers, storage, and firewalls, as we have faced issues with power fluctuations before this.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Price-wise, the solution is a reasonable one.

What other advice do I have?

Contact the technical support team and implement the suggested steps in case of migration. Otherwise, if anything goes wrong, the production will get impacted.

I rate the overall solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

It helps our organization to block threats, but the user interface could be better
Pros and Cons
  • "The device blocks threats and allows legitimate users to work correctly."
  • "The user interface can be improved."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for the solution is protection. We have just one web application protected behind this AppWall, and it is automatic with the default configuration. This device periodically downloads new threat signatures from Radware, and most of the time, we let the device AppWall handle the traffic and block the threats that it thinks are ahead.

What is most valuable?

The error detection system is very valuable. When an error is encountered, the WAF blocks an illegitimate user and sends a message. The message contains a transaction ID that can be matched in the locks of the AppWall. So, it's not hard to investigate these events when people write an incident because some illegitimate user is often trying to use this web that is protected behind the WAF and getting errors.

What needs improvement?

The user interface can be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for less than a year, and the version we use is integrated into the Alteon on-premises device.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. However, because we are tending towards the cloud version of these products, if we increase the usage, it would be cloud WAF versions of AppWall.

How was the initial setup?

I was not involved in the initial setup.

What was our ROI?

It's difficult to tell our precise return on investments because we let the AppWall operate by itself and don't look at the AppWall events. So we probably need to look closely at the events and everything. Still, whenever we look up the events, we see that the device blocks a fair amount of attempts to breach security, and we barely see incidents with legitimate users. So I assume it's a good return on investment because the device blocks threats and allows legitimate users to work correctly.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I cannot comment on licensing costs as I am not very knowledgeable about them.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the solution a six out of ten. The solution is good but can be improved by including a better user interface.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have found this to be a stable solution during my time using it.  However, it is reliant on hardware working properly when deployed on-premises.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found this solution to be easily scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I have found the support for this solution to be very good.

What other advice do I have?

For organizations that are considering this product, I would recommend that they look into the cloud-based version of the solution. This is more cost effective, as there is no need to purchase specific hardware, and all of the setup and configuration is carried out before the solution is deployed.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
