A System Administrator at a university says, “Where there is a need to actually expand on the capacity, it's easily done, especially when more memory is needed.”
Felix B., IT systems consultant at GrupoTTA, mentions, “HPE's iLO server management software is a handy tool to install and deploy. OneView is also suitable for management, but you need a license for it. You can use OneView's monitoring features for free, but you need to pay for management capabilities. In the latest generation, Gen10, you have to add a license for iLO. In addition, generation 10 requires an ISO license to use iLO for management. And if you're working with Synergy, there is another new product like SimpliVity. SimpliVity has a helpful product that is based on ProLiant and another type of architecture similar to Apollo.”
An Administrative Assistant at a government comments, "We get good performance with HPE ProLiant DL Servers. They are really stable. We run all our applications smoothly. We have no problem at all."
PeerSpot user Joel M., IT Manager at a construction company, states, “These servers are strong, and they have very few failures on them. They are also easy to manage and monitor.”
#2 Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers
Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers was ranked as the #2 Rack Servers Tool for 2022. PeerSpot users give Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers an average rating of 8 out of 10.

They have a very good support timeline that lasts not just a year or two, but even five years down the line. It's a long-term arrangement. The solution is highly scalable, with a two-socket server, CPU support, and the M.E.N SST. It can support VDI.”
A Field Solution Architect at a financial services firm says, “The solution is very scalable, delivers on promises, and offers good terms. It fit the requirements of the client, that's really all that it was for us. It could deliver the IOPS and the local storage that was required. It could have been anybody else, Lenovo, IBM, HP, etc. We were Dell's number one reseller in Canada and probably worldwide. We got very favorable terms and that also helped with the decision.”
A Project Manager at a tech services company comments, “The solution has proven to be very stable over the years. It's quite reliable in terms of performance. The product has always been very easy to use. The maintenance of the product is easy to do. It doesn't need too much. The local service on offer from Dell is quite good. They are very helpful. The initial setup is pretty straightforward.”
#3 IBM Power Systems
IBM Power Systems was ranked as the #3 Rack Servers Tool for 2022. PeerSpot users give IBM Power Systems an average rating of 8 out of 10.
PeerSpot user Shan A., a freelance System Analyst, "The availability of a solution depends on the requirement of the customer. The most valuable feature is the virtualization. You can have this one system or you can use it for many. They were using almost 120 servers within that specific service. You can use the same systems in the telecommunication industry as a middleware. Now, the whole scenario and the whole application are different. IBM Middleware is an application that is supported by IBM. They support these applications on their own platform.”
Fahim A., Server Support Specialist at a tech services company, mentions, "Active Memory Expansion allows you to compress your memory on the run time to allow you to have less physical memory available, but provision more memory to your partitions, as everything will be compressed on the fly."
A System Administrator at a energy/utilities company comments, "What we like the most is the ability to upgrade the scaling of the system itself. Whenever we need extra storage, we can do that. Whenever we need extra memory, we can do that as well. It's fast and it's available."
#4 Lenovo ThinkSystem Rack Servers

Oleksandr M., System Administrator at a manufacturing company, says, “HP and Dell servers have multi-house technology that is really easy to use. We don't experience any problems with logging or gathering hardware information. The rest of the technical and software stuff is absolutely the same no matter the manufacturer. So, from a technical perspective, it is the same. The general purpose of this hardware is the same, the functionality is the same, it just goes by a different name. As I mentioned, the stability of the server itself is a benefit for me; it's more reliable now.”
Farrokh F., CEO at a tech vendor, states, "The IMM tool is great because we can upgrade different views and device versions very quickly. We can upgrade everything from a single point through a single dashboard, which is great for us because we also have Lenovo storage. Lenovo ThinkSystem also has Xclarity built into the system."
Markus W., Lecturer at HSLU, mentions, “We appreciate the stability of all the machines. The easy mountings are convenient. We have some direct connections to IBM and Lenovo, as well as other companies. They offer us very good manufacturer support. Technical support has been very good and we've been satisfied with the level of service we get. The solution is very simple to install.”
#5 Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers
Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers was ranked as the #5 Rack Servers Tool for 2022. PeerSpot users give Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers an average rating of 8 out of 10.
Freelance Consultant Avinash M. says, “In terms of the features that I have found most valuable, that is the hardware, which is more dynamic. Cisco has the channels for the people to buy it. It has the red configurations, you can have more RAM and their CPUs have more code, depending on what kind of server you have, because there are three or four variations. So those options are available. Most of the customers we deal with have a smaller setting, like a voice solution. So they want the Cisco Call Manager. They go for the C 220 version, where they can employ two or three servers and two or three virtual machines, not the physical server. And they can get their voice setup working. If the customer is looking for more servers and more options, they go for more hardware, and a higher version of that server, such as 220, 240, and the like.”
A Pure Storage expert at a tech services company mentions, “The solution’s performance is good, as well as manageability. The interface is good.”
