PeerSpot’s crowdsourced user review platform helps technology decision-makers around the world to better connect with peers and other independent experts who provide advice without vendor bias.
Our users have ranked these solutions according to their valuable features, and have also discussed where they see room for improvement.
You can read user reviews for Virtualization Management Tools to help you decide which solution is best for you.
#1 VMware vRealize Operations (vROps)
The number one ranked Virtualization Management Tool based on PeerSpot user reviews is VMware vRealize Operations (vRops).
Valued Feature: Reporting
PeerSpot user Hari N., SAP Security Consultant at Tata Consultancy Services, tells us,
“Alerts and monitoring were most valuable. It was also pretty user-friendly and interactive. I was able to generate good reports in PDF and HTML formats, which was really helpful.
Ammar R., Principal Consultant at a tech services company, relates, “I have found the reporting tool, capacity planning, and reports for performance monitoring the most valuable features.”
Suggested Improvement: Better integrations
Saddam Z., Sr. System Engineer at a tech services company, feels, “The solution could improve by having more APIs, customized alerts, and documentation. In the next release, there should be better integration with microservices.”
#2 Turbonomic
The PeerSpot Number two ranked Virtualization Management Tool is Turbonomic.
Valued Feature: Money Savings
Sam B., Senior Cloud Engineer at O.C. Tanner Co., tells us, “Cost savings is a significant benefit, especially with our AWS computing. It cuts down on human error. For example, sometimes someone will spin up some resources in AWS and then forget about it. We can go into Turbonomic's reporting and see that a virtual machine is idle, so you might want to scale it down. If it's not being used, you should delete it. Then you can save X amount of money. Turbonomic will automatically apply those things for you and tell you how much you're going to save. It's integrated with your AWS billing report and everything; it can give you real data. You click a button, and it'll apply all the functions for you, so you save a bunch of money. I would say that that's a huge part of it for us.”
Ryan M., Team Lead, Systems Engineering at a healthcare company, confirms the money savings aspects using Turbonomic: “With Turbonomic, we were able to reduce our ESX cluster size and save money on our maintenance and license renewals. It saved us around $75,000 per year but it's a one-time reduction in VMware licensing. We don't renew the support. The ongoing savings is probably $50,000 to $75,000 a year, but there was a one-time of $200,000 plus.” He adds that “It also saved human resource time and the cost involved in monitoring and optimizing our state by 25%.”
Suggested Improvement: Easier Deployment
Sam B. feels that "The deployment process is a little tricky. It wasn't hard for me because I have pretty in-depth knowledge of Kubernetes, and their software runs on Kubernetes. To deploy it or upgrade it, you have to be able to follow steps and use the Kubernetes command line, or you'll need someone to come in and do it for you."
Next up is Nutanix Prism Pro, PeerSpot user-rated number three solution for Virtualization Management Tools.
Valued Feature: Great User Interface
Subramanya A., Manager at a tech services company, shares, "The most valuable features of Nutanix Prism Pro are the user interface is quite easy to understand and it provides easy management for administrators."
Johan R., Analista Senior de Servidores at vocem teleservicios, agrees. "It is interesting to me how Nutanix manages hyperconvergence, the possible failures that can occur in the platform migrating machine machines to nodes without problems while solving the failed node, but without a doubt prism is the feature that I value the most since I can manage and monitor everything in a single tool, giving me simplicity, statistics, states of equipment resources, alerts, updates in a single click, migrate equipment nodes manually or automatically."
Suggested Improvement: Language Options
Johan R. continues, saying, "I think one of the points to improve is having the platform with multiple languages, for example, Spanish, seriously, one point to consider is a valid point for me, my native language is Spanish, being in Venezuela."
The next on our list is the number four ranked solution Nutanix Prism.
Valued Feature: Fast Performance
A PeerSpot user who is a Senior System Engineer at a tech services company relates, "For me, the speed of cloning virtual machines and the hyper-convergence feature are the most valuable aspects of the solution."
Another real user who is a Project Engineer at a computer software company tells us, "Nutanix Prism is very simple to use compared to other products. I have tried a number of tools, including VMware ESXi. Nutanix Prism is much simpler to use and we feel data transfers in it are very fast."
Suggested Improvement: Solution is Expensive
SALVATORE L., Solutions Architect at ITD, feels "The cost is a negative aspect."
#5 Veeam One
Rounding out the top five is Veeam One.
Valued Feature: Easy to Use.
Glauk H., CTO at VIRTUO NTSH, shares, "The product is very straightforward and very easy to use from the client-side."
Jose R., Solution Architect at a tech company, adds, “I have found the most valuable feature to be the configuration and ease of use”.
Suggested Improvement: Better Integration
Lobna A., Backup & Recovery Section Head at a retailer, feels “Veeam's biggest limitation is the lack of integration. I can't use the tool because there is no integration between the tool and the environment. Honestly, we can't use it with the rest of the environment— the hardware and software and so on. It's a huge problem. We are just using it for backup monitoring. “
