Stable, easy to deploy, easy to learn, and good service
Pros and Cons
  • "It is easy to deploy, and it is not that complicated. There are a lot of systems that are very complicated, and they require a special kind of training. Their response is also very slow, especially with the Chinese vendors, but with Cambium, we have not faced any issues. Everything is going well in terms of cooperation from Cambium. We are happy with them, their services, their cooperation, and their quick response. They are just amazing."
  • "If they could move from the fixed wireless point to mobile, it will make a big change in the market. The cnPilot coverage should be covering big spaces. It should also have an external antenna, not a built-in antenna."

How are customer service and support?

We open a ticket, and they respond to us quickly. Somebody calls us within a day.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to work in mobile spaces with NEC, Ericsson, and Nokia. This is the first time we are working with Cambium for Wi-Fi.

How was the initial setup?

It is easy to install, and we have all the required material from Cambium. If there is anything that we share with them, they are able to deliver on the spot and tell us how to do and what to do.

We are generally able to finish deployments in one or two days. The deployment duration can vary, but that is not because of Cambium. It usually is because the wiring and the power are not ready at a customer's site.

What about the implementation team?

We have our own team to handles this. We have four people at the moment for Cambium networks. We have a CTO and four trained engineers.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Its price is in the middle range.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution. I am very pleased with Cambium. It is competing in the market, and it has a good future. Cambium is growing up quickly. In the upcoming years, I can see it as a huge technology. With cnWave and the 5 gigahertz, they will take a very big share of the market worldwide. They are doing something amazing with cnMaestro.

I would rate Cambium a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

We rate our experience with customer service and support as ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and takes between 15 to 30 minutes. However, if it's in a warehouse, it is very hard to deploy, and we have to wait for some vehicles that can bring a person or the height.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented the solution in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

A license is required for its warranty and extension, and its price is good.

Our primary use case is for nursing homes, retail centers, those kinds of places. How was the initial setup?

Initial setup is very simple. It takes about five minutes per access point.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend to anyone to go ahead and use it. It's well worth the extra money to implement it. You're not going to have many problems thereafter. It's just going to work for you.

A stable, scalable, and easy-to-deploy solution that lets you set up the access points in advance and has the useful mesh feature
Pros and Cons
  • "The feature that I really liked is the mesh feature. Currently, we are in quarantine, and the request of home users is that they need to cover the whole house or the whole indoor house. Mesh solution works really nice in Cambium environment. Being able to set up access points in advance is a good feature. It lets you set up the whole environment in your lab or any other place before deploying the access points."
  • "It has voucher generation. These vouchers are provided to the customers. It would be great if there is a possibility to integrate these vouchers with the system that vendors use to print the receipts. For example, if you go to Starbucks, they provide you a receipt, and in that receipt, you have the code for the Wi-Fi network. I would like some kind of integration or API that can be integrated into any other system for generating such receipts. It would be a really nice feature. It has the cnMaestro portal that normally an integrator sets up. When you deploy this solution to a user, rather than generating a Cambium account, I would like to share this console with the users so that they can at least see the stability of the network and not necessarily trust what I said. It also allows the customers in visualizing the way that they are connecting and the way the network is behaving. I have been in touch with the Cambium team for these features, but they don't yet have the final answer. It is kind of hard to get these solutions immediately. It is a bit challenging to bring these devices to Lima, Peru, or to get Cambium from the distributors. They need to import these devices."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution in many scenarios. We use it for small businesses, home networks mesh, and schools. Cambium has got Xirrus as an enterprise branch. We use Xirrus, and we also use Cambium with small solutions.

It is a cloud deployment. It is deployed in the Cambium cloud. We are using cnMaestro as a cloud portal. In the case of Xirrus, we are using the XMS-Cloud solution that they have. We are not using any on-premise solution.

What is most valuable?

The feature that I really liked is the mesh feature. Currently, we are in quarantine, and the request of home users is that they need to cover the whole house or the whole indoor house. Mesh solution works really nice in Cambium environment.

Being able to set up access points in advance is a good feature. It lets you set up the whole environment in your lab or any other place before deploying the access points.

What needs improvement?

It has voucher generation.

They need to import these devices.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for about two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Its stability is good. I haven't received any complaints. Sometimes, when you deploy a network, you need to reset the access points once in a while because they get saturated or the memory is full, but I haven't received any complaint about this with Cambium devices. I have been working during this quarantine with both Ubiquiti and Cambium, and Cambium responds much better.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Its scalability is good. You can start with a small network and then you can grow it as you need. They also offer a paid version of cnMaestro. I am not clear about what you gain when you go for paid cnMaestro.

The number of users varies based on the client. We have solutions for small businesses, home users, and schools. In schools, there are 25 users per classroom, and all of them are connected without any problem.

How was the initial setup?

It is generally easy, but sometimes, it can be challenging in terms of time, but you just need to wait. It takes a while for the access point to take the configuration, specifically because it is communicating with the cloud. It has to receive the configuration file, and it takes a while to receive the configuration file. You just need to be patient.

The cool thing that I like is that you can set up the whole environment in your lab or any other place, and then you can deploy those access points for the customers. For the final configuration, you can just call them in and finalize the setup. Being able to set up those access points in advance is a good feature.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others to look for the right integrator. A good integrator needs to know the product and specifications. It is not necessarily about selling. It is also about knowing different features so that you can get maximum advantage of the product. Most of the people are using Wi-Fi, but in terms of using two frequencies, 2.4 and 5 gigahertz, an assessment would be much better. I don't know if Cambium supports any kind of assessment. I know that they have some tools, but the integrators should make these assessments before implementing any Wi-Fi solution.

I would rate Cambium an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud
