Stable but bad technical support, and an out of date database

Customization capabilities allow clients to autonomously deploy policies
There are a few areas where Trellix Endpoint Security ( /categories/endpoint-protection-platform-epp ) can improve. Firstly, the high CPU utilization when agents are installed can negatively impact client systems. Another issue is with end-users outside the network, where the agent handler sometimes fails to deploy the product properly. Improvements are needed in forensic analytics to detect specific vulnerabilities. It would also help if detection specifics were identified more quickly and the problem-solving process accelerated, especially to meet larger clients' expectations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like the simplicity of this solution and the fact that it saves us time. The deployment was really straightforward and useful and I am impressed by the anti-virus endpoint detection and response offered by this solution."
"The endpoint protection is the solution's most valuable feature."
"The solution has exchange protection. It has a content control, device control, a firewall, and anti-malware as well. They are all quite valuable features for us."
"Anyone can use it, the protection is good, and they have all of the features."
"It is a stable solution...The solution's technical support is good."
"This is a good solution for antivirus and malware protection."
"The solution is a reliable and mature product. Its reporting function is robust, and the user interface is easy to use. End users can create customized reports with detailed reporting for any computer and export them in PDF or other formats. This reporting capability is very robust."
"We can manage everything from the central console and it is very easy."
"The technical support services are good."
"MVISION offers decent protection."
"The features we have found most valuable have been containment as well as the ability to triage agent activities."

Cons

"There needs to be better integration with the environment. Especially, for the active directory and also for keeping up with the changes from Microsoft. We use a lot of Microsoft OS. I have noted that sometimes they lag behind Microsoft updates. For example, when with Windows 10. I had some issues with deploying to Windows 10 because the solution was behind in updating their own services to match the Microsoft release."
"There are blurred lines between anti-virus and endpoint detection so I would say it can be confusing when you are considering buying this program. I would like to see that being explained better to the customer."
"The database needs improvement. It needs to be updated quite a bit."
"The complexity of advanced modules can be improved."
"It can be quite complicated to learn McAfee Endpoint Security and to feel comfortable with the environment."
"The solution can be expensive."
"On the next release, they should build an easier way to see a repair option within the McAfee icon on your system tray. If there was an issue, you should be able to contact the user or just right-click on "repair". That would be a very good feature to add. That could be a place of improvement, just adding that button, or customizing it."
"The solution could provide open XDR in addition to EDR."
"The product could do more to keep administration alerted to detected threats on endpoints."
"The technical support needs some improvement. When product distribution errors occur, we have to contact technical support, which is a very tedious task."
"They can make it free, but that's not going to happen."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There's a yearly cost for licensing. For us, that comes to $1,400. There are no additional costs beyond the license itself."
"It is a yearly subscription-based product, which includes the license and hardware. There is also a subscription for technical support up to five years."
"The pricing is mid-ranged and quite reasonable compared to other similar products."
"Trellix may cost around $46 to $47 for a single license without an EDR."
"McAfee's prices are flexible and can be quite competitive, although there are other solutions that are even more so."
"The current pricing is much better than before because they now offer product-related promotions along with some changes in product licensing. The new pricing model is better than before."
"It provides good value by striking a balance between cost-effectiveness and feature richness."
"I think Trellix is more on the higher side of the market, just on a general scale, but I also think it depends on what particular package you choose."
"It was an annual fee. There was just one overall fee."
