Storage Virtualization is the most mature in the market, but other brands have more features
An update to its technology would be good. The G Series has been around for more than five years and HDS seriously needs to ramp up, since the competition has better performance at a lower cost with better features and functionalities. For example, it needs redirect on write Snapshot, preconfigured storage tiering with better IOPS, built-in deduplication technology on hybrid disk, etc.

Effortless upgrades with one-click feature while new server deployment needs a smoother process
I have a data center, and all the servers are connected to HPE Alletra dHCI. I use it for data management with VMware running on the servers The most valuable feature of HPE Alletra dHCI is the one-click upgrade function, which allows all drivers and services to be downloaded to all servers…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This solution allowed us to move from using standalone systems to having all our data center management in one place."
"In our implementations, HDS Storage Virtualization has helped in migrating data with the least amount of downtime, compared to other storage technologies."
"The replication technology can move data faster than EMC MirrorView and requires less bandwidth. The Storage Virtualization technology is the most mature in the market, outside of IBM’s Storwize (which has a lot of compatibility issues, and EMC’s very expensive VPLEX solution); and it works."
"The nice thing about it is that it truly integrates with the cloud, so I can move my volumes bi-directionally in and out of the cloud."
"The solution is easy to use."
"So far, the solution's performance is very good."
"HPE Nimble Storage dHCI's user interface is very easy to work with."
"The product has cut down a lot of service tickets. Earlier, people complained about slowness."
"It is easier to manage compared to the other vendors."
"We have this feature in Nimble dHCI, wherein we can upgrade individual components in the infrastructure."
"Nimble Storage is a capable platform with high availability."

Cons

"An area for improvement would be technical support. In the next release, I would like to see more features added to make this a more complete solution."
"HDS reaches a ceiling depending on model. The G200 cannot transition to G400, the G400 can transition to G600 but cannot transition to G800, which is the top-end model."
"An update to its technology would be good. The G Series has been around for more than five years and HDS seriously needs to ramp up, since the competition has better performance at a lower cost with better features and functionalities. For example, it needs redirect on write Snapshot, preconfigured storage tiering with better IOPS, built-in deduplication technology on hybrid disk, etc."
"Nimble Storage's integration with the management software could be better."
"Cost-wise, this solution is slightly more expensive than other hyperconverged solutions."
"The deployment of a new server could be improved."
"I can tier my data in different storage on the cloud, but I cannot tier the data with HPE Alletra dHCI."
"This year 2022, we have the possibility to include new kinds of storage with a high disk availability, such as Alletra 6000 and Alletra 9000. Those are the new storage available. If we would like to improve the quality and the capability and the high availability of these products, we can choose between different costs. This is another benefit from this HPE Nimble Storage dHCI solution of hyper-converged."
"The performance of HPE Nimble Storage dHCI could improve. Other solutions, such as Cisco, are better."
"Software upgrade is still more complicated than the competitors, so that's an area of improvement."
"The initial setup is a little bit complicated."
