Doesn’t identify threats and vulnerabilities, and the reports are quite useless
The solution is used for penetration testing Penetration testing and scans are useful features. These features are the reason why we started using the product. We run the penetration testing and look at the reports. The reports are quite useless. We are looking for a different product. The tool…

Brilliant audit report and scorecard but scans often get blocked by firewalls
Our company uses the Nexpose automation tools for validity, deactivation, assessment, and penetration testing. We can easily see if something has been exposed and manually focus on or follow main vulnerabilities.  We have 28 users and a JV license key for using the solution in our offline systems…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Penetration testing and scans are useful features."
"It's easy to use. It's fast, it's a powerful easy to access tool."
"I like Rapid7's scan optimization options."
"The most valuable feature is the site scanning, where we can provide a complete subnet and what it is we need to scan on those devices."
"The most valuable feature for me is the risk calculation based on monthly effects."
"You can bring in and get online to do reports fairly quickly,"
"The remediation project is a pretty effective because it allows us, as clients or countries, to choose specific assets and set limitations on them for a certain period which allows us to track and follow up on those limitations. However, when it comes to real-time monitoring and live dashboards, InsightVM doesn't quite fit the bill. It's not a real-time solution and is not instant."
"The performance is good."
"The most valuable features of Rapid7 InsightVM are the accurate level of scanning and the workflows are good."

Cons

"The reports are quite useless."
"I would say that it improved our visibility, but it left things open."
"Rapid7 InsightVM could be easier to use for those who are using it for the first time."
"There was functionality present previously, however, currently, we can't integrate directly with Jira Service Desk - only the cloud version."
"There are certain limitations because of the product being used on a hybrid model. Rapid7 InsightVM doesn't offer a solution purely in the cloud."
"We have some issues with how it scans patches."
"We'd like the agent to cover more compliance issues."
"This solution creates false-positives which can cause issues with reporting."
"Rapid7 could be easier to manage."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In some cases, we procure the licenses. In some cases, the customers directly buy the license from Rapid7."
"A full license for the solution is expensive because it is at the organizational level and not by individual users."
"InsightVM is an expensive product, especially compared to its competitors, at around a million NOK per year."
"This solution is expensive, but it's fine for us as we have an open budget for security solutions. Protection and having the system secured is more important."
"Comparing the price with the value that we receive, I am not happy with it."
"The price of the solution is less than the competitors."
"We have an annual license to use Rapid7 InsightVM and if we want to extend it, we will possibly choose more than one year."
"The license is IP based. How many IPs you are using to scan is the amount of the license you have to buy. The number of users doesn't matter; many users can use it or only person. It depends on the culture of the organization."
