Is user-friendly, automatically provides requested IP addresses to devices, and is reliable
Initially, we paid for professional implementation assistance when deploying Micetro, but we soon discovered it to be user-friendly. We were able to implement it ourselves without needing professional services. The interface is intuitive for those with some understanding of the system, and overall, Micetro has been a great product for us. If you were a Windows DNS administrator, and you were to switch to Micetro, there would be almost no learning curve. Integrating Micetro was simple. We had it running in one day. Before Micetro, requesting an IP address for a new device involved a manual process with multiple emails and required IT intervention. Now, it's entirely automated, freeing up our team's time and significantly speeding up the build process. Micetro has greatly simplified IP address management for us. We only use the two modules we subscribe to but all the server management is under one GUI. Micetro has improved our DDI operations by unifying server management. Our previous system suffered from unreliable automated scans and outdated DNS entries. Since switching, we haven't encountered a single issue, and Micetro's streamlined approach has significantly sped up deployments of hardware, software, and anything requiring an IP address. Switching to Micetro from our old, cumbersome system brought immediate benefits. Previously, a simple task like checking and reserving an IP address required navigating multiple screens and manual verification. Micetro streamlines everything into a single interface with intuitive right-click actions for availability checks, reservations, and DHCP assignments. Micetro's non-disruptive installation is a major benefit. Disruptive installs require after-hours work during maintenance windows, which strains our technicians by taking time away from their personal lives and forcing them to work outside of regular business hours. Ideally, all installations should be non-disruptive like Micetro. Micetro required minimal work on our endpoint devices; the change happened at the network level on our existing DNS server. After a simple authorization process, we were up and running, making it a very straightforward implementation.

A stable and scalable tool meant for IP address management
I am unsure if SolarWinds IPAM is good for network management. I know that the tool can manage IP addresses. From any improvement perspective, SolarWinds IPAM should consider working on the area where the tool lacks, which is its network management capabilities. SolarWinds IPAM offers the functionalities it has promised to my company. There is nothing much that one can expect from a tool meant to manage IP addresses.

"The maturity of the OS helps with the stability."
"I like the option to keep all of the available and used IPAM addresses in the central organization."
"Its setup is simple. Its interface is simple. It's very easy to manage."
"I am impressed with the product's reports."
"Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"SolarWinds IPAM is a simple and user-friendly tool."
"The most valuable feature of SolarWinds IPAM is its automated IP address management. Instead of working with Excel sheets, it's automated and saves a lot of time and effort. Additionally, it is adaptable, IT managers enjoy it, and it is high quality."
"The product is user-friendly and valuable."
"I would recommend this solution for all companies that have to deal with a lot of networks."

Cons

"One area for improvement in RHEL is compatibility with some third-party tools, like those offered by Intel."
"We initially purchased professional services from Micetro, but they didn't reach out to us until after we had already set up and been using the application for several weeks."
"The product needs to improve its support. The response time is long and not very helpful."
"My understanding is that IPAM cannot be used for the AWS environment. I might be wrong, but that's what I believe it cannot do. On AWS, SolarWinds IPAM cannot do what it does on the on-prem side. They should explore how to make IPAM capable and scalable on AWS and Azure environments."
"From any improvement perspective, SolarWinds IPAM should consider working on the area where the tool lacks, which is its network management capabilities."
"Some processes are a little bit bumpy. The solution needs a design refresh."
"They should provide more details on the full stack feature. It needs to be integrated with the hypervisor."
"Sometimes we have to wait for screens to load, so faster operations would be better."
"I would like more updates."
"SolarWinds IPAM offers premium support, but the customer has to pay more money, and then they will have minimal response times."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Micetro's renewal price was in line with expectations, increasing slightly from last year but not significantly more than the typical year-over-year price increases we see across the market."
"While purchasing a small number of Red Hat Enterprise Linux licenses can be expensive, acquiring licenses for our entire ecosystem or environment often leads to better pricing."
"The product is costly."
"I would rate the product's pricing a six out of ten."
"On a scale of one to five, where one is high and five is good, I would rate this solution as a four."
"It's on the costlier side. It's expensive."
"The price of SolarWinds IPAM is good. After the second year, you have to pay additional for maintenance, because the first year is included with the license maintenance and support. It's from the second year on, you have to pay about 20% of the list price for maintenance and support."
