Users can easily deploy and manage it
The solution's most valuable feature is that it is simple to deploy and manage. I can't say what features of the tool I like since it is very much a deploy-and-forget product. We don't use any advanced features of the tool in my company. The tool's recovery options are good, especially since it integrates with Active Directory, making everything a simple process. The product's integration capabilities are good.

How We Chose SED + WinMagic's SecureDoc For Full Disk Encryption
What if your organization’s leadership directed you to deploy an enterprise encryption solution in 120 days?  Could you do it? I received that message in May 2011 and our basic business goals were full disk encryption (FDE), low laptop performance impact, and low administrative overhead (easy to…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The tool is stable."
"There's a lot of manageability within the solution. This is very helpful."
"Microsoft BitLocker is a Microsoft native product that provides good encryption."
"It is an encryption tool and provides security."
"It is easy to use and administer."
"The most valuable feature is the TPM (Trusted Platform Module), which makes the PC security stronger because somebody who is not from the team cannot access the PC without the decryption PIN."
"I like the simplicity and ease of use of this solution."
"The solution has a feature that automatically asks the users to upgrade their password once we set up the process."
"The Central Management server."

Cons

"The people at the first level of support refer you to articles that do not pertain to the problem at hand."
"The management of the product could be made a little easier."
"User profiles can be improved so that people can create their own passwords. It has one password per machine, which is a problem. We would prefer each user to have his or her own boot password. Each user can have a username and password or biometrics, such as fingerprints and iris scanner, integrated into the boot process, but I really can't see that coming anytime soon, if ever."
"The customizations could be more flexible."
"Technical support has not been very good."
"They could improve cloud integration regarding attribute and encryption key management."
"If the encryption was faster then it would make the experience more pleasant."
"The product must improve the centralization of keys."
"MacOS X is missing features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It operates on a subscription model on an annual basis."
"We didn't pay for additional licenses since the solution is built into Windows."
"The tool is cheap compared to the products offered by competitors. If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the tool's price as one."
"I think it's reasonably priced because I've never heard any complaints from my company about its costs."
"The product's cost is included in Windows."
"Microsoft BitLocker's pricing is included in the Microsoft license, and you don't have to pay an additional fee for it."
"It's not about pricing, because we are working with Enterprise companies that already have Windows Enterprise, so BitLocker comes already included as a Windows feature. It's free for Enterprise users. The price is only for deployment. The customer will pay for McAfee, however."
"The solution is priced low. I would rate the product's pricing one out of ten."
"Licensing and pricing is on par with the market."
