Offers integration with many technologies for your applications but the suite should be simplified
We use Oracle SOA for teaching processes only. We have about forty users on the platform at a time I like the amount of technology that is involved in the Oracle SOA Suite. You can use a lot of technologies. The Oracle SOA Suite could be simplified. Currently, it is pretty difficult. We have…

A highly scalable solution capable of being used in enterprise-sized businesses
In the start, SAP NetWeaver was very difficult for me, but now I feel it is very easy using the solution. On a scale where one is a difficult setup, and ten is an easy setup, I rate the setup a ten. I have done deployments, taking around a year. Regarding deployment, there were some configuration issues that I have told my business consultant about since when I'm working, I face certain issues. There are many things related to Java and a few other things. So, some Java libraries are missing, and other crucial things are missing. I faced many issues when we were deploying the solution. The first time, I didn't know about the deployment. So, it felt very complicated since it was not working properly. I think these issues belong to business consultants. Also, configurations and solution-related issues fall upon the business consultant. But when we are working as a developer on it, then we face many issues, and we raise the ticket to SAP or a consultant to resolve it. Some Java directories are missing, and some SAP Connectors are missing. Also, some of the connectivity is not proper. Most of the time, components and channels are not available for us.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I like the amount of technology that is involved in the Oracle SOA Suite."
"It automated the way we did system integrations. Now, information is available on different systems to the correct people."
"There are adapters which make it easier to build integrations between different technologies."
"The presentation is the most valuable feature. It's very conceptual. We had to follow the instructions very strictly. It's a Dutch or German product and we had to follow it step-by-step."
"The solution is scalable."
"What's most valuable in SAP NetWeaver is the integration. That's been very helpful because the company has one thousand five hundred interfaces running, so integration has been the most significant factor. I've also seen many improvements in the SAP NetWeaver user experience, where users can have reports delivered to mobile devices."
"The flexibility and the customizability this solution has when adapting to our business requirements is a huge benefit."
"Finance and distribution are the most important features."
"SAP NetWeaver is doing its job, and it performs well. In the last year, I have not had any problems with it."
"It is the central point for all our data storage. We have one single version of the truth that we can communicate to all our customers."
"The stability is not an issue, and I would rate it at seven out of ten."

Cons

"The Oracle SOA Suite could be simplified."
"The initial setup is complex. Many solutions out-of-the-box did not work as expected. The documentation provided Is particularly poor."
"As PaaS solution in the cloud, it should be easy to maintain this solution."
"The system is very unstable, and any modifications to the server or in the application can make the whole system stop."
"The initial setup is a little complex. The users are not able to install the prerequisite drivers or are not able to follow the SOP because they don't have access to SAP Logon. If users already have access, it will take seven to 10 days to deploy the solution. If they do not, it may take a maximum of 25 to 30 days."
"It can always improve. It should have the ability to connect with other databases. It was a little bit tough to do that. I would like to have the ability to research certain markets and then integrate it with NetWeaver. I'd like to compare it with other databases from other companies being used in the world so we can integrate it with our own products to compare if we are still current on the market."
"SAP NetWeaver should be better integrated with other products outside of SAP."
"The initial setup was not very easy."
"Technical support response time was slow."
"Scalability would be a good improvement in future releases, if they do release future versions. They tried to create a seamless style, but it's not necessarily scalable to big development environments that we're trying to achieve."
"The product documentation can be improved."
"There could be regular updates to make the system more stable and capable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an interesting solution, but only if you get a good price for it. Usually there are better options in the market with better prices."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the pricing a nine to ten since it is an expensive solution."
"SAP NetWeaver requires a license, but I'm not sure how the licenses and payments were coordinated."
"It's a very expensive solution."
"The licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
