I've built integrations for different systems, and some specific integrations might not be built in yet. This might be an issue for large customers but is not a major concern overall. So, the integration part could be a bit extended. Every organization has different systems, but Salt integrates with 90% of them. If a custom integration is needed, they can build it. They're very good at integrations. So, Salt Security can provide a proof of concept with system integration and share results within two weeks, which often leads to customer purchases. At this point, the product covers everything needed. They keep adding new features, and my local customers haven't requested any missing functionality. The product roadmap is good for the market.

Tool identifies vulnerabilities and monitors connectivity effectively
Skybox Security Suite was a very good tool for my organization. I used it for monitoring connectivity between internal and external sites, monitoring our AWS instances, and ensuring workstations and Layer 3 devices met security specifications. The tool successfully helped in preventing vulnerabilities and breaches, but unfortunately, operations ceased before completing a migration to SaaS.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's really great. I would rate the stability a nine out of ten. I haven't encountered any instability issues."
"The most valuable features are Firewall Assurance and Vulnerability Control."
"I think that compliance checks and policy compliance are the product's good features."
"It has a good policy management feature and can provide customers with good quality outputs."
"The most valuable features of Skybox Security Suite are all the modules that are provided, such as vulnerability assessments and network, and firewall assessments."
"The most impressive feature is optimization and clean-up."
"The most valuable features are the rule compliance and the OS vulnerability checks."
"It's given us more visibility in terms of what are the kinds of configurations that are on these devices, and how many of these are stale rules. So it's helped greatly in terms of cleaning up of rules, for sure. And it has definitely given us a more secure way of backing up the configuration on these devices."
"It's very supportive and very user-friendly."

Cons

"The integration part could be a bit extended."
"There is room for improvement in the technical support."
"They are not satisfied with the complexity of the solution and the price."
"There are multiple dashboards but no custom dashboard. It would be good to include a custom dashboard so that we can actually choose which field and what kinds of things we want to look at."
"If anything could be improved it would be staying on top of the collector scripts, but I understand that's a very tough challenge."
"The only place where Skybox has room for improvement, and they're working on releasing this, it's just a slow-go, is the UI. The user interface has historically been via a locally installed thick client. They are moving to a web-based console and it's slowly coming out."
"The vendor's support is terrible."
"The stability is something that is questionable. I don't know whether it is because of the kind of infrastructure we have or because of the product in itself. We're running it on a virtual machine right now. Maybe once a month, or once in every 45 days, it requires a restart because the application fails to connect. So I have to restart the whole Skybox Manager itself, the Skybox server itself, and then connect to it from our Skybox Manager."
"The setup documentation needs a lot of improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Pricing is on the higher side. In terms of licensing, you should buy the complete suite rather than buying only the Change Manager. I think Change Manager with Vulnerability Control is something that would be interesting to look at."
"The pricing has increased exorbitantly in the last few years, so now it is questionable. Now, it makes me want to review other products."
"I've seen the pricing of every solution on the market. When you compare apples to apples, where Skybox becomes exceedingly expensive is if you look at it compared to something like FireMon that only does a fraction of what Skybox does. But if you include everything that Skybox does, it becomes way more expensive than the competition, but you're also not comparing apples to apples. If you look at FireMon, and you look at like just the firewall assurance piece, they are fairly comparable and, actually, Skybox comes in a little bit cheaper in some cases, depending on which product you're looking at."
"The product's pricing is excellent value. In terms of licensing, make sure you understand your network components, all your hops through your network, thoroughly, before you decide on the total cost. If you want to do point-to-point flow analysis and such, you need to have the configuration of all the devices in between point A and point B. A lot of people don't realize all their network components until they start using this product."
"The price is not expensive."
"With licensing, the number of network nodes becomes very expensive to the point where you have to rationalize if the tools are warranted anymore."
"Currently, the licensing costs me about $300 USD for the year. This is a huge amount for my environment."
"Skybox comes with extra licenses and has a change management license. The licenses are expensive, but they come with extra value."
