Enables us to cost-effectively implement numerous small automation projects
Pros and Cons
  • "We are using the solution's selector technology for UI automation. That is the most important feature for us. For example, one of the applications in our company is being updated day by day, by the development team. We use selector to make it dynamic."
  • "An area which the UiPath team is rapidly working on is machine learning and artificial intelligence. At the moment, it is a little difficult to understand. If they could add some more training on it in their Academy, it would help customers to learn about these features."

What is our primary use case?

One of the use cases that I have recently completed is related to SAP and the interaction with Excel and our internal application. We are going with the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP application and we used UiPath to help in this area, and were able to do so within a few days.

Some of our people are going for process automation and some are doing desktop automation.

How has it helped my organization?

It helps our developers learn and implement things faster.

Also, the UI Targets feature has helped us with some difficult situations. We were using other solutions for these situations but our company has moved away from them to using UiPath, and it's working very well.

UiPath provides lots of integration to our ERP application and lots of new updates are coming out day by day. It helps us to automate our tasks.

What is most valuable?

We are using the solution's selector technology for UI automation. That is the most important feature for us. For example, one of the applications in our company is being updated day by day, by the development team. We use selector to make it dynamic.

We also use the latest version of the desktop Assistant tool for some queueing activity in UiPath Orchestrator. The tasks in the queue are continually updated and then they are run by robots. Using Assistant, we get a lot of information about our queues, like if something fails, for example. Also if a robot fails we get robot status-type information from the Assistant. The Assistant plays a good role because, if a process is going wrong, we have control. Using the Assistant we can stop that process. It is a most important feature from UiPath.

What needs improvement?

An area which the UiPath team is rapidly working on is machine learning and artificial intelligence. At the moment, it is a little difficult to understand. If they could add some more training on it in their Academy, it would help customers to learn about these features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for the last eight months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We only use the stable versions, regardless of whatever they are releasing, to avoid bugs and errors. In the stable versions, we have never found any issues or any bugs. If there is any issue, we have a team that will contact the UiPath team and we will get quick solutions. But so far, we have never had any problem or issues with a stable version of UiPath.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We use the Assistant to handle all the robots' actions. We are scaling and tracking it. That is very important for us. The scalability features of UiPath are awesome.

In the eight months I have been working with UiPath I have implemented seven or eight projects. Day by day we are increasing our usage of it, and UiPath is also increasing the product's features and adding technologies. That enables us to work on more projects, as it is easy to integrate.

What was our ROI?

We have been able to implement a lot of little projects. That is one of the reasons that it is cost-effective. In addition to the affordable price, it just takes a few days to develop solutions for these projects.

In India, a developer costs about 16,000 rupees per day. Using UiPath, all our projects have been done in 30 days. If we tried to do these little projects in another technology, they would be more costly because they would be more time-consuming.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our company is based on automation. UiPath is the correct solution for this. It is cost-effective and has an affordable price.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

UiPath is not the only technology we are using, but we are migrating to UiPath because it is cost-effective. The previous solution was Blue Prism, but for the little projects, it was not the right solution.

In addition, the Control Room is really required for other technologies, like Blue Prism, but there is no need for it with UiPath, because we manage and deploy it with our team only. We don't need to worry about the Control Room.

What other advice do I have?

For the beginner the UiPath Academy has a lot of training available. It's important to go through the training. After the training you can easily work on any project in UiPath. So first of all, follow the training. For intermediate-level users, UiPath is the correct solution. These users just need to keep up to date, day by day, because the UiPath team is rapidly updating the features.

The Picture in Picture functionality for attended automations is a new feature. Up until now we have not used PiP, but we have some use cases for an internal project we are doing and are looking into it for the future.

We are using UiPath Automation Cloud, but we have not yet migrated our on-premises UiPath instance to it. We are thinking about the on-premise because it fully depends on our own enterprise. If we go to the cloud, we will be able to collaborate better with our team and what others, because it is "public."

Reduces time in manual invoice processing, and the screen recorder speeds the design process
Pros and Cons
  • "Computer Vision using Microsoft and Tesseract are pretty useful."
  • "They should add chatbots functionality for Microsoft Teams and not only for Slack."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is the Automation of invoice processing.

We're looking to automate some processes like invoicing in order to make the organization more efficient and reduce workload for the employees. Invoices are non-structured or semi-structured data, so we're going to use OCR to extract the data and then automate the invoice process.

How has it helped my organization?

We have automated some processes and have reduced the time that users take while doing those tasks. For example, we use to manually fill in certain forms with the chargebacks, and now we use Clockify Time Tracker with automation that fills in the forms and uploads them to SharePoint.

What is most valuable?

The Screen Recorder has a lot of different features like web and desktop. Native and Citrix Recording are pretty useful for speeding up the design process.

Computer Vision using Microsoft and Tesseract are pretty useful.

The new release of Studio X is a game-changer because this new app focuses on Business users. It is going to be useful for the organization because they can start creating their own automations.

What needs improvement?

They should add chatbots functionality for Microsoft Teams and not only for Slack.

They could give more information about beta / pre-releases so more people can test them and give their feedback.

Keep updating the documentation because sometimes you get redirected to a non-existent page or an old version of the activity.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using UiPath for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is pretty stable and if you have any issues with a new version you can rollback.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another solution prior to this one.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. There's a lot of documentation also you have the forum if you are facing any issue.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My advice is to ask about how the licensing works and how to get access to the other services that UiPath provides.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing UiPath, we evaluated Datamatics, AntWorks, and Blue Prism.

What other advice do I have?

I would suggest downloading the Community Edition and testing UiPath yourself. Join the automation first industry.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Studio is very easy to learn, and Orchestrator makes it easy to manage the platform
Pros and Cons
  • "It is really easy for people to learn the basics and the learning curve is not steep."
  • "Orchestrator needs to have better integration to include business users."

What is our primary use case?

We use all of the products in the UiPath platform.

We have use cases ranging from back-office to manufacturing, which include large project management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury management. Most of the areas in the company have processes that we have automated.

We run our automations in the Citrix virtual environment, although we are unhappy with Citrix. It is pretty bad, and it's very difficult to keep up the performance. AVS or Azure do not offer a good service yet, but we are looking for alternatives with respect to the virtual environment.

With respect to how easy it is to automate our company's processes, on a scale of one to five, I would rate this solution a four. We have been using UiPath for quite a long time, and we have seen this evolving. It has been getting better over the last few years.

On a scale of one to five, judging how beneficial it is, I would rate the training between three and four. The training is good, but the content doesn't have the depth required for people to go ahead and do something if they're not technical. It's still pretty high-level.

From the point that we purchased our UiPath license until we had our first robot was three to four weeks. The process is getting better, but when we started in 2016 and UiPath was small, it was good but needed refinement. I would have rated it three out of five back then.

How has it helped my organization?

Using this solution is enabling us to move the drive for digital transformation to the core. We can now take automation to a level it has never been to.

In terms of eliminating human errors, we have seen benefits. With humans performing, the accuracy was at approximately ninety percent. Our accuracy with automation is now close to one hundred percent.

With respect to saving time, we have seen FTE savings but the numbers are confidential.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Studio is the ease of use. It is really easy for people to learn the basics and the learning curve is not steep.

Orchestrator makes it very easy to manage the platform.

What needs improvement?

Orchestrator needs to have better integration to include business users.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution since 2016.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

With respect to the stability, on a scale from one to five, I would rate this solution between four and five. Stability has been getting better. For example, Studio used to have a lot of bugs when you were developing and when you were capturing the screens. Now it's been getting better, but there is still room to improve.

Orchestrator used to lag quite a bit when there were a high number of transactions, and there is still room to improve.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have at least a few hundred people involved in our automation program.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support for this solution is pretty good. Whenever we had trouble they were always there.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another RPA prior to this one. We were looking at improving the efficiency of processes and bringing some innovative solutions to automating tasks and processes. This is when we decided to try RPA.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented this solution on our own.

What was our ROI?

We have seen ROI but I cannot share the specifics.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did a very extensive vendor review. We had all of the major providers of RPA solutions in 2016, and UiPath was the one that came through in terms of fulfilling all of the criteria.

What other advice do I have?

Looking ahead at the features that are being released this year, they seem to be what we have been looking for.

My advice for anybody researching this type of solution is to choose wisely. There are a lot of products out there, but few of them actually work.

This is a good solution and they are releasing some features that I am looking forward to, but there is still room to improve.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy automation creation, good documentation, and helpful academy courses for new users
Pros and Cons
  • "It's a complete ecosystem. It has everything you need."
  • "I would like to see them integrate with generative AI like ChatGPT."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for the implementation of automation for normal processes. We deliver use cases to customers.

How has it helped my organization?

The ability to automate everything is great. You can also do process mining and optimize costs. It can help save a lot of money in an organization.

Depending on the business, and how you calculate the cost vs savings, the time to value varies.

What is most valuable?

It's a complete ecosystem. It has everything you need. You can do attended or unattended bots. There's AI. There are document processes that you can do as well.

It's very easy to create any type of automation. It's the best solution so far in the market.

We are able to implement end-to-end automation. It's important that you can automate anything with UiPath. You are not limited. You don't have to have any extra connectors.

It has helped minimize our on-premises footprint. You can migrate to the cloud if you like. However, many companies, like banks, do not prefer the cloud. They prefer on-premises setups.

I've used the Academy courses. I've started one and haven't finished it. My plan in the future is to utilize it more. The structure and details are great. If you are new to UiPath, it's very good. It helps effectively onboard new people.

It helps reduce human error.

We can free up employee time by 90%.

If you are saving time, you are saving money, and therefore, it has helped save costs.

What needs improvement?

Everything is working well. Of course, there can always be improvements.

I would like to see them integrate with generative AI like ChatGPT. It might make a developer's life easier.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using UiPath since 2019. However, I have not been continuously working on it.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution has been very stable. I'd rate stability nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is very easy to scale.

How are customer service and support?

I've never been in contact with technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

The implementation is very easy. The deployment is similar to other products. You create a file and share it with a customer and they import it.

Through our methodologies, we define, design, deploy, and maintain.

Pre-deployment, we need to do some testing. After that, once it's accepted, you deploy. You don't need much staff.

There is some maintenance required for future changes in the application and any issues that may arise (like bugs). Typically, there's a business analyst and people from IT as well as someone from whatever department it's being deployed to.

What about the implementation team?

The customer deploys the solution. We take care of the design and implementation.

What was our ROI?

I have noticed an ROI while using the solution. In general, a business analyst would do the calculations to see how much money would be saved if a robot was deployed.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not deal with the licensing.

What other advice do I have?

We are UiPath partners.

I'm not certified in UiPath, although I do have experience with it.

I have not used the AI functionality yet.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. It's easy to work with UiPath. It has very good documentation.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to build automations, and has helpful Academy courses, but can be expensive
Pros and Cons
  • "The product enables us to implement end-to-end automation."
  • "We've tried to use test automation, however, I'm not sure how well it works."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for automation.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has been quite useful for the organization. It's helped reduce workloads.

What is most valuable?

The processing time is the best aspect of the solution. There are also fewer coding requirements. It takes less time to develop and implement projects using UiPath for this reason.

It's easy to build automation. The organization has a variety of projects and we can complete the projects faster using automation using UiPath.

The product enables us to implement end-to-end automation.

We use the UiPath user community. If you have any doubts about what you are doing, you can turn to the community and they'll answer your questions - which is very helpful.

The Academy courses are very useful. If you want to do any certifications, it's very simple.

We use the AI functionality. It helps automate processes that are more involved. However, it's something the team works on; I don't know much about it.

The solution helps us reduce human error as we can run many projects without much human involvement. Once we reduce human interactions, we can reduce human error quite significantly.

It's also helped us free up employee time thanks to the automation. It's freed up maybe 30% to 40% of our time since we started implementing automation.

What needs improvement?

We've tried to use test automation, however, I'm not sure how well it works.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

How was the initial setup?

We took about three or four months to deploy the solution. The process itself is moderate. We were able to manage the process ourselves. While it's rather easy, it does take some time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing cost is quite high. It could be reduced.

What other advice do I have?

I'm an end-user of UiPath. I'm an RPA developer.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten. There should still be more opportunities to make the solution less expensive.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

We've reduced employee time spent on data processing, but the license is too costly
Pros and Cons
  • "The processes are accurate. We see very few errors once they are implemented."
  • "UiPath support should be more accessible. We should be able to connect to support faster and resolve the issues sooner. When we open a ticket, we would prefer to get a call instead of an email. A priority issue is easier to resolve over the phone, so that would be preferable."

What is our primary use case?

I have used UiPath for multiple use cases, such as data entry processes or extracting information from emails to certain applications. I have also used it for financial processes like invoicing and analytics, and there are IT applications like user onboarding.

How has it helped my organization?

We can implement processes quickly with UiPath. It doesn't take us long to fix issues and develop a new process. It has enabled us to reduce our on-premise resources by automating around 30 to 40 percent of processes. We cut costs through digital transformation and managing model processes.

UiPath freed up the time of some of our data staff. Some processes that would normally require three or four hours can be completed in under an hour. We can also utilize UiPath to get some tasks done on the weekends or after hours.

What is most valuable?

UiPath is user-friendly, so new users find it easy to understand. The processes are accurate. We see very few errors once they are implemented. The processes are reusable. We can create multiple components that we can use repeatedly and combine them with other processes. It's flexible.

We used UiPath Academy when we were learning the tool, but we haven't used it that much since. It takes time to do the courses. I finished the initial tutorials in one or two days, but some courses can take an entire day. They last much longer than I need.

UiPath allows end-to-end automation. We work with stakeholders to learn about their requirements, and UiPath has a thousand automation tools that can capture many kinds of processes.

What needs improvement?

It isn't clear how to use UiPath to implement some use cases like chatbots, so we need to spend a lot of time searching for documentation on the web. To discover how to do these automations, you need to read and figure things out through trial and error.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used UiPath for a year.

How are customer service and support?

I rate UiPath support an eight out of ten. There's some room for improvement. UiPath support should be more accessible. We should be able to connect to support faster and resolve the issues sooner. When we open a ticket, we would prefer to get a call instead of an email. A priority issue is easier to resolve over the phone, so that would be preferable.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The UiPath license is costly. It would be helpful if we could get a bulk discount or any reduction, so we could use UiPath on a much larger scale.

What other advice do I have?

I rate UiPath a seven out of ten.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has helped to minimize our on-premise footprint and reduced human error. It has also sped up digital transformation and reduced its cost without requiring any expensive or complex application upgrades.

What is most valuable?

UiPath's best feature is that it's low code. UiPath also has the best community I can think of in the IT sector.

What needs improvement?

UiPath would be improved by integrating AI.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with UiPath for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is very easy to scale.

What other advice do I have?

UiPath makes it easy to build automations, monitor the activity of the robots, and let the business side interact with the robots. It also has a lot of applications, starting from test capture and process mining to reporting the activity of the robots. UiPath is a simple solution if you're looking to save time and money, but in the long term, I would suggest customizing the main applications you're using. I would rate UiPath nine out of ten.

A valuable solution for building bots that provides insights for determining ROI
Pros and Cons
  • "Insights have been super valuable because they help us determine the benefits of our bots."
  • "The Insights could be improved to be more user friendly and less reliant on code for building specific dashboards."

What is our primary use case?

The solution helps our organization with filing sales and use tax returns. We mainly copy and paste data from Excel and process it in the solution.

We do not use AI yet, but want to start looking into it.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution has helped by decreasing the manual work required to file certain tax returns. A manual return takes about an hour but bots can complete the work in twenty minutes. This time savings has been a big help for our organization.

What is most valuable?

The Studio is valuable because it helps us to build bots.

The Insights have been super valuable because they help us determine the benefits of our bots.

What needs improvement?

The Insights could be improved to be more user friendly and less reliant on code for building specific dashboards.

The Orchestrator could be improved to make it easier to manage folders where bots are stored.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution since July of 2021.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and we have no problems running bots.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable and it is pretty easy to see how processes can be applied across multiple teams.

How are customer service and support?

The Community is very cool and it has been interesting to see all the various companies involved with the solution. There are many good ideas and it is valuable to hear from speakers.

The Academy offers courses that are very helpful and assist in getting up and running. Instead of having to figure everything out, classes are available for learning Studio, StudioX, and Insights a bit quicker.

Technical support has been fine but nothing special. I have only opened a few cases so far and support resolved those problems.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use another solution.

How was the initial setup?

The setup and deployment was pretty straightforward.

Many things come with the cloud platform so they can be a bit complex until you learn about them. I feel like we are learning new things on the platform every day. Once we learn a product, it is relatively straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented the solution in-house. We wanted to cover the lowest hanging fruit that would give us the most immediate benefit.

With initial deployment completed, we have moved to taking our time to learn Studio and expand to more complex automations. We work with Tquila Automation who has been very helpful with development and learning.

What was our ROI?

We have realized ROI because we have saved over 1,200 hours that would have been required for manual filings. This has been a big help because staff can instead focus on other things.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is definitely expensive but is a powerful technology that we do not expect for free. It is important to justify the business cost by explaining the ROI to stakeholders.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated several options before choosing the solution, including Blue Prism.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
