Pros and Cons
  • "It has a core tool set of things in use to quickly put together an automation, whether it's interacting with an application or website. It gives you the tool kit that you need to quickly put something together. Very often, we can create something in a very short time frame, like in less than a day, and show it to someone. Then, they can see the immediate value of the solution."
  • "Going forward, I would like to see more stability in the robots. When I create a robot, then I want it to work for quite some period of time. I've had some situations, where things will update, change, and the robot is broken. Part of this is making a more stable implementation easier."

What is our primary use case?

We are trying to focus on using UiPath for our mission. A lot of people use RPA for things that happen everywhere, such as in financial or HR. We are a bit different. We are trying to focus on things which will improve what our customer are doing.

For example, one of our customers is a bank. Therefore, we are focusing on improving their relationship with the bank's customers by using RPA. While there are use cases everywhere, we are focusing on trying a company better and more streamlined at their core.

How has it helped my organization?

The robot (in the bank example) focuses on improving the way a customer interacts with the bank. The robot facilitates the monthly interaction that customer the bank by providing information to the bank, processing information much more quickly, helping the customer and bank at the same time. The bank doesn't need to spend a lot of time or resources looking at the information coming in. The robot can process the incoming information, validate it, and do lot of the work which had been done before. It is a win-win on both sides of the relationship.

We are seeing RPA use cases everywhere. Pretty much every one of our customers has some type of RPA that we are talking about as turning into a pilot or have already moved forward with as an RPA solution.

One example is we created a robot to use with DocuSign, which is fairly industry standard.

What is most valuable?

It has a core tool set of things in use to quickly put together an automation, whether it's interacting with an application or website. It gives you the tool kit that you need to quickly put something together. Very often, we can create something in a very short time frame, like in less than a day, and show it to someone. Then, they can see the immediate value of the solution.

UiPath was easy to use when I first came into it. Though, I have a software developer background, so a lot of the concepts were very easy for me.

UiPath has a whole bunch of online courses in the UiPath Academy. These are very helpful on understanding the capabilities of the tool and some of the nuisances of it.

What needs improvement?

It takes a bit of thought to find the right thing that fits into RPA at this point. However, with the things that we are branching into with natural language processing and imaging things, there will be more possibilities and opportunities.

UiPath should continue to grow and integrate with things that we can interact with, particularly with other enterprise solutions out there. They should continue to have out-of-the-box things that we can just take and work with.

For how long have I used the solution?

I first got involved with it in the last year or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have seen a lot of improvement in the stability and scalability in UiPath over the last year or so. There have continued to be new releases with new updates, along with new technologies that help. Therefore, the maturity of the product has gone a long way in getting to a stable, scalable product.

Going forward, I would like to see more stability in the robots. When I create a robot, then I want it to work for quite some period of time. I've had some situations, where things will update, change, and the robot is broken. Part of this is making a more stable implementation easier.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have put together a couple installations using Orchestrator. We haven't had the need for huge scalability yet, but it seems that the platform is there and has the capability for it.

One of our customers is a very large financial institution that has a lot of automation, because they have millions of customers. Then, some of them are smaller who are just trying to put their toes in. Even at our very large customers, there are still opportunities for improved, additional automation. However, the maturity across our customers is very diverse.

How are customer service and support?

UiPath has always been there to answer the questions that we have or help staff when we need it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Our customers ask us about the solution because of the government mandates.

How was the initial setup?

Compared to the other RPA platforms, like Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism, UiPath is much easier to set up. This is the value that a lot of our customers have seen, because it is so easy to set up, you can set up and install something on your own computer, use it, then run with it, and finally, play with it.

That is a huge advantage: You don't have to set up a large infrastructure just to do RPA now. Of course, Orchestrator is a little bit more complicated, but then I've had a much easier time setting up Orchestrator than I have had with some of the other leading RPA products previously mentioned.

What was our ROI?

The biggest thing for a lot of our customers is ROI. It takes about a year to see ROI, but it does vary based on use case.

One of the use cases that we are looking at is for a large government agency. They are taking people out of doing reports and putting them back in the field. In a cost constraint environment that we are in, this is critically important.

Some of the things that we've done have cut down tasks that took four hours to 30 seconds. So, there is a lot of benefit. Our customer are experiencing very large benefits from automation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Go download it, install it, and play with it. You can't do this with any of the other platforms.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

There is an easier level of entry for UiPath.

What other advice do I have?

While you can easily automate with RPA, the tasks someone does repetitively and is likely to make mistakes, thus eliminating human errors on a lot of things, but at the same time automation is only as good as you make it. So, humans are creating the robots at this point, and obviously there is still a possibility for errors. However, in processing workload, you will definitely cut down on the errors happening there.

Easy integration with all windows applications

What is our primary use case?

I have tried the RPA tool for the first time and I already love it. How easy it is: you can do all of the daily tasks which you repeat at one click.

Primary use case: educational purpose and automation for content writing.

Secondary use case: additional content writing and data scraping.

How has it helped my organization?

In our institution, we have to submit a weekly report for the tasks we perform daily. It is very easy to scrape the tasks we do from our academic portal and embed to the report.

Now we can make more assignments and content. On running a robot with a keyword, it writes the content and we just have to sit back.

What is most valuable?

  • Data scraping and web automation
  • Citrix automation
  • Easy integration with all windows applications.

What needs improvement?

  1. Community
  2. Own software stack exchange platform
  3. UiPath Go! should be more reachable to developers.
  4. Incentives should be given on publication on UiPath Go!

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

The most valuable features are its activities

What is our primary use case?

I have been using UiPath for quite some time now, and I have realized that it is one of the best automation tools out there. We primarily use this tool for automating our business processes and removing repetitive work with the help of automation. The most interesting part about this (easy-to-learn) tool is that it is accepted almost everywhere in the RPA industry. There are a lot of activities in this tool which will help you automate processes easily.

How has it helped my organization?

It has been quite some time since we started using UiPath in our organization and it has done nothing but help us. Everyone in the company now is learning how to use UiPath. It has helped us to automate a lot of menial tasks, such as salary processing and resume organization. There are areas where the employees can focus more on now. All of these things help us manage our organization better.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of UiPath are its activities. There are an immense amount of available activities in UiPath. These are the building blocks of your process. Since UiPath is new, it is constantly being updated, and new features are being added accordingly.

What needs improvement?

As of now, UiPath is headed in the right direction, but in the future, it needs to introduce its users to the field of AI and machine learning. These are the new features that should be added in the next version of UiPath. As for the drawbacks, UiPath should really add an option to change the toolbar options which would make it more user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

The computer vision package uses a powerful OCR engine to recognize more accurately the elements in the remote screen

What is our primary use case?

Development of bots to increase the posting of payments in a billing software for clients. This software is completely controlled via remote desktop, so there are sometimes that the speed of the bots is affected. We also review medical documents and save the records in this software. Currently, we are implementing the bots to check some docs and save them in batches for better control of the files.

How has it helped my organization?

Now we can process more payments in a short time, and use our human agents to take care of other tasks. Also, we handle better the exceptions that the billing software throws and can restart the job, giving some extra rules or parameters. We are still evaluating in which other processes we can run the bots for automating. We have got a server to increase the number of bots and make even more number of tasks. So far we configure bots for the jobs, more volume of files and information can be taken care of.

What is most valuable?

For our specific case, as we work with virtual and remote desktops, we find quite useful the new features that UiPath brings to work with such environments. The most recent is the computer vision package that uses a powerful OCR engine to recognize more accurately the elements in the remote screen and get the values we need or consider appropriated. Also, in general, this software is so easy to use and learn. How to use it takes no more than a full four weeks during the official training. The interface is so friendly, and the workspace is customizable.

What needs improvement?

Even though the new features of OCR recognition have improved, they still are incomplete and do not recognize some elements. Fortunately, they included an error report system to notify these issues. Also, UiPath has to develop a better way to show us the errors and where are they located in our project files. Finally, it would be great if they add new and powerful programming languages like C# or C++, to have more options at the development time.

It can input and retrieve data in and from the UI of almost all the desktop and browser-based applications

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case would be automating repetitive human tasks: read emails to get data, then login to the specific application and select other data based on the email received and reply to the initial email.

The secondary use case would be integration between legacy software.

How has it helped my organization?

It has given back time to the employees, to focus more on tasks that would require creativity and decisions that are not binary.

What is most valuable?

It can input and retrieve data in and from the UI of almost all the desktop and browser-based applications. This feature would give you a way of interacting with applications that would trigger all the logic behind the user data, compared to DB integration, which would require more effort to have the same result.

What needs improvement?

They should define a yearly baseline build version that would support the next features without having to upgrade all the time.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

What you can observe is the stability of UiPath Studio. Sometimes, there are issues with debugging or changing Windows sessions between devices, but the robot running is not affected.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are no differences in using one robot or 70 so far.

How are customer service and technical support?

The support response time is good for critical issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

UiPath is our only solution for RPA from the beginning.

How was the initial setup?

It was easy to set up in terms of high-density robots and disaster recovery. Everything is "click to install".

What about the implementation team?

Development is done in-house.

What was our ROI?

I don't have access to this information.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Easy to set up, and now the licensing is more straightforward.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We were looking into UiPath, Blue Prism and Automation Anywhere to start RPA development.

Easy installation, maintenance, and competitive cost

What is our primary use case?

Reformulate simple processes such as API access and virtual environments, e-mail access, spreadsheet completion and systems.

How has it helped my organization?

  • Positive impact on ROI
  • Process control and integrity of information
  • Reduction of expenses and reduction of procedural errors.

What is most valuable?

  • Easy installation, maintenance, and competitive cost
  • Active community, forum, and academy with resources for individual user development.

What needs improvement?

- Arguing between scopes and activities is still confusing.

The mode of argument transfer of a scope (or activity) is done by a screen where a variable is indicated as output to which the subsequent activity (or scope) is indicated as input. In large projects, these arguments need to be identified in an easy, fast and unquestionable way. Assigns a variable value to then assigns that variable to the output argument, and then assigns an argument as input to another activity. I think this transfer should be done in the panel of variables and not in the properties of the activity

REFramework is good, but still very rigid.

REframework is a good template but besides being very generic it is also rigid with respect to error handling. Basically follows the default entry> processing> output which does not encompass part of the applications in RPA, we must remember that the tool is for scripting and falling into the programming vices is a mistake. Overall it is a good way to start processes but during development it will be completely changed

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used a free application with few features.

What was our ROI?

A complete and agile solution for companies of any size.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Easy installation and maintenance with lower costs than practiced in the market.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I studied all three major RPA markets, "Automation Anywhere" and "Blue Prism".

It can work with all the Microsoft solutions to automate work

What is our primary use case?

Automating the manual work such as daily work like data entry jobs, accounting work, storing in Excel and filtering the mail.

How has it helped my organization?

By working fast and getting new knowledge of RPA with the help of this tool. It reduces the human cost.

Getting the mails, filtering that and downloading the required PDF and scrapping the necessary details from that, then updating it into Excel. After that, the saved data is updated on the website using Excel. Then giving the acknowledgment to the client, the process is completed or not. Using this overall, three hours of work will be completed in half or one hour.

What is most valuable?

It can work with all the Microsoft solutions to automate the work without any problem. After a one-step installation and day-by-day automation, it is improving the process.

What needs improvement?

It has improved the Citrix environment with the introduction pre-release of computer vision which can manage the total control of the image to indicate as a text and all the content. But the OCR engine still needs improvement; it may be in the next release.

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Use in a stable website.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

than a human.

How was the initial setup?

Easy to install the application using "creating an account"   website.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The license cost is has a community edition.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

No.

What other advice do I have?

Don't use the recording for full automation because the 1000-time process records will be developed too slow.

Its forum is awesome, and we can find solutions to every problem from there

What is our primary use case?

I'm working in the banking sector, and as we all know, there exist many repetitive tasks which are actually done by human workforces. I'm automating them with UiPath

Accuracy, time and cost are the benefits I've figured out from my experience.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath is a wonderful platform which helped me with automating many of the repetitive tasks including data entry, file processing, document classification, and many more like that.

What is most valuable?

As a software engineer, the features I felt the most valuable are given below:

  • Version control
  • Python support
  • Time-saving
  • The wide knowledge base on the internet.
  • The UiPath forum is awesome; we can find solutions to every problem from there.
  • It has nice support too.

What needs improvement?

The product and its documentation are very easy to understand and helpful, but I found some difficulties when dealing with the licensing. I hope they would make that clear as soon as possible.

Then next thing to improve is the option to add activities into the work pane without using a mouse — actually, via real coders like keyboards only. So, adding more shortcuts would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Highly stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It has a very scalable and easy solution, both in licensing and infra setup.

How are customer service and technical support?

Support with a good knowledge base.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

No, this is our first solution, and we chose it after a long time market study.

How was the initial setup?

They are providing full support for setup, which includes Webex support too.

What about the implementation team?

In-house.

What was our ROI?

I think the ROI is more than 100%.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I think when comparing with other products, UiPath has a flexible and simple licensing option, and their pricing is also good.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, we have tried some proof of concepts with other software like Automation Anywhere, Kryon, etc.

What other advice do I have?

They are also introducing AI/ML to the product. It's time to start using this so we can grow with them.
