When looking for a Application Security solution, are you more likely to pick Contrast Security Assess or Virsec Security Platform?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Are there specific use cases where one provides a better solution than the other?
Hi Julia - I've been with Virsec as the Sr. Director, Product Marketing for the last three quarters and I have never seen a competitive opportunity arise versus Contrast. Perhaps the confusion lies in the category placement, as Virsec is most closely aligned with the Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP) offering a positive security posture (automated allow listing with application control). The typical use cases for Virsec include:
- continuous protection against zero-day ransomware, malware, and data breaches
- continuous protection for unpatched vulnerabilities in the application, web, and host workloads
- continuous protection for legacy applications and host OS environments e.g. Windows 2003, 2008, 2012, .. and Linux (CentOS, RHEL) 6.5, 7 .. and SUSE 12, 15
- cloud migrations focused on application lift and shift to containers
- full stack protection of web applications, host workloads with memory/buffer overflow protection against remote code execution (RCE), fileless SQL injections, and cross-site scripting.
