Yes, I think if they had better security their customers' data wouldn't be on the Internet right now. A cloud storage gateway is a perfect start, as most offer enhanced security, data protection, encryption, etc. I don't count on those famous brands to have military-grade protection because it's just regular people who work there, and we all make mistakes. As cloud storage is online, I think we all - big, medium, or small companies, should benefit from the solutions that are on the market and try to protect our data. My company uses a cloud storage gateway and creates frequent data replicas and backups because we want to avoid being on the news for poor maintenance of our clouds and data.

I don't think it’s that these companies weren't using gateway storage or any kind of enhanced security tools. We're speaking of companies like Facebook, LinkedIn, Alibaba, and Accenture - I can't believe they’d let their customers’ data on the cloud be unprotected. My guess is that hackers were just creative and got around their protections and that's how they managed to breach some of the most popular brands’ cloud storage and leak data. I think that the mentioned companies may have had vulnerabilities if such attacks were able to happen, but I'm not sure a cloud storage gateway would be the most simple and most efficient answer.
What is cloud storage? Cloud storage is a type of computer data storage in which digital data is stored in logical pools called “clouds,” which are located on the internet.
