The tool is good for network management and monitoring systems. I find the aforementioned area valuable since it shows auto-discovery switches and devices that we can manage and monitor. With other tools, only the monitoring system works, not the area of how to manage it. When it comes to the tool, I would say that we have not implemented the product's security system, but we have focused on the normal security system part, which we have configured, and it consists of the host security and authentication method. In my company, we have not used the AI part associated with the tool since we have OmniVista Network Advisor. There is no issue with the tool's interoperability because you work with a standard protocol. Our company has faced issues with two or three open standard LMSs, and I feel it must be enhanced. Some of the open standard LMS, specifically the third-party ones, don't provide full-fledged information about Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch Ethernet Switches. There is a benefit for customers from the use of the solution especially considering or comparing it with third party tools. Customers benefit from the use of the solution, especially when considering or comparing it with a third-party tool. I can say the feature, like ACL, is very critical and very complex with its features, but I feel it should be understandable for a layman. The tool works on an open standard for reporting, making it easy to integrate the product with any other device. For other users who are evaluating the tool for their organization, I would say that it is not much. The only thing is that other users can't understand CLI scripting of the tool because it is totally different than I rate the tool a ten out of ten.
The appliance is on-premise, but the management is on the cloud. One admin and one backup engineer are needed for the deployment and maintenance, considering leave. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
I'd rate Alcatel Lucent OmniSwitch Ethernet Switches between six and seven out of ten. I'd recommend comparing it with Huawei for those looking to use it. Huawei has been significantly improving its switches and portfolio. The tool needs to invest more in its lab to make its products more stable and add new features. They're not listening to the market well. They need to focus on data centers and virtual switches and provide images for proof of concept. They need to migrate their solutions towards virtualization. If it doesn't make these improvements in five or six years, it might be left behind by Juniper, Cisco, and Huawei.

I rate Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch Ethernet Switches seven out of 10. They're solid switches in an enterprise environment, but I can't say anything more because I'm not the engineer who uses all the switch's features.

I know these switches have redundancy software capabilities, but we only tested three switches, so we didn't really have the amount it takes to test redundancy and resiliency at a larger scale. We didn't quite have enough to test that to its full extent. Overall, everything worked as they said it would. Based on our experience, Alcatel-Lucent was a very good company, friendly and easy to work with. They had a good product that was able to meet all our needs.
All of the features in these switches are good. In most cases, everything that our customers need is already inbuilt. I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.

As someone with long-term experience with the product, I can say that you can trust the Alcatel switches. Earlier, before moving to this company, I did not work with Alcatel switches. When I came here and found out that we have Alcatel Switches, it seemed a little strange to me that I wasn't going to be using Cisco switches. I continued for some time a bit worried thinking that we would have some issues. But now, after 10 years, I can say I have complete trust in this product. On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate this product as a nine out of ten. The only reason it is not a ten is the compatibility issue where the Alcatel switches should be more compatible with other brands and not just amongst their own products. I don't think it is a serious issue as we use the Cisco and Alcatel together now. I just think this compatibility and flexibility could be better.
The Alcatel Lucent ethernet switches are fully managed and run on the widely deployed & field-proven Alcatel-Lucent operating system offering high security, reliability, performance and easy management. These switches are designed to operate in extended temperatures, offer higher EMI/EMC tolerance and surge protection.
