StrataConnect has many different variants. I was also the Broadcom representative for Appnet, where I supported a large number of customers. Key site with strata implementation connects into a variety of products. For example, test equipment, key site, test equipment for high-end switches. Broadcom is now known as Avago. Avago purchased Broadcom. Broadcom is simply the old name, but they continue to use that name. Because of Avago, with Broadcom, they have the full circuit. They have all of the transceivers, as well as network switch chips and other components. They have the complete solution available. My advice would be to buy a white box from Delta or someone else and then you can modify it. To develop it yourself is going to require 50 people, maybe $2,000,000.00, and two to three years. Unless you have that kind of money, time, and those resources, I wouldn't develop it yourself. I would just buy a white box that already has the Broadcom chips in it. The white box developer, such as Delta or whoever, will have already modified the software for you to give you either different bells and whistles or different things you want. You can then go back to them and pay them a fee of $10,000 or $20,000 to do some other software modifications for you. Cisco is better but worse to deal with. It's pretty good, I would rate Broadcom StrataConnect a nine out of ten.
