I recommend Fortinet FortiOS for SMBs. In my opinion, whether Fortinet FortiOS or Sophos is better depends on the specific features and requirements of the client. For example, Sophos offers strong centralized management and mobile monitoring, which might be advantageous in certain scenarios. The decision isn't solely based on features; budget and how the client plans to use the product are also important factors. Some products excel in certain areas but may not be as strong in others. Therefore, we typically suggest a product that meets about eighty to ninety percent of the client's needs. Sometimes, depending on the situation, we might even recommend alternative solutions, including Chinese products, if they fit the client's requirements and budget better. The tool's impact on operational costs also depends on the scale of the customer's operations. FortiOS delivers great performance and value for money for multi-office, multi-organization, or multi-branch setups. However, for single-office setups, a smaller device might be more than enough, as many services like email are now cloud-based, reducing the need for extensive on-premise protection. Rather than investing in hardware, we sometimes use software-based solutions installed in data centers or hypervisors, depending on the customer's situation, requirements, and budget. Our budget presents different challenges, and we have various types of customers and consumers. I want to know your exact expectations from us so I can clarify things easily. You've implemented matrices, and most products support them. However, compatibility with other products is very important. Sometimes, our VLANs or switches aren't compatible with the tool, so we must be careful. Many switches aren't compatible with it, so we might choose a different solution. Sometimes, we choose to implement FortiOS across many sites and devices based on the budget. Fortinet often gives us good prices, but not always. It depends on which distributor offers the best price. These days, the market isn't just about features, as most products support all areas. We must make things easy, stay within budget, and meet customer requirements. That's how we decide which products to use. I rate the overall solution an eight out of ten.

Overall, I would rate Fortinet FortiOS an 8 out of 10. It’s a solid product but could improve in areas like update management. Currently, it’s up to the user to check for updates, and Fortinet doesn’t proactively notify you about necessary updates. If they know your version, they should inform you directly about any needed upgrades instead of relying on you to check.

If they could log in, it would be possible only if FortiOS is included. With FortiOS, you can manage all your devices. Let's say you have ten devices and need to manage all of them, including patching FortiOS. FortiCloud helps you with that, and it's nice to have FortiCloud as a bundle with FortiOS. Even if you only have one device, I would still recommend it. I suggest incorporating AI or machine learning to anticipate threats in the future. For instance, if you configure a new site with your FortiGate, AI could detect any misconfigurations. It would be beneficial for FortiOS, FortiGate, or Fortinet to have an AI feature that alerts you to potential misconfigurations in devices, like an edge router, communicating with others. This AI could also analyze your logs to identify patterns, such as frequent false positives, and recommend reconfiguring the device to minimize unnecessary alerts. It's good. In my case, I was the only one dealing with the devices at that time. I would get all kinds of false positives and alerts. Sometimes, if there's a new device, the configuration from the old device to the new device doesn't translate. Maybe on the old device, everything defaults to open, and you must close everything. On the new device, everything might be defaulted to closed, and you have to open up the required ports. So, something like that would be nice, where it's easier to configure and find out if you did something wrong. Overall, I rate the solution an eight-point five to nine out of ten.
The reserve utilization is very low. Based on my learning, my expectation is for every product to have a good intelligence system and frequently updated threat intelligence. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

You have to see what works best for your environment. Each environment is different depending on the applications and different services you are running in that environment. Suppose it's a full Windows environment versus a mixture if you have a hybrid environment. It all depends on the type of environment you're running and finding the right tools that meet your domain. But for the regular Windows environment, it's perfect. I rate it eight out of ten.
We're Fortinet clients. We are using the latest version of the solution. We are using Fortinet 60D, 80E, and 100 also. I'd rate this solution nine out of ten.
We are Fortinet partners. If a company is looking for a local security enhancement, we tend to recommend or select this kind of solution. I'd rate the product nine out of ten overall.
The solution is easy to configure and has good performance. Anytime I have thought of a possible feature I'd like added to the solution, it seems the developers are on the same page and it is available within a few months. I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
We're a customer and end-user. We would recommend the solution. Fortinet is a good product. However, other products are good as well. It really depends on the customer experience. I'd rate the solution seven out of ten due to the cost of quality of services, and due to the fact that we know other firewalls are more powerful than Fortinet. That said, Fortinet is very economical and gives us an appropriate solution based on what we require.
All of the infrastructure is hosted locally on-prem. We can't host it in the cloud due to security reasons. We’re resellers more than partners. We provide the solution to customers. It's an industrial process environment. Whether we use the latest deployment or not depends on the customer. However, we prefer to not install the latest version. We typically install two or three versions backward. The reason is, that your latest versions typically have a lot of bugs that are not necessarily known yet. Since this is a process plant, which is not directly connected to the internet, effectively, you go through a Purdue model, which connects to layer three or layer four before they get to the corporate network. That then will break them out to the internet. The risk model for that is okay to have them not on the latest version. Also, since it is a process environment, literally, it's a process plant; it's an industrial process plant. The performance and uptime is king, not so much anything else. In a normal corporate environment, uptime and security is king. However, in a process environment, you need to keep the plant running 24/7 in order to pay the bills. The way that you look at how you install the product is quite a bit different than normal enterprise IT. I’d rate the solution ten out of ten. It is the best solution for users if they start out in a secure environment. They just need to make sure that they partner up with the correct partner that can guide them through the processes of obtaining the correct device and obtaining the correct training for themselves in order to use the device. That said, it's a highly recommended device to use from a perspective of security, usability, and installability.
Compared to other firewalls like Palo Alto, FortiOS is easy to deploy and upgrade - for example, an upgrade of Palo Alto takes at least thirty minutes, but Fortigate can be done in around ten. I would rate FortiOS eight out of ten.
I recommend this solution to potential users because it has many features, and it's a stable product. On a scale from one to ten, I would give Fortinet FortiOS an eight.
I recommend this solution to others. I rate Fortinet FortiOS an eight out of ten because the reporting, configuration, and management for the IT administrators could improve.

My advice to those wanting to implement this solution is to use a good partner that can help set up and troubleshoot the solution. I rate Fortinet FortiOS an eight out of ten.
The most advanced solution Fortinet has is intruder prevention. My advice to those wanting to implement Fortinet FortiOS is they should do a site survey, but not exactly the site survey. They need to study and scale the environment for which they want to implement the FortiGate solution. FortiGate solutions aren't exactly cheap, but if they undersize the environment and they purchase or implement FortiGate solutions that are not good enough power-wise for the environment that's being used, it could lead to problems. Although it is a stable solution, it is prone to lockouts if it goes above the recommended use cases. Proper sizing of the environment is very important. I rate Fortinet FortiOS an eight out of ten.

I'm an end-user and customer. We are using a few versions of the solution, some with 6.2, which is not the most updated version, and some others with almost legacy versions such as 5.6. I would advise users to not stick with the last version if a new release comes out. I would rate the solution at a nine out of ten. We have been largely pleased with its capabilities.
I know Fortinet and SonicWall, and If I had to consider other solutions or if I have to redo it again, I would take a closer look with Palo Alto first. With Palo Alto, the cost is more, but when I switch from SonicWall to Fortinet FortiOS, I lost a lot in the features. I would check to see if Palo Alto has what was lost in terms of features. The stability is good. I would rate Fortinet FortOS an eight out of ten.
This particular solution will be in a firewall. It's not a firewall, but it is a unified threat management (UTM) box. It acts as a firewall, plus it has many features like web filtering, VPN, DSCP, IPS, and IDS. It also has the high availability (HA) feature. You are getting a very good solution with all these features combined into one box. I would rate Fortinet FortiOS a nine out of ten. We will surely keep using Fortinet FortiOS because it is a great and very secure product. We intend to only go with this product.

I would probably recommend Check Point to most users considering FortiO if they do not have any ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) implementation or a Cisco ACI. If you could do a workaround on the ACI, then I would probably still recommend Check Point. But if you do not know how to make that type of adjustment or can not and you do not have any partners that need to access your systems, then it is better you go for Fortinet.

We work with a lot of manufacturers of firewalls. It's normally Fortinet, however, we also work with Cisco, Palo Alto, and Sophos. My company works with Barracuda as well. To be honest, I am not a specialist with Barracuda. I normally don't work with that. That said, typically, when we work with clients, one of the first solutions we will suggest will be Fortinet. We do normally also recommend Cisco first, as well, due to the fact we are Cisco partners. We're also partners with Fortinet. We have a deal with Palo Alto and our security center recommends Barracuda because of their other security solutions like WAF or solutions in the cloud (not their firewall). Normally, we use the on-premise deployment model. At this moment, we are working with a public cloud deployment model as well. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten overall.

We're using version 6.2 of the solution right now, however, the latest version available is 6.4. I'm part of the security team at our organization. We're business partners with Fortinet. I would advise other companies to choose a firewall brand that they can they afford. Cost is an important aspect. It needs to work well within an organization's budget. It doesn't make sense to look at products that are out of an organization's price range, so make sure you are looking at options that are affordable. The second thing to consider is the solution's functionality. If that particular brand or particular product has the functionality required, and they are able to implement it on their network or in their infrastructure, that's a good sign. The third consideration should be support. It's important for a company to understand how fast and how reliable the support is. That's very important after the sale. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
My advice to someone implementing this solution is not to take shortcuts. Shortcuts aren't good. Don't hesitate to use FortiGate's technical support. Always buy support. Always buy FortiCare. You can buy it for one year, two years, or three years with the initial purchase. We always buy it and sell it to our customers for three years. And the product will last more than three years. Fortinet competes in the big companies as well. We just don't. Our marketplace is the smaller users two or three, maybe four locations, 150 to 300 endpoints. So we're not dealing in the 10,000s of users trying to get into 100 of servers. We're dealing with tens and fifties and a hundred, trying to get into a few servers. I would rate it a nine out of ten. It could more scalable for the lower end users.

I do recommend this product to clients for use but it depends on their case needs. For example, in the AAA (Authentication Authorization and Accounting) some of the accounting and some of the VPN tunneling features are removed from Fortinet FortiOS due to some security configurations. In some projects, we need those features for the client and when that is the case, I cannot recommend that the client use the FortiOS solution. It would be a better product if there were a logging feature. You need to have FortiAnalyzer in your installation to have logging management capabilities. It will be a better solution if some logging and history capabilities were integrated without requiring an additional product installation. On a scale from one to ten, where one is the worst and 10 is the best, I would rate Fortinet FortiOS a seven. It is a good product but there are a few problems.

I wouldn't specifically recommend one product of this type over another. We provide a plethora of products and it depends on the client's needs. I would rate this solution a six or seven out of ten. We deal with a lot of products, this one is okay. It really depends on the client.
My advice to other customers would be to have good knowledge about the traffic in their network. In the future, I would like to see more user-friendly dashboards and a drop in the price. My rating for this solution is therefore only eight out of ten.
It's important to have 24/7 support because the documentation is poor and you will need the support. It's important to have a support team and a support contract. I would rate it a nine out of ten. Not a ten because of the troubleshooting. Other solutions have a mechanism to find your IP network. Cisco has something called Packet Tracer which is very advanced that helps you test your configuration. It really helps the engineers to test without affecting the product environment.

We have lots of experience in using and installing FortiOS, and because of the experience has mostly been positive, I recommend FortiOS as a solution for firewalling. Besides the few issues we have experienced in the past, this is a stable solution and the high-availability feature is very, very good. On a scale from one to ten, where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would you rate Fortinet FortiOS as a nine. Despite the few problems we had in the past it is a very good solution which does what it is designed to do.

We use the on-premises deployment model. I would recommend the solution. As a co-firewall, it does a good job. I would rate the solution seven out of ten.
We are using the on-premises deployment model. We are an integrator, so we do integrations using Fortinet, Cisco, Sophos, and Palo Alto. If you're an SMB or a small enterprise, I would recommend Fortinet. I would advise users to make sure they are getting value for what they are paying for. I can say that Fortinet is not as expensive as the others, but it also gives good value. The main thing is not about the cost, but the value and Fortinet delivers on that front. I would rate the solution nine out of ten.
The only advice I have for anybody who is implementing this solution to make sure that they have a proper internet connection with good bandwidth. Overall, the Fortinet OS is great. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Research and plan, ensure that the product falls in line with your requirement and has room to grow, and don't let a Product dictate your requirements.
It's a good reliable product. I'd rate it as a solid eight out of 10. It has room left for improvement. We'd chosen the solution because of the price and the support contract, but just a few years later the support contact pricing was all of a sudden pretty steep. They increased it by 20% to 30% from one year to another year, and it's hard to explain why.

We use the private cloud deployment model. I would rate the solution nine out of ten.
I would rate this solution an eight out of ten. I would recommend it to someone considering it.
I will definitely recommend this program to others, and I rate it a nine out of ten.
For my requirements and expectations, I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.
I rate this solution an eight out of ten and I will definitely recommend it to others because many people are using it around the world now.
