I would highly recommend this solution. I am a big believer that you get what you pay for. We do not use GoAnywhere's Secure Forms. We are using this solution for simple file transfers. We are not getting too complex with it. We also do not make use of the GoAnywhere agents or the GoFast feature. I would definitely rate Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT a ten out of ten.

I would rate GoAnywhere MFT nine out of ten. Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT doesn't require coding for everything under the input values for the workflows, unlike other solutions. Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT requires minimal and easy maintenance. Our clients usually assign four people in each organization that utilize Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT. Based on the features provided by Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT, the price is reasonable. There is no need to purchase additional tools to monitor and maintain the data. I recommend Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT to other users. Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT provides peace of mind.

I would rate Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT ten out of ten. We evaluated GoAnywhere MFT's gateway feature, which adds security by placing a secure gateway at the network perimeter. However, since 90 percent of our connections already utilize a VPN, which offers its own encryption and security, we opted not to implement it. Similarly, we haven't invested in the secure forms functionality as we haven't identified a need for it. GoAnywhere MFT itself requires minimal maintenance, only needing one patch upgrade so far. Additionally, while occasional Windows updates and server restarts are necessary, they are significantly easier to manage compared to maintaining and patching a Linux system. GoAnywhere MFT stood out among the products we reviewed - it offered superior functionality at a surprisingly affordable price. Compared to other options, GoAnywhere felt like a clear winner in terms of both value and capability. I recommend attending the demonstrations offered by the sales and presales engineering teams. They are product experts and are happy to provide hands-on demos where you can build a sample workflow. These sessions are very informative, and similar follow-up calls after purchase are also valuable. They can help you avoid unnecessary steps and ensure you're using GoAnywhere MFT to its full potential.
I would rate Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT 8 out of 10. GoAnywhere allows us to encrypt our data using either TGP or AES encryption. Depending on the use case, one or two people are required to maintain GoAnywhere. We offer GoAnywhere to a wide range of clients, from small IT shops to large banks with thousands of employees. I recommend reading about all the additional features, such as GoDrive. You should also be aware that GoAnywhere is highly scalable.

I would rate Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT nine out of ten. We have approximately 100-150 users. I recommend conducting a proof-of-concept for Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT.
The solution has quarterly maintenance releases. Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT is best used in a Windows environment with low utilization. It wouldn't be something I would use in a high-utilization environment. Overall, I rate Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT a seven out of ten.

GoAnywhere hasn't helped to eliminate single-function tools or unsecured file transfer methods because we work in medical records, and we don't send things in a non-secure fashion. I personally don't think that the mail is very secure. If we take the fact that we don't burn CDs anymore and we don't have to put them in the mail, then it has helped because now, it is from us to them, and there is no wait time. It hasn't enabled us to allocate staff toward other work, and it also hasn't enabled us to acquire or disseminate more data or more documents. It has only helped us to work more efficiently. I would rate it a ten out of ten. I tell people all the time that they need to get this. I was looking for something like this, and finally, I got it. I'm super happy about it. I don't want to have to go back to the way I was doing it before.
As part of the implementation process it would be a good idea to have a couple of examples, actual scenarios, you want to do. GoAnywhere has templates and they're good, but they're a little simplified compared to what you can do with the solution. That's really a compliment to the software itself. The templates are all about moving files, and GoAnywhere is capable of more than that. Having examples that involve reading data in from a database and identifying certain data lines to set variables is a good idea. I would suggest, where applicable, to spend the time to design into the job a procedure where, if a process fails, you can retry, or reset things like filenames and locations.

If your overall requirements are related to ETL and sending files to different systems, and you want to automate these kinds of daily processes, then GoAnywhere would be the best fit. It's one of the best solutions. It's lightweight and doesn't need heavy servers or big hardware to run, and it's very scalable. All these features really add to the GoAnywhere solution. Overall, the solution is a nine out of 10. The ease of use is definitely 9.5 and the performance is a nine. But in terms of catching up with all the new standards, it's a little behind it. On that, I would give it an eight. It doesn't have connectors to various new systems. For development, it's a 9.5.

Make sure you size it properly. Also, in the grand scheme of things, what I've learned is that you don't have to be on an IBM platform or Ipswitch, or Axway—the big names, the competitors. One of the players in the industry that is a little smaller, like HelpSystems, has a product that gets the job done for less money. We're really not that big as far as revenue goes. We're less than a billion-dollar-a-year corporation, with 2,500 people. But we are a not-for-profit and we work with Fiserv so we have a lot of IBM footprint on the ground. That is not typical of a company that is doing less than a billion dollars a year. Traditionally, the mentality is to just use the big-name products, Big Blue and HPE, but that is just not necessary. That's one of the valuable things that I've learned. GoAnywhere gets the job done for a lot less money than the big traditionals. Our users include three guys who are automation engineers and two guys who are MFT engineers. We also have a handful of folks, four or five, in the network operations center, who do ad hoc file-sends to credit unions. Overall, it's a great product.

I believe GoAnywhere connects to almost any type of server. I move many things through SFTP and I think it pretty much connects to any kind of system you're looking for. It'll connect to cloud systems as well. My advice would be to look and see what it can do and then look at how it could improve your processes. I think you'll notice that you'll end up saving money by purchasing the product and saving a headache here and there. I would rate GoAnywhere a ten out of ten.

I recommend this product for other users who wants to start using it, and we do recommend it all the time. On a scale from one to ten (where one is the worst and ten is the best), I would rate this product as an eight-out-of-ten. To improve it in order to rate it higher, it would have to be cheaper. To accomplish that HelpSystems could consider reorganizing the product in a more modular way. In that way, we could just make the solution fit to particular needs and pay for what is used. For most situations, we just need a few small modules instead of the entire solution in one big chunk.
