ION is used as a part of Infor M3. Infor ION is primarily used for report development and customization. For instance, when organizations want output documents with specific elements such as fancy logos, footers, and customizations, they use ION along with IDM (Infor Document Manager) for document capture. The alert management feature helps with process optimization overall, but requires administrator configuration and depends on the extent of application usage. While some customers implement it, better hardware is necessary both server-side and locally. Cloud hosting is possible, but local hardware quality affects graphics and user experience, particularly regarding monitor resolution and laptop capabilities. Regarding data flow visualizations, data lakes are available, and BI tools can be built on top of them. Customers use various BI tools and reporting systems such as QlikView. The Infor data lake can receive data and support dashboard creation. When connecting legacy systems with new technologies, standard messaging protocols can be effectively integrated with Infor M3, though integration success depends on specific message types such as EDIFACT or EDI. This review rates Infor ION 8 out of 10.

ION is crucial if you have Infor LX and wish to extend its capabilities for supply chain management. Without ION, it would be more expensive and complex. I rate ION at eight out of ten.

Infor ION is a simple solution, but you need one technical resource in your organization to maintain and manage ION connectors. Due to the lack of resources, I have seen customers who have to reach out to their partners whenever a change arises. I rate it a seven out of ten.
I rate Infor ION nine out of 10. It's a good solution if you want to develop a process-oriented hierarchy, develop custom software, or integrate any application externally or internally within your server. We're pushing more of our customers to the cloud, and ION is excellent on the cloud. It's a little tedious to configure ION on the cloud.
Initially, it might be bit tricky to use, but within a week, you should be able to gain confidence. Infor ION is not a tool for end users; it is for experts. My advice would be to keep that in mind and not get confused on day one. Overall, I would rate Infor ION at nine on a scale from one to ten because it is an application that gives us the whole history of third-party integration performance. It simplifies the job of the core team and is an essential tool.
