I’ll be recommending it to customers. In my country, it is very active in acquiring data analysis solutions, so it will likely be recommended for that sector. I have very limited knowledge at this point. I'm still exploring the architecture. From what I’ve learned so far, I believe it's used quite extensively in my region. The idea of distributed computing and partitioning is definitely something that's needed. Also, the cloud and on-premises architectures are not that different, which is a positive aspect. Overall, I would rate the product an eight out of ten.

We used Teradata for proof of concept purposes but eventually transitioned to Azure Synapse SQL for managing large data volumes. With Azure Synapse SQL, we could load nearly 130 million records daily from a single data source, and we had eight data sources. This data-loading process took only four hours to complete. It is also based on the .NET framework. If you're familiar with SQL, working with Teradata might be considered complex compared to Microsoft SQL or Oracle. If you want a tool to handle financial transactions and generate simple dashboards, Teradata might be the faster option. However, if you also require machine learning, operational reporting, etc. I would recommend considering alternatives such as Azure Synapse SQL. I rate the overall product a seven out of ten.
Considering its strength in data warehouse technology, I'd rate it between a nine out of ten. For data warehousing specifically, it has a lot of built-in components that can handle various requirements. However, there's also big data technology to consider these days. But for a traditional data warehouse environment, Teradata is a very successful solution, a very good database, actually.
My advice for those considering Teradata is that if you are looking for an optimized database, it is worth considering. In my experience, it has been better than Oracle and DB2 in handling large-scale data and analytics efficiently. Overall, I would rate Teradata as an eight out of ten.
We are primarily using the latest version of the solution. It works well both on-premises and on the cloud. I would recommend the solution. However, it depends on the project itself. Based on the stability alone, I would recommend it. It's good for bigger projects. If it is used for small projects, the complexity and price may be too high. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

I'm a customer. I'd advise potential users to do a proper POC first. Teradata is beneficial when we have a huge amount of data, and queries are complex. It works well with small queries as well. However, companies won't benefit that much from Teradata if they are only focused on small queries. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. If they were more innovative, I would rate them higher.

I'm an end-user. If new users are experienced database users, they will know the administration side is different than the other databases. However, it's almost the same for an end user, a developer, or somebody doing reports on Teradata on another database. It has some differences, yet the logic is the same. I'd recommend the solution to others. I love Teradata. I would rate the solution an eight out of ten. I was happy to use it. I was glad to have Teradata, since, with Teradata, we can meet the requests of the customers, and it is highly available.
I was the national service support manager for Teradata South Africa. I was in charge of all the sites in South Africa, Gauteng, and Cape Town. I was in charge of all the support services for Teradata. I'd recommend the solution to other organizations. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. It's one of the best systems in the world.
It's hard to compare their on-prem solution to current cloud environments. From an on-prem perspective, it's expensive but fantastic. The problem is that nobody's playing in that space anymore. People are using the cloud, and the cloud has better options. Because it's on-prem, I rate this solution four out of 10.
I'm not sure of which version of the solution we're using. It might be a previous version. I'd recommend the solution to other users and organizations. I would rate the solution nine out of ten. We are quite pleased with its general capabilities.
Teradata is being used on-premise, but we're moving to the cloud and I don't know that we'll retain Teradata further. We might be switching to the Google platform and their native databases. Make sure that your data volumes are large enough for it and that you follow their standards. The modeling for Teradata is slightly different than anything else out there. Match your primary indexes if you can. These PI-to-PI joins are incredibly fast, even with massive amounts of data. I've worked on Teradata installations in the petabyte range. I rate Teradata a nine out of ten.
For anyone thinking of implementing Teradata, I would recommend preparing by understanding the technology and putting in the effort to keep it being adaptive to different and urgent requirements from your business. I would give Teradata a score of ten out of ten.
Teradata requires maintenance, but the team in charge of the maintenance was not in-house. It was taken care of by an external support team. There are forty to fifty users of the solution in the company. I'm use Teradata on a daily basis. I'm rating Teradata an eight out of ten.

My advice for anybody who is implementing this product is that they really need to hire the right people. Get people who actually have worked on Teradata to guide them. You can buy Teradata and you can get it up and running, but until you hire a few good people, you are not going to get the full benefits from it. These people are not resources that you would ask Teradata to provide you. Rather, you can hire them from the market. The important part is that you need to have people who have good experience with Teradata because they can truly exploit its power for you. Overall, this is a good product. It is close to the best but I cannot rate it perfectly because of the price. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

This is a very good solution. After looking at the recent price drops, they need to offer very good discounts for people that bought it. The value proposition is actually quite good compared to many years ago. For most of the enterprises out there, they're focusing mainly on structure data. This solution ticks that box. As long as they can control the price incrementally in the future, I think they're a very good strong platform. I'd rate this product in terms of its functionality, stability, and scalability, as almost perfect. It's a nine out of ten. I don't think there's anything to complain about. It's only the price that's a sticking point for us.

On a scale from one to ten, I will rate Teradata a seven. An additional feature I would like to see included in the next release is that it needs to be more cloud-friendly. That's the one thing they're going to lose customers over, so that needs to improve. I know they're working on it, but they need to do it quicker.
