What are the most common use cases for using low-code development platforms?

What is your opinion about using low-code platforms for development in your organization? What are the most common use cases and what should I be aware of when deciding to go for a low-code development platform?
Low Code is a big trend and it has still a long way to go.
There are backend low code tools, front end low code tools, BPM low code tools, IDE's which can be categorized as low code tools, API low code tools and "full-stack" low code tools.
The use cases mostly depend on the customer perspective in conjunction with the chosen tools. That is to say: once the tools are robust and the customer perspective is holistic there is wide organizational implementation.
But if the tool is still small and the customer only wants to test capabilities, what you will get are only small "hole fillers" apps.

I have seen a couple standard use cases:
1) Building small applications for specific department needs that usually are not addresses by any of the standard ERP, SFA, CRM or other enterprise tools utilized for broader processes across the organization.
2) Automating what used to be MS Access or MS Excel based data tracking and converting to a real application with workflow, data validation, and integration with other cloud vendors or internal systems.
3) Building a new bespoke application when you need web and mobile screens for data entry, lightweight validation, simple workflow and generation of reports and/or documents. This is usually when you cannot find a package that meets your industry needs, but you need an application and don't have the time/money/resources to build it from scratch so you elect to use low code.
I'm sure there are many more use cases, but these are the ones I've actually seen successfully implemented at multiple companies.

Using low-code in development speeds development up by a factor of 10. There are different kinds of low-code plattforms (user interface, workflow engine, data exctraction and transformation and loading).
You should try to create Citizen developers - they will gladly do tasks that are too 'simple' for your programmers.
We do mostly use Oracle Apex for our enterprise user applications.
