When I compared various software-defined data center (SDDC) solutions and tools, I found the Azure Stack suite of data center tools and Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX to be the most effective ones currently available on the market.
One of the things that I initially noticed about the Azure Stack platform was how it enabled us to customize the hybridization of our data centers if that is what we wanted to do. We are able to create the type of data center that best meets our business needs. It is a highly flexible solution that offers us a number of service options to choose from when we are building our data centers. The options that it offers include:
• Azure’s IaaS services. This service provides us with a host of virtualization tool options. This service allows us to easily deploy virtual machines (VMs). These machines greatly increase our ability to expand the size of our data centers to accommodate constantly shifting business demands. We can run even the most advanced workloads on these VMs without worrying that our resources cannot handle the job. This option requires us to care for various aspects of the data center’s infrastructure and upkeep.
• Azure PaaS services. The PaaS services enable us to host our projects from and run our projects on physical servers located on the premises of a service provider. We have the ability to store and move our data securely across a physical infrastructure without having to worry about creating or maintaining the infrastructure. We do not need to worry about updating or keeping our machines running. This allows us to focus exclusively on the data flowing through and being stored in our data center.
• Azure SaaS services. Azure’s SaaS services enable us to deploy our data center from the internet itself if that is the deployment that best fits our needs.
A major benefit that Azure Stack offers us is the way it enables us to continually innovate. It ensures that our data centers have all of the features that they need to operate and perform in the most effective ways possible. Azure Stack’s suite is constantly updating and adding the features that are most able to help us meet our goals. These updates can take two different forms:
• Updates to Azure features that are running on Azure Stack. These are infrequent updates to various Azure features that we are using in the Azure Stack suite.
• Updates to Azure Stack’s infrastructure. Unlike Azure feature updates, these updates take place regularly. They improve the operational capabilities of Azure Stack.
One of the aspects of Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX that I appreciate is the way that all of its tools have been tested rigorously before they are released to the public. We can now construct our database without having to rigorously test each component that we are using. Our organization can spend time and resources on building and maintaining the data center. Everything that we use can be trusted straight out of the box.
We can also use this solution to easily construct and deploy our data center. All of the components of this solution come pre-configured. Our team does not need to build anything from scratch. We take the many options that Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX offers us and put them together in the way that best meets our needs.
Ultimately, either Azure Stack or Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX will empower you to take control of every aspect of the creation, maintenance, and use of your data center.
What does a software defined data center consist of? The different components of a software defined data center, otherwise known as SDDC, include the following:
Compute virtualization: This component includes virtual machines (VMs) that reside on cloud servers and whose purpose is to help users create software implementations that decrease provisioning time.
Network virtualization: In a software defined data center, this is where the network infrastructure can be provisioned and...
