I'd advise users to start by knowing what the actual requirement is and thoroughly assess the automation needs. New users should take advantage of the demos and trial versions so they get an idea of the platform.

Setting up the environment was quite hard initially. The pricing seemed to be pretty decent in the market for all our requirements. The licensing is easy as it can be chosen according to the plan that makes the most sense.
The solution is easy to set up. It offers very good value for money. The license renewal activity is easy; the support team will provide the query we need to run it.

I like ActiveBatch Workload Automation's licensing model because they're not holding you down on an agentless model or agent model, where every server needs to have an agent. That's the main selling point of the solution and I hope they stay that way.
The pricing was fair. There are additional costs for the plugins. We have the standard licensing fees for different pieces, then we have the plugins which were add-ons. However, we expected that.

Make sure that the pricing is in the contract. ActiveBatch is currently redesigning themselves. In the past, they were a low cost solution for automation. They had a nice tool that was very inexpensive. With their five-year plan, they will be more enhancement-driven, so they're trying to improve their software, customer service, and the way that their customers get information from them. In doing that, they're raising the price of their base system. They changed from one pricing model to another, which has caused some friction between ActiveBatch and us. We're working through that right now with them. That's one of the reasons why we're why we were evaluating other software packages. For the time being, we are staying with ActiveBatch because we like it the best of the four. Up until now, if you wanted to do a training class through them or go into some of their deep dives, you needed to pay additionally for that. The new way that they are doing their structured agreements has that all part of the contract. Now that we will be paying for it, we will be looking at their deep dives a lot more and seeing the stuff that they have done in the past.
We are currently paying a yearly fee, although they are greatly increasing their prices and changing to a subscription-based model. Currently, we are paying approximately $7,000 yearly, which includes support.

The cost is outside the scope of my job responsibilities. Obviously we're using it, so it was worth the cost. I think it's a tremendous product. I don't know what the cost is compared to others, but having seen the results, it's worth it. We recently signed up for the certification courses and training, which is money well spent. Anything involving training is money well spent, but especially with a new product that is going to be a major part of your environment and your business. From what I've seen, the videos and online training through ActiveBatch are tremendous. They provide examples, and they actually provide a test environment with jobs that you can put into ActiveBatch. You're able to run these jobs, make changes to them and work through the training with them.

From what I recall, the price was fairly in line with other automation tools. I don't think it's exorbitantly expensive, relatively speaking. It's definitely been worth every penny for us. It hasn't been the case that we have thought, "Oh, it's too expensive. We need to find something else." It's worth it for us, by a large margin. In addition to the licensing fee, I believe there is a cost for how many different agents you need to put on servers. There's some additional licensing that you can get, that we haven't had a need for, where you can add jobs that work with VMware or other third-party tools, to open up that part of it.

I don't think we've ever had a problem with the pricing or licensing. Even the maintenance fees are very much in line. They are not excessive. I think for the support that you get, you get a good value for your money. It's the best value on the market. I've worked with a lot of products in my career, and this is by far one of the best products I've ever seen. You're getting your value.

The pricing skyrocketed for the sake of organizational objectives, while the set-up cost remained acceptable.
The initial setup is a little complex. Subscriptions can be made for a group at a reasonable price.

The product is a bit costly.
The pricing was high for organizational purposes, and the set-up cost was okay.
It is worth the money; go for it.
The solution is easy to set up. It offers very good value for money. The license renewal activity is easy; the support team will provide the query we need to run it.
ActiveBatch is the best in terms of reliability and helps with cost-cutting. The licensing was a complete green flag for the product from my side.
I don't have information on the licensing costs of ActiveBatch Workload Automation because a different team handles that.
I'm unaware of the licensing costs but I know there is an additional fee for connecting to an SAP environment.

If you compare ActiveBatch licensing to Control-M, you're looking at $50,000 as opposed to millions.
