The pricing structure for AWS Shield is fair, yet it depends on the specific protections chosen. Enabling Shield Advanced on multiple services such as CloudFront, network load balancer, or Route 53 raises the cost. If you opt to protect only a load balancer, it can be less expensive. The pricing model is acceptable given the various levels of protection companies might require.
We pay $3000 per month for the solution. We have to purchase on the organizational level. We should have one organization for billing. Otherwise, we must pay for every organization, increasing the cost. We would need to merge our organizations to benefit from one subscription.
The cost depends on traffic each month, so on average, it costs us between US$200 and US$300 per month. That's about US$10 per day, which we feel is fair. AWS Shield does not have all the feature functions of the other CDN providers, but it does what it does well. I believe it is good for us. I give the price of the solution eight out of ten.
