The bundling of software makes it easier to manage our setup, but Microsoft purposefully obfuscates this through marketing ploys to hide costs. Although this can be challenging, ultimately, it simplifies budgeting.

Microsoft Defender XDR is expensive, especially for the full suite functionality. However, when compared to buying multiple-point solutions separately, it may be comparable in price. Overall, it is competitive within the market, but the broad capabilities make direct cost comparisons challenging.

There is the cost of the license, and there is the cost of implementation services. Only by enabling a license for your user, all the features are not going to be enabled and the policies are not going to be configured. It does not work like this. You need specialized people to implement, monitor, and maintain the systems. It comes as a package. I would rate Microsoft Defender XDR a seven out of ten for pricing. It is costly, especially on the cloud part. There is also Defender for Cloud, which is part of Microsoft Defender XDR. It is 15 dollars per server per month. It is worth it, but it can be costly. It depends on the company's size. That is the big issue. If you have a company with ten employees and ten servers because you have your own infrastructure hosted within virtual machines, you need to protect ten client endpoints. It is cheap if you get a business premium license. It costs around 17 euros per user. To protect the servers, you need to pay an extra 14 euros per server per month. For ten servers, it is 140 euros per month. Per year, it is around 1600 euros. Small companies or companies with a small budget would not go for it because they do not want to invest in IT. They do not see this value. In my opinion, big companies can justify this cost. In the countryside of Malta, it is tricky to sell the solution. I have to give them all the advantages. I always have a test environment, so I show them how it works, how the automated detection works, how it behaves, and how it acts on the threats. I give them an overview, and they get amazed. When it comes to the pricing, they get a little bit scared, but ultimately, they go because they see value in it. Everything depends on the value that a product gives and how you sell a product as a solution provider. An XDR solution provides value because it protects your assets. Your data is your major asset. If you do not have it protected, you can get hacked or have a ransomware attack. Companies are now starting to understand the importance of it, and they are starting to invest more. It is still a long way for us to have the mindset where they say that it does not matter how much it costs, we need to invest in security.
Data is expensive if we want to leverage the telemetry that exists within the 365 ecosystem and bring that into Sentinel. I can't pipe that data in without paying an ingestion cost. I know how much data exists in each one of the tables that are there, and it would cost a significant amount of money to bring that in.

We have a vendor who gives us a better price. The product is expensive. Selecting the entire Microsoft suite is cheaper than using random services or products. Bitdefender costs around five dollars per month per device. However, Microsoft Defender XDR costs 2500 dollars per month. We are evaluating Bitdefender for Windows. Microsoft Defender XDR helps us save time for clients.
365 Defender is billed per account. I don't know the exact price, but my supervisor told me that Microsoft Defender is cheaper than the alternatives. It's bundled, so you get all the features in one place.

I believe the pricing is fair and acceptable. I consider it to be reasonable and satisfactory. If you prioritize security, considering the cost should not be a determining factor. If you truly understand the level of protection offered, you wouldn't be concerned about the price. Instead, you would focus on the value provided. From our perspective, the pricing is reasonable considering the significant benefits and value we currently receive.

The cost of Microsoft products depends on several factors, including contract negotiations, the number of licenses needed, the length of the contract, the type of contract, and whether the organization is a long-term partner or a new customer. Microsoft is constantly adding new features, which can cause the price to increase. However, the cost is worth it to protect the environment. Currently, no other company can provide such a complex product at such a competitive price and be as responsive to end-user feedback and continuous improvement. On average, we pay around 55 euros per user for the services and features we receive. This is a good value for a large company, but it may be too expensive for a small business.

All I can say again is the E5 gives you all the capabilities that it offers. It also gives Office 365 and one terabyte of storage. All in all, the E5 license model makes sense. There are some people who say it's quite costly, but rather than paying different vendors, it makes sense to go all in with Microsoft if you've got that licensing. From that perspective, it's cost-effective, but I can't comment much on that.
365 Defender is bundled with our Microsoft Enterprise license. Additional costs for support, etc. depend on the license level. If you have a premium account, you will receive priority support, but it costs more.

I don't deal much with the pricing aspect, but the companies I am supporting use an E5 license for Microsoft 365 because they want to include all the features and it's cheaper for them to use E5 than SE3. Maybe the solution should be cheaper because I have heard that the licensing is pretty expensive. I can imagine why: The knowledge is expensive and the tests and infrastructure are expensive as well.

I would like to have more security features in the lower licenses because not every customer is able to buy E5 licenses. The bundling isn't always easy for our customers to understand. Compared to other tools, it's a good price.

Microsoft should provide lower-level licensing options. They should do it in such a way that even an individual could purchase a license, and it should be entirely flexible. An individual should be able to access the solution at a very affordable rate.
The most valuable licensing option is expensive, so pricing could be improved. Licensing options for this solution also need to be consolidated, because they frequently change.
We have a lot of problems in Latin America regarding the price of Microsoft 365 Defender, because the relationship between dollars and the money of the different countries, it's is a lot. Many customers that have small businesses say that they would like the solution but it is too expensive. However, large companies do not find the cost an issue.
We have E3 and E5 licenses for our users and there is the default. Depending on the user role, the senior people and critical positions have been allocated the E5 licenses and the intermediate users have been allocated E3 licenses. Whether it is inexpensive or not is not a very straightforward question as, when you compare the total cost, you have to consider the total cost of ownership. It's not only a comparison between two products. You have to see the other dependencies when you deploy any other solution. That said, I would say it is more or less cost-effective.

The price could be better. Normally, the costs depend on the country you're located in for the license. When we were in the initial stage, we went with the E5 license they call premium standard. It cost us around $5.20 per month for four users.

We are using the higher-level package which we have to pay a licensing fee for. There are different tiers. Ours includes extended detection with Advanced Threat Protection. It's the most powerful endpoint protection Microsoft offers.
Microsoft Defender XDR is a comprehensive security solution designed to protect against threats in the Microsoft 365 environment.
It offers robust security measures, comprehensive threat detection capabilities, and an efficient incident response system. With seamless integration with other Microsoft products and a user-friendly interface, it simplifies security management tasks.
Users have found it effective in detecting and preventing various types of attacks, such as...
